[Asmund Equile] ([Personthing)
-Etymology - Asmund is norse for "Divine Protection", while Equile is Latin for "Stable".

-Personality - Asmund is a kind, but very pragmatic man. He believes the duty of a knight is to protect the innocent and help those in need, and that caring about looking pretty or noble while doing it is for fools. Why take a sword through the chest because you've been disarmed, when you can throw sand in their eyes and take their weapon? A knight should do everything in his power to come out on top. Looking pretty is just for the tournaments.

Asmund prefers to help out the locals than focus on pomp. It's not unusual to see him talking to the locals around House Fortis estate, getting to know them and helping them with their problems. His typical day is get up, have a meal with his family, train with his kids for a few hours, roam the countryside and visit some nearby villages, do what he can to help, and then return at night and rinse and repeat. Asmund doesn't care about the way the other knights talk about him behind his back, he knows he can beat most of them, and in his mind, he's more of a knight they'll ever be.

Due to this, Asmund's relationship with his father Leon is more than a little strained. Leon admires Asmund deeply for how he cares for the common man, but has criticized him time and again for how he acts in battle, while Asmund too has mixed feelings for his father, admiring his sense of duty and valor, but criticizing his stubborn pride. Their biggest fight was after Asmund took a few families hostage, Leon was appalled by his behaviour, while Asmund asked him if he'd rather have many more die just to save a few. They haven't talked much since that day.

-Short Backstory - Asmund Equile is the eldest son of Leon Equile, a family of knights with a long history of service to House Fortis of Kriger. As all members of his family are, he has been trained in the art of warfare since a young age, and has proved himself time and again in battle in service of Emile Fortis. Asmund's first time on the battlefield was when he was 13 years of age, squiring for his father. At the age of 18, he married a peasant girl named Sachi after rescuing her from bandits and falling in love, and together they have 3 children, two girls and one boy, all of whom are training to be knights. (They're too young to step foot on a battlefield though.)

While Asmund is beloved among the local populace for his history of kindness to the locals and generally good behaviour, he faces ire from his fellow knights for his use of "dirty" tactics in matters of life and death. One of his most famous instances of this was when he was accompanying Acacia Fortis in her campaign against Oretian heretics. He took the families of many believed heretics hostage, and threatened to kill every last one of them should they not show themselves. His plan worked, and Asmund claimed he wasn't actually going to kill them all when confronted on the matter by Acacia. Even Emile lectured him about this, telling him that while dirty tactics in matters of life and death were acceptable, harming innocent lives was crossing the line and that he'd be thrown out from his service if he did such an act again. After this, Asmund never crossed such a line again and soon found himself in Emile's good graces again. In competitions such as jousting or melees, Asmund has a spotless record for his conduct.
