  1. Robin dusted himself off and cleared his throat. “I don’t know what boxing is, but if you’re gonna do this, that doesn’t matter. You’ve got to be ready to fight off any trouble that comes. Even something like this.”
  2.
  3. Attempting to pull an element of surprise, Robin drew his new bronze sword and rushed forward. He wasn’t planning to actually stab this guy, probably just give him a scare, maybe a nick on the side, and then whack him with the flat of the blade.
  4.
  5. One of Mac’s eyebrows twitched up. He was surprised, but not much more than that.
  6.
  7. The sword drew up close to Mac’s side. And then he slid.
  8.
  9. It wasn’t far. It wasn’t wide. The next second felt more like a minute as the tactical side of Robin’s brain lit up, analyzing every one of Mac’s movements as they happened, but nowhere near fast enough to stop them.
  10.
  11. His center of gravity was kept in his waist, and that let him move his torso out of the way without needing to actually move that far. His left fist clenched and drove from his shoulder, pushing with body weight from his chest and back, and slammed into Robin’s shoulder. His hand twitched and instinctively dropped the sword he was holding. Mac moved into the motion, switching arms fluidly and without wasting a drop of momentum. His right fist slammed into Robin’s gut, driving all the air out of his lungs. With his defenses dropped completely and no way to properly counter, Mac drew his right back for a wide swing right into Robin’s cheek.
  12.
  13. And in that second, the fight ended.
  14.
  15. Both Robin and his sword clattered to the ground. Every point of contact that Mac had made was sore and already bruising.
  16.
  17. “Alright,” Robin huffed out from the ground. “So that’s what boxing is. I get it.”
