- “Alright, everything checks out.”
- Oh? Because I was SO checking you out.
- “I’m going to be ok?”
- “Well I don’t know about that. I mean, you could still get hit in the head by a rock or something.”
- That cheesy grin. It almost makes me want to laugh at such a horrible joke. At least these scrub bottoms are comfy.
- “I’d like to see you tomorrow, if that’s ok, Aiko. I still need to do your physical for our school records.”
- “Oh, but of course.”
- Aiko like.
- “Take care, Aiko!”
- “See you tomorrow, Nurse!”
- Glad that’s over with…now how do I get back to my dorm?
- “Um…Nurse?”
- “Yes?”
- “How do I get back?”
- “Excuse me? OH! To the dorms?”
- “Yes…”
- Wow, Aiko. First day and you’re already lost. Way to go, dumbass.
- “I’ll ring Miss Tanaka’s room. She did bring you in, after all, and asked to be kept up to date on how you did.”
- “That’s fine.”
- Makes sense to me. If a new girl at my school had an episode right in front of me, I’d want to make sure she was alright. That I didn’t kill her or whatever. Plus I did leave my stuff there. I hope I’m not interrupting her.
- “So it looks like we get to spend a little bit more time together, Aiko.”
- “Oh, so we do.”
- Play it cool, Amaya. Just be suave.
- “What brings you to Yamaku?”
- Oh boy, that million dollar question.
- “Just thought I needed a change of scenery, is all.”
- Grin it away. Don’t give him reason to think it any further.
- “You know, Yamaku is a long way from Hokkaido. Weren’t you afraid of not being able to fit in?”
- “Um, that was never any concern of mine.”
- I start fiddling around with the hem of my shirt. A nervous habit I always had. I need to play with things when a conversation starts getting awkward.
- “Really? Social development is important for your mental health.”
- Mental. Health? I have to bite my lip violently to keep from lashing out at him.
- “I’d rather not talk about that, if that’s alright with you. Ow!”
- Fuck. I drew blood.
- “Hm? Everything alright, Aiko?”
- “Just bit my lip is all.”
- “You’re bleeding. Here, have a tissue.”
- What a gentleman. He pushes my buttons yet knows when to back off and comfort me. If he were my age, the things I would do to him~.
- “Thank you.”
- There’s a knock at the door. At…eight at night? Oh god, we must have interrupted her homework.
- “Come in, Ritsu. We were just talking is all.”
- Just talking? Oh you dog. That was colder than your stethoscope on my chest.
- “Hello Nurse, Aiko. Is everything alright?”
- “Yes. I’m not going to die!” heheheh
- “That’s great news! But, um, why am I here?”
- “Oh, that? Well um, you see…”
- “Ah, lost already.”
- Am I blushing that hard?
- “It’s alright. Come on, let’s head back. Goodnight Nurse!”
- “Goodnight Ritsu, Aiko.”
- “Good night!”
- Man, I hope this isn’t going to be one of those long awkward walks back to the dorms.
- “Don’t worry, I won’t tell. My first day here, I fell down some steps. Except then, no one really helped me to the Nurse’s office.”
- Oh god, this girl is a klutz. How pathetic.
- “Oh…Ok.”
- Is she that desperate for friends that she just latches onto the new girl for social interaction? That’s really kind of sad. I feel bad for her now, but damned if I show it. Girls like these, give them an inch and they’ll take a mile or twelve. I’ll just give her one of those cheesy nod-grins and hope she doesn’t keep talking.
- “Well, it’s always nice to have a bit of a helping hand when adjusting to a new school, don’t you think?”
- STOP TALKING TO ME! This forced conversation is offending my sensibilities.
- “Oh. Looks like we’re here!”
- “Are we, Aiko?”
- “Yes, isn’t that it right there?”
- “Well, yes, but that’s like still quite a ways away…”
- “Close enough, Tanaka!”
- I need some fucking space before I explode. I…what?
- “Hm?”
- “Aiko. What. The. Fuck.”
- “Let go of me.”
- “You didn’t act like this earlier. What’s going on with you?”
- “I…uh…need to go…”
- “Go…?”
- “Lavatory?”
- “OH! Ok then, we can hurry!”
- That lie always works.
- Always.
- At least we'll get out of the rain that's starting to fall.
