  1. me: I have a question, a thing a friend brought up
  2. whats the difference between these:
  3. -Dating
  4. -fuck buddy/Friends with benefits
  5. -Master/sub Relationship.
  6.
  7. Flawfy:
  8. Dating is seeing someone with an intention of working towards a romantic relationship
  9. Fuck buddy/FWB is someone aquainted with in which you two are often engaged in sexual relations
  10. Master/sub you'll have to ask someone else
  11.
  12. Puddi:
  13. fwb means you have NO intentions of being romantic
  14.
  15. Flawfy:
  16. Oh right I forgot to include not involved romantically ^
  17.
  18. me:
  19. doesnt master/sub relationship kinda tie in with friends with benefits
  20.
  21. Flawfy:
  22. I couldn't answer, never met anyone with such a relationship nor have I ever been in one
  23.
  24. Prism, the contrarian:
  25. tbh it depends on how you view friendship.
  26. I think of FWB as "no commitment" not necessarily no romance.
  27. Considering a strong friendship can essentially be a relationship without sex.
  28. I even jokingly call one of my closest friends my platonic life partner.
  29. Master/sub can take A LOT of different forms and really can only be fully defined by the two within the relationship, but generally it requires an incredibly deep level of trust because there's an exchange of power taking place.
  30. Also, "dating" someone doesn't necessarily mean they're your boyfriend/girlfriend, it means you're seeing them with romantic interests, like flawfy said
  31. But honestly.. definitions aren't rules.
  32. It's not like "this is this, end of"
  33. And often times relationships take forms that don't fall neat and tidy into conventional definitions.
  34.
  35. the Grogfather:
  36. Aye, relationships take so many different forms, trying to put rules on them is silly
  37. Quite frankly, as long as you and the other party is comfortable with the relationship you have, it doesnt really matter what that kind of relationship is labeled
  38. There are so many interpretations of love & friendship, that definition will change from person to person
