WA2 Impression

White Album 2, the VN that I really enjoyed as much as it make me suffer. A works of art that leave a really strong impression to me.  Never have I experience such an amazing emotional stirring, tormenting, painful, yet beautiful story like this. It's a realistic romance drama story with a heavy focus on its characters personal interrelationship.It's the kind of things that will hurt and make you suffer as much as you facinated by its story and as much as you love the characters.It show you that love is a beautiful thing, but it also show you that love is painful and tormenting. It shows you every side of love and its consequence in realistic way.

WA2 is composed of three main parts and one additional parts. The main parts are Introduction Chapter, Closing Chapter, and Coda. The additional parts are the extra after story.

Introductory Chapter, as the title suggest, is the introduction of WA2 story, a prolouge.This is the part where you are introducted to the characters and the events that serve as the foundation of WA2 story. Everything on WA2 traces its sources to this chapter, so you can say that this chapter is the main cause of everything that happened in WA2. It did a great job to make you so invested on the characters, which will have a big impact later on.

Next is Closing Chapter. This chapter is set 3 years after the end of Introductory Chapter. This chapter play an important role for the development of MC and serve as the pivotal point for the next chapter. This chapter also introduce three additional heroine. The story of each heroine offer another, yet important, perspective for the Haruki (MC), which play an important role to understand Haruki and the respective heroine more deeply. The last route on this chapter, Setsuna's route, is the canon continuation of WA2 story after Introductory Chapter and Closing Chapter's common route. Setsuna route serve as the pivotal point for WA2 story and it's the main foundation for the next chapter's story. Setsuna route is the route that will give a lot of development for the story and the characters in WA2.

And finally, Coda. Coda is the final chapter in WA2. Set 2 years after the end of Setsuna route in Closing Chapter, Coda is the chapter where every consequences from Introductory and Closing Chapter take its effects. The old wound is now open once again. It's the chapter where everything will be settled for once and for all. Every investment on the characters will take its effect in this chapter, which will enchance your experiences so much. This chapter is purely torture device, where every lines in this chapter is a tormenting pain for you to read, it's like a thorn everytime you move to the next line. The more you invested on the characters, the more suffering you will be. This chapter end the story of WA2 with two true routes, Kazusa and Setsuna. Both true route have totally diferent approach to settle and conclude the story. No matter how you choose to end the story with, both true route really did an amazing job to put an end for the story of WA2. It's the most memorable and amazing chapter among all the three.

Additionally, there's After Story. The After Story consist of Kazusa's true after story, Setsuna's true after story, and a separate addition to the continuation story of 浮気 route. All of them is a nice addition and serve as the fan services for their respective route. It shows you the true happiness for Haruki and Kazusa/Setsuna that await them after the true route. A well deserve happiness that you should really read after done with the main story.

The plot in WA2 isn't really that interesting tbh, it only serve as the events that advance the interaction and development of the characters. Though the story is largely driven by the characters, the plot is good enough.

The writing is great. Maruto's writing really play its role to make you invested emotionally to the characters. It convey each character's emotion and thought pretty well. His narration quality is great; a lot of metahphor were used on his prose which enhance experiences even more. He also use a lot of tactical and war strategy metaphor for the lines that have love affair/romantic context, which I found really cool considering love is the same as war. Maruto also displays conflicting thoughts and will of the character on their action on his narration, which is one of the main contribution to the pain and torment in WA2. The pacing is slow, but it suit this story very well.

The characters in WA2 is undoubtedly amazing. It's the aspect that drive the story forward, It's the most core aspect of WA2. All of the characters are fascinating; each of them have their own story, each of them play a role in the story, and not one of them are easy to forget. The best thing about the characters in WA2 is that they really feels so human, i mean in realistic way. You will be so invested on the characters, because you feel like you share their emotion, you connect with them emotionally. All of them have their own story, their own will of action, they act because of their own reason, and not one of them are forcefully do action for forced advancement of the story. It's almost impossible for a waifu wars (Like what the people that only watch the anime did) after you read the whole story and understand and connect with those characters. All of those things make the personal interrelationship between the characters really amazing, which resulted in impressive character development for the story. All of them are fascinating in their own way, all of them are really memorable. My personal favourite character on this VN is Kazusa, which I really felt connected with and succesfully make me can't stop thinking of her everyday, even in my sleep tbh. She's officially my most favourite heroine in VNs and a waifu now.

The Arts is great. The background images were really well done; it support the atmosphere of this VN greatly. The character design isn't really my favourite, but it's good enough for me.

The music is amazing. Each BGM play a big role to enhance the atmosphere and experiences when you read WA2, so much that I think the music is one of the main factor that make WA2 so powerful and emotional. The songs inserted in this VN is without a doubt amazing. I really enjoy them so much, not to mention certain song were played during a certain scene, which make that scene so memorable and powerful. After reading a certain scene with the associated song, listening to that song will never be the same again. It will make that song even more powerful and touch you emotionally everytime you listen to the song.

Overall, I'm really satisfied. One of the best of the best VN that I've ever read. Its story left me with one of the best and most painful experiences I've had on storytelling. It really left a strong and meaningful impression that I will never forget. It will forever leave a beautiful memory and a scar to my heart.
