Covet: Cadence  was  trying not to be impatient about the trial starting up. The court room full of the usual people, Reporters and the people that had been there following the case.  She reached down to the floor where her bag was and pulled out a stick of peppermint gum, and took a drink of water that  she'd brought with her. // Eli was looking down at his phone scrolling through emails, clearing the junk and reading the ones that looked important, to idly pass time, until the judge came in  //  Felix was with Steph, sitting near Cadence and Remy, keeping an arm around her shoulders, settling into his seat for the next chapter of this

Alexithymiaa: -Steph sat in her seat beside Felix, her eyes set down in her lap just staring at her hands because she didnt want to look at any of the lawyers or any of the people up front. She took a deep breath, moving her hand to push her glasses up her nose, feeling like complete shit and she totally looked like she made no effort to be presentable. // Adam was seated in the front row, completely prepared to be supportive for Hayley during her time on the stand. He was a bit nervous for her, rubbing his hands on the legs of his pants before turning to face her because I assume she was already sitting inside waiting to be called up. "You know exactly what you have to do. Just answer their questions, and only their questions. Don't volunteer any extra information. Black and white facts. Don't get upset, be respectful, and don't give his lawyer anything to prey on. Okay?"-
Tsaaq: Judge Frederick came in, everybody rose, blah blah. “Which witness testimony are we calling today Mr. Anderson?” He asked the prosecutor.// She inhaled deeply as she held Adam’s hand, practically squeezing it off. Even when they had to do the standup sit down thing. “Okay. Answer. Straight forward. Be nice. Don't get upset.” She nodded her head. // Anderson pushed up to his feet. “The prosecution calls Hayley-Trinity Iris Berkoff to the stand.” He called out. // Hayley went over to the witness stand and took her seat timidly, raising her hand so she could be sworn in. // “Hello Ms. Berkoff. Thank you for coming here and giving me this testimony.” He said. “First and foremost. I need you to tell me about how you met the defendant?” // She looked to the jury then to Anderson. “Yes sir… The school was having a singing event and I saw him or whatever and I thought he was cute but then I decided not to pursue him. But Thaddeus insisted so we went on one date that didn’t go well at all. Then we didn’t interact much. We had classes together but that was it.” Hayley answered, giving a pleasant smile as she nodded her head. // Remy was seated next to Cadence. He put his arm around her as Hayley spoke. // Bliss was patiently seated with everyone else, waiting to see Hay's testimony. "So far so good." She whispered.
Covet: After standing for the judge and sitting back down again she leaned into Remy. Watching Hayley as she took the stand and they started in. // Eli put his phone away, when he had to stand, and was paying attention to the proceedings. He leaned over to hear Bliss, and nodded his head. // Watching Steph, he gave a soft frown, and tucked a lose strand behind her ear, before pressing a kiss to her head, then Focused on the trial.
Alexithymiaa: -Steph moved her hand to clasp her fingers around the pendant that hung from her neck, lifting her eyes to watch Hayley for a moment before looking back down into her lap. Closing her eyes, she tipped her head to the side, leaning into Felix. // Adam watched carefully as Hayley started, nodding his head as he listened to her, trying to be encouraging in case she looked in his direction.-
Tsaaq: Anderson paced while Hayley spoke. “Ah, I see.” He whispered. “Can you tell me about October thirteenth, twenty fifteen?” He inquired. // Hayley lowered her head a moment and swallowed. “That was the night that Thaddeus, Devin and those other guys on the basketball team lured me out to that van in the lots and took turns…” She replied. // Remy set his jaw as he listened. His parents in the row right behind the rest of them. He glanced back at them. A pained look had been on Jacqueline’s face but for the most part they were calm. // Bliss shook her head while listening to the testimony.
Covet: Listening  to Hayley, she frowned, then peaked up at Remy noticing he was looking back. This was going to be quite the unveiling for them, since Remy and herself had been trying to keep this all from them. // Eli pursed his lips and furrowed his brow, not sure he was really prepared to hear all this. // Felix  took a deep breath and get an emotionless face as he listened, though he did  feel for Hayley.
Alexithymiaa: -Steph chewed on her lower lip as she listened to Hayley speak, her hands curling in to make tight fists until her nails bit at the insides of her palms. Angryyy grrrrrr. // Adam slid forward in his seat, resting his elbows on his knees as he listened to her, hardly blinking. He'd never pressed her for details of that night, he just remembered how she was afterwards and knew how bad it was.-
Tsaaq: “Tell me all that you can remember about how you got there and all you remember from the night please?”// “Well, Xavier, who I didn’t know was Thaddeus’ friend had invited me to a party at the lots. When I got there nothing was happening. And Devin was there. Xavier gave me a beer and after that everything was fuzzy. I remember my friend Harper calling my name… And I remember things Thaddeus said to me during.” She frowned and lowered her head. // “And what did you hear him say?” Anderson leaned on the stand as he looked Hayley over. // Hayley began to frown as her lower lip quivered. “He said: ‘Nobody’s ever going to love you now.’” She struggled to say. She glanced to the jury then at Adam. // Remy shook his head. “Calm down Berkoff…” He whispered to himself. Sasha went to put his hand on his son’s shoulder to calm him. // Bliss gasped a bit, as did some of the others in the audience.
Covet: Cadence put her hand on Remy's leg, as she gave a sniffle, unable to help the tears that started to form in her eyes. // Eli clutched Bliss's arm  the only reaction he could give hearing what Thad had told her. // Felix looked over at Steph and noticed her clenching her hands. He reached for them and held them to keep her from breaking skin with her nails.
Alexithymiaa: -Steph laced her fingers with Felix's, tipping her head up to look at him and dropping her voice down to a whisper. "There's no way anyone can think he's anything short of a malicious psychopath." // Adam watched Hayley intently, nodding his head when she looked over at him, slowly mothing 'I love you' as best as he could.-
Tsaaq: He rose his hand to her. “Please, I’m sorry if I’m upsetting you. Take your time.” He said gently. “Tell me about November seventeenth twenty fifteen.”// She smiled a bit at Adam then turned to him once more. “I’m fine.” She lifted her hand to him in return. Hayley nodded with understanding. “That night I was at the Off Campus House. My friends and Thaddeus were there. I was in my Harper’s room, hiding from my other friend Adam. My stomach had been hurting me since the night before. Like barely able to move hurt, and suddenly I was bleeding from my privates.” She answered leaning into the microphone. “My friend Harper took me to the hospital and I found out that I miscarried.” Hayley frowned. The courtroom fell silent. // “I’m so sorry.” Anderson apologized again. “What did Thaddeus say? When he saw you bleeding so profusely?” // Hayley paused and glanced to the jury. “He said I was ‘perioding’ everywhere… And not to get any of it on his stuff.” She said. She heard some of the people gasp again. Almost on cue Thaddeus’ mother started to sob. // Remy looked over to Cadence. “He’s such a bastard.” He whispered. // “Precisely.” Bliss said in reply to Steph. “There’s no way this can be misconstrued. At all.”

Covet: "Mhhm. Absolutely awful." She said softly wiping her eyes.  // All Eli could do was sit in disbelief hearing the kind fo intentional treatment Thad had given Hayley. // Felix had to agree with Steph and Bliss, "Let's just hope the Jury is feeling the same way."
Alexithymiaa: "They have to..." She mumbled, dropping her eyes down to her lap again as she listened to Hayley continue. "That son of a bitch..." // Adam frowned as she went on, remembering that night vividly, though he didnt realize Hayley had been hiding from him at the time.-
Tsaaq: Anderson glanced around then went to look back at Hayley. “When Thaddeus kidnapped you on the tenth of January twenty sixteen, what do you remember?”// She tucked some of her hair behind her ear and shifted in her seat. “I was in my then boyfriend’s house, doing my hair. I was going out to hang out with my friends and somebody came into the apartment. The next thing I knew I was some dark room. And that’s when I was dragged into somebody’s lap and I was penetrated.” Hayley answered. // “And for the duration of the days you were there you were forced into sexual acts?” He inquired. // “Yes. Although after the first day I can’t remember a lot of it. I was cold and dehydrated.” She said. // “Tell me Hayley, after all this, how was YOUR mental state?” Anderson looked to the jury then glanced to Thad himself. // “I wasn’t doing well… I thought about dying all the time. It was like that for a long time. Since the first time I was assaulted I was very depressed. I tried to commit suicide several times. And I’ve had to have a stay at a mental facility because of it.” Hayley responded. // “And your physical health?” He quickly asked. // “That wasn’t too good either. And recently I’ve found out that due to the vigorous assaults I’ve endured I’ve been rendered infertile.” She explained. // Anderson nodded his head slowly as the crowd gasped again. “Sounds a lot of like you’ve been doing a lot more suffering than Thaddeus has for his untreated mental health. But that’s just what I’ve taken away from all this. Thank you very much Hayley for that testimony.” He said softly to her. “Prosecution rests.” // He released a sigh of relief. “She did good.” He murmured. Sasha patted Remy’s shoulder then finally released it. Remy went to wipe Cadence’s eyes with his sleeve. “Please don’t cry.” // “There is no way they don’t feel that way.” Bliss looked to the jury, trying to gauge their reactions.
Covet: "Sorry." She said softly, though that didn't exactly stop any of it, as she recalled some of the more truamatic thinks she'd been through with Hayley. // Eli looked at the jury, "Especially with those last statements." // Felix just listened to what was being said and was shocked that something so extreme had happened to Hayley, he couldn't imagine what she was like going through all of that, because she'd seemed pretty grounded when they'd talked.
Alexithymiaa: "There's no way..." She spoke in a small voice, her eyes lifting to stare at Hayley before narrowing her eyes on Marty because she knew he was coming next and he was a fucking douchebag. // When Anderson walked away, Adam flashed Hayley a smile and a quick thumbs up to let her know she was doing well with her testimony.-
Tsaaq: Marty rose from his seat and went over to the stand. "Hello Ms. Berkoff." He said with a smile. "I hope you don't mind if I ask you a few things about your relationship with my client?" // "Of course not." Hayley replied and gave him a bit of a smile after flashing Adam and smile as well. // "Well then... Why don't you tell me about March fifteenth, twenty sixteen?" He inquired with a raise of his eyebrow. // Hayley shook her head as she frowned. "I don't know anything special about that day..." She murmured. // "Oh... Really? My client says that on March fifteenth, twenty sixteen you consented to sexual intercourse with him and continued to pursue a phsyical relationship with him." Marty said as he looked out at the audience. // Hayley's face went blank as she looked between Marty and Adam. Looking helpless. "Well-" // "Did you or did you not come into my client's room in your underwear and declare that you wanted to have sexual intercourse with him?" Marty said louder. // "Objection your honor!" Prosecution yelled. // "On what grounds?" Judge Frederick asked. // Remy's mouth fell open as he heard Marty's question. // Bliss covered her mouth in shock. "Oh no." She murmured. She looked to Hayley, trying to get her to speak.
Covet: Cadence lifted her head up and gave a glare at Marty then leaned up to whispered to Remy sharply, "Did she not just state that she's been emotionally unstable for the last two years? She can't be held accountable for consent in a situation like that."  // Eli was taken back confused as to why Hayley would have done something like that. // Felix cringed watching this guy pull out a possible ace.
Alexithymiaa: -Steph started to fidget in her seat, clearly uncomfortable with the questions Marty was asking of Hayley. She moved her hands to toy with the bottom of her shirt, twisting it between her fingers before moving onto wringing out her hands. // Adam started to shake his head to her, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly. He mouthed the word 'Explain' to her across the court room, hoping she would catch it.-
Tsaaq: “Immaterial your honor! Whether or not the witness had consented to sexual intercourse with the defendant doesn’t seem relevant to this case.” Anderson said with his eyebrow furrowing. // Judge Frederick rubbed his greying chin hairs. “Overruled…” He answered. “It’s relevant information.” // “What?” Anderson yelled in outrage. // Marty began to smirk. “Ms. Berkoff you are under oath. Did you have sex with my client or not?” // Hayley panted a moment as she looked up, trying not to cry as she looked to Adam, embarrassed and ashamed all at once, she couldn’t focus. “Yes, I did do that. But my boyfriend had just dumped me and he cheated on me and-“She attempted to explain in a small voice. // “And you cheated on him too.” Marty finished her sentence. “Not with my client but it was information you had shared with him. Did you not?” He asked loudly. // She inhaled deeply and bit the inside of her cheek. “I did.” She replied. // “Is your mental health the result of a few unfortunate experiences, or of your genetic parentage?” Marty asked quickly. // She sniffled a little as she looked up to him once more. “What are you trying to say?” She asked in a pained voice. // “Your honor none of this is relevant to this case!” Anderson said again. “He’s harassing the witness and trying to make her argumentive!” // He balled his fist and began to stand up in fury. // “Son, stop!” Sasha whispered as he pulled him back into his seat. // She put her hand to her chest and glanced at Eli. “Why isn’t the judge listening to Mr. Anderson?”
Covet: Cadence frowned looking at Hayley, then was completey stunned at the accusation that Marty gave in regards to the reasoning for her mental state. She gripped Remy's leg tightly as he tried to get up, though she couldn't blame him she was pissed and upset too, wiping her eyes again. // Eli shook his head and looked for Sedrick because he wasn't sure why this was happening, but he was none to impressed with his response. // Felix gave Steph's shoulders a comforting squeeze, "Jeeze this guy is a real number."
Alexithymiaa: "He's a douchebag." She corrected Felix, because don't fucking sugarcoat it, Marty sucks and everyone knows it. She frowned as he pestered Hayley, glancing around the court room. "He's not allowed to do that..." // Adam could feel his face growing hot as Marty accused Hayley of a number of things, and without thinking, he stood from his seat, raising his voice a bit so it would carry across the court room. "Objection, your honor, on grounds of speculation, incompetency, and hearsay. The witness cannot confirm or deny a genetic link between her lineage and her mental health, she was not in a competent state to give consent during the aforementioned event of March fifteenth, twenty sixteen given her previous testimony on record on her health, and Mr. Goldsmith has not proven with any viable scientific evidence in this court room that Ms. Berkoff's mental health is related to a hereditary deformity." All he could hear was his own heart thundering in his ears as it slowly sank in that he just stood up in the middle of the fucking case, his body slowly lowering himself back down to his seat, but honestly he was still mad.-
Tsaaq: “Fine.” Judge Frederick finally said. “Let that last part of the cross examination be stricken from the record.” He declared. “You may continue Mr. Goldsmith-” He paused as he looked to Adam as he spoke. “And are you her lawyer?” Frederick said with a raise of his eyebrow. “Answer quickly young man or you will be held in contempt of court.” He said sternly. // Marty rose his eyebrows slyly as he looked over to Adam then back to Hayley. // Hayley parted her lips as she sniffled. She looked at Adam and wiped her eyes before any tears could fall. She put her hands in her lap and a she fell silent. // Anderson looked back at Adam with his mouth hung open. // He was inhaling and exhaling angrily up until Adam said things. “Junior what are you doing?” He asked quietly. // Sedrick frowned. “The only thing I can think of is… Bias.” He shook his head with a disappointed look. He looked at Adam with wide eyes. // “Elijah go see if Adam’s okay.” Bliss nudged him.
Covet: Cadence just kind of stared at Adam waiting for him to answer, because holy shit Adam. // Eli was stunned and looked at Bliss, "Uh.. can I do that?" He asked looking over to Sedrick, then back at Bliss. "I think he is, but is Adam correct with all that?" // "What do you have to say about that douchebag." Felix whispered to Steph providing commentary.
Alexithymiaa: -Steph stared at Adam through wide eyes, very faintly shaking her head. "It doesn't matter... he's not allowed to just interject. Only her representation can." // Adam swallowed hard and stood up again to address the judge. "No, your honor. My apologies. I'll remain quiet for the remainer of the trial." He sat back down again, rubbing his hand uncomfortably over the back of his neck.-
Tsaaq: Frederick nodded his head. "Thank you." He spoke firmly. "You may proceed." He said as he glanced at Marty. // Marty nodded before turning to Hayley. “I don’t mean to offend you. I apologize.” He said. “I do have another question for you. Who took you from your ex-boyfriend’s house?” // Hayley inhaled deeply as she calmed. She shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know. Their faces were covered.” // “Well Ms. Berkoff. You weren’t taken away by Thaddeus. You were taken away by Devin Vogel. That was his responsibility. And the first time you were assaulted in the warehouse? Was Devin Vogel, as described in detail in Thaddeus’ written confession.” // Remy shook his head. “Son of a bitch.” He muttered. Jacque and Sasha looked proudly at Adam they didn’t know he was fucking up. They’re from New Jersey and don’t know a lot about court. They were just happy somebody stopped the madness. // “Can he?” Bliss asked Sedrick. // “Best not to interrupt the case anymore. We already look bad.” Sedrick answered quietly.
Covet: "Thad also admitted to working together with Devin in that videod confession Felix sent us." Cadence whispered to Remy, wondering if that was going to be considered part of his confession as well or not.  // Eli noddid his head and looked down at Adam, with a soft frown, "But Anderson should have been on that. He wouldn't be making us look bad if he was on top of Marty." He mumbled. // "Should have said you were, Adam. You'd be doing better than their current representative." Felix stated softly with a frown.
Alexithymiaa: "He's not allowed to. He doesn't have a license to practice law. You cant just decide to represent someone without a license, Arizona. Regardless of how much I agree with you." She twisted her fingers together, leaning into Felix's side. "I don't know why he's harrassing her so much. He's definitely not within his legal right." // Adam nodded his head to the judge and sealed his lips shut, clasping his hands together in his lap as he watched Hayley.-
Tsaaq: He began to smirk. “Your boyfriend at the time was a Tony Rogers? Correct.” // Hayley nodded her head. “Yes sir.” She answered. // “Did you know that Vogel had reached out to Thaddeus? Asking for justice? He felt scorned by his former best friend after he and Tony quarreled. Which then led to the planning and perpetration of the breaking and entering and sexual assault in question?” // Hayley pouted “I know that Tony had beat of Devin really bad around then.” // Remy shook his head. “He’s saying that it wasn’t Thad’s idea…” He trailed off. “That’s his endgame.” // “Hey kid, you did a great job. Fuck that guy.” Jacqueline said in a not quiet voice at all smh. // Sedrick eyes widened as he pointed to Eli and Felix. “You heard him! He objected, just as Adam did. And Frederick was going to strike it from the record anyways. It was an unnecessary outburst. I don’t care how right he was.” He argued quietly, scolding the two of them. “Anderson is doing his best. And we could be dealing with much worse. A prosecutor that is empathetic to a cause is good. Do not mistake it. We could have a prosecutor who doesn’t care about the dead or women’s rights whatsoever, phoning it it. He’s trying hard every night he’s in this courtroom.”// “Something the matter Mr. Maverick?” Frederick asked, seeing him fussing in the audience. // “Nothing sir. I apologize.” Sedrick sat back and exhaled, giving Anderson an apologetic look. // Bliss pressed her lips together as she attempted a poker face. Feeling a little dour.
Covet: "Who cares if it wasn't his idea, He still helped execute it, and Thad already had it out for Hayley before the kidnapping." Cadence whispered back. // Eli sighed and nodded his head, turning back to hear where Marty's scumbag ass was going to take this. // "But you can represent yourself if you want? And how many criminals actually have law degrees?" Felix asked confused by the legal system, then looked at Sedrick, "Sorry... I don't really know how shit works." He said quietly.

Alexithymiaa: "I don't know. Just... shh." Steph tried to shush Felix from getting in any more trouble with their lawyer, slumping down in her seat further as she listened to Marty continue his questions. "I can't listen to him insinuate that Thad isnt  complete filth..." She spoke in a small voice, rubbing her hands beneath her glasses. // Adam took a few steadying breaths, glancing at Marty before going back to Hayley. He was going to do his damnest not to speak in the court room from now on because he was kind of in hot water.-
Tsaaq: “So it looks like Vogel was more motivated for revenge than Thaddeus had been.” Marty said. “How could you be sure he’s completely responsible? Would he had done all of those things without Devin in his corner?” He waved his hand at Thaddeus who was just sitting there with his head down. // Hayley bit the inside of her cheek. “I suppose I can’t be sure sir. But I do know that Thaddeus has been malicious towards me ever since I initially rejected him” She said with a frown. // He gave a condescending nod as he looked to the jury. “You can’t be sure.” He repeated. “The defense rests.” Marty said, going back to his seat. // “Thank you mister Goldsmith and the witness who testified. We will pick up on the ninth of January but for now court is adjourned. Goodnight.” He banged his gavel. // Hayley left the stand and immediately went over to Adam, wrapping her arms around him. // Remy shook his head. “Whatever. I don’t even know anymore.” He muttered. // Bliss inhaled deeply and looked to Eli. “That went well?” She said.
Covet: Cadence wrapped her arms around herself. "Only thing is to listen to him now. I don't even know where we stand with the jury right now." she said glancing over at them, then yawned. " I'm exhausted, can we go home now?" // Eli took a deep breath. I hope so, but I feel like it's close at the moment." He said standing up to take Bliss' hand. // Felix stood up, just wanting to get out of there before any of the circus could start up. He knew Steph would be more than happy to get out of there as well. "C'mon. We've got a book to read, and hopefully some sleep to get to."
Alexithymiaa: "I don't want to sleep..." She said in a small voice, reaching for Felix's hand as they headed for the exit to dodge the media and shit. // Adam wrapped his arms around Hayley when she made her way over to him. "I'm sorry for my outburst. But what he was doing was wrong and I was upset. I promise I won't interject at all for the rest of the trial." He rubbed his hand over her back, gesturing toward the door. "We need to get out of here."-
Tsaaq: "It's okay. You were defending me." Hayley told him as she took his hand before kissing him. "Yes please. I want to go home." // Remy shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know either." He said quietly. "Come on mom and dad." // Jacque looked at the two of then. "Why do you guys look  bummed, obviously they'll listen to Hayley." // "Well hopefully justice will finally come to the victims." Bliss said, heading out of the courtroom.
