- [17:41] <Cynis_Kyrin> "I got the windslave! :D" Kyrin's voice is just a little above a whisper.
- [17:42] <Mnemon_Rin> "It looks sort of... funny," Rin says lowly, eying the artifact suspiciously.
- [17:43] <Cynis_Kyrin> "It's one Grandpa altered himself, so it's a bit... different. Should be big enough."
- [17:43] <Cynis_Kyrin> "That and he put this in my pocket as well. It looks a bit weird for a compass..."
- [17:43] <Cynis_Kyrin> (Mond spilled it to her.)
- [17:44] <Mnemon_Rin> "Excellent. That'll mean we won't have to use elementals much, if at all." Rin grabs the compass from Kyrins hand, peering closely at it. "Do you know what it does?"
- [17:44] <Cynis_Kyrin> "It... well, I think it's like an artifact compass, but I don't have anything to test it with."
- [17:46] <Mnemon_Rin> A tall, lean, dark-skinned man with long auburn hair comes up behind Rin, looking very relaxed in a loose robe. He is holding a large book. Kyrin recognizes him as Brand's human form.
- [17:46] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Hi, Brand." :D
- [17:46] <Mnemon_Rin> "A hearthstone?"
- [17:47] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Don't think it'd work for this type. Hearthstone compasses are a little different. Though, we could try one out, I have one."
- [17:47] * Cynis_Kyrin also has a thin, dusty looking book in her hands, probably something off topic.
- [17:47] <Mnemon_Rin> "Hello m'lady," Brand purrs in his smooth baritone.
- [17:48] <Mnemon_Rin> "Hmm." Rin scratches her chin. "How about this?" She digs out some of the dead crystals from the assassin, holding them out in her palm.
- [17:48] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Hm... Point, point, we could use that..."
- [17:51] <Mnemon_Rin> "Well, we can pursue that at our leisure."
- [17:51] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Yeah, but there's something else..."
- [17:51] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Um, Grandfather knew about the crystal, or at least what it was."
- [17:52] <Cynis_Kyrin> "And said there was a sort of key that could open it..."
- [17:52] <Cynis_Kyrin> "We probably should track that down too, just in case."
- [17:52] <Mnemon_Rin> "How intriguing..."
- [17:52] <Mnemon_Rin> "Yes, of course we should track it down." she says, leaning in close unconciously. "We wouldn't want it falling
- [17:53] <Mnemon_Rin> into the wrong hands."
- [17:53] <Cynis_Kyrin> "That's why I think he gave me the compass, actually..."
- [17:53] <Cynis_Kyrin> "But testing it is a good idea."
- [17:53] <Mnemon_Rin> "I'd like to know where the assassin's gem came from anyway."
- [17:54] <Mnemon_Rin> "Oh!" She whips around to face Brand, hair twirling. "How could I forget," she says, taking the book from her familiar, then turning to hold it up to her friend. "Look what I found deep within the forbidden section of the library." It's the abridged version of something called 'The Book of Three Circles.'
- [17:55] * Cynis_Kyrin blinks once, and her jaw simply *drops.*
- [17:55] * Mnemon_Rin smiles gleefully.
- [17:56] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Maybe it has the crystal spell and we can confirm it?" She whispers.
- [17:57] <Mnemon_Rin> "I even managed to get it checked out," she says in an equally low voice. "So we have our leisure to pursue it. I do hope to find the crystal spell within."
- [17:58] * Cynis_Kyrin inhales sharply though her nose, obviously keeping herself calmly.
- [17:59] <Mnemon_Rin> Rin tucks the book under her shoulder, a bit smug about the whole thing. "So what's that book you have there?" she asks with forced casualness.
- [18:00] <Cynis_Kyrin> She holds it up. "It's just someone's old journal." She looks dejected. "It doesn't belong to the school and it looks like something a student left behind. So I'll use it for research material."
- [18:01] <Mnemon_Rin> "/That/ kind of research material?"
- [18:02] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Mhm. My editor said I might be able to take advantage of one of the novels I wrote and make a sequel."
- [18:05] <Mnemon_Rin> She nods. "Looks like we got much accomplished on our little trip here. Stay a few more days, perhaps, then head out?"
- [18:06] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Maybe somewhere else? I don't wish to stay in grandpapa's hair too much and we can research somewhere else."
- [18:06] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Like away from those star-spider-people Sarika's fiance was about."
- [18:08] <Mnemon_Rin> "You really think they are here?"
- [18:08] <Cynis_Kyrin> "This /was/ the place I heard about them... and Fiara was a student here too..."
- [18:10] <Mnemon_Rin> "Hmph. I say tomorrow morning, then. It's late enough that leaving now would be odd, and I would like to have some time to socialize with Senex. I see him rarely enough as it is."
- [18:10] <Cynis_Kyrin> "And people might get curious here too..."
- [18:10] <Cynis_Kyrin> She nods.
- [18:10] <Cynis_Kyrin> "As much as I'd like to stay for a few days, you said we can take the book out."
- [18:12] <Mnemon_Rin> "Yes. After more paperwork than I'd care to remember." She glowers at the mere memory.
- [18:12] <Cynis_Kyrin> "But still, the book! :o"
- [18:14] <Mnemon_Rin> "It's true," she whispers, raising her chin and putting her hand to her chest, "it was worth it," she finishes dramatically.
- [18:14] * Cynis_Kyrin blows a raspberry.
- [18:15] * Mnemon_Rin drops the pose and giggles.
- [18:15] <Cynis_Kyrin> "I'll go bother Grandpa more and see if he's willing to jump with me a little bit then." She grins. "Unless you're willing to have me tag along to see Senex."
- [18:16] <Mnemon_Rin> She shrugs. "If you want. How well did you get along with the Old Man, anyway? I get the feeling you were always too passive for his taste."
- [18:16] <Cynis_Kyrin> (You mean Senex?)
- [18:17] <Cynis_Kyrin> "I didn't talk to him much. I was usually hiding behind books like a nervous little girl like I did with most teachers. I only really started talking after my sacrifice, remember? And I didn't have him as a teacher afterward."
- [18:17] <Mnemon_Rin> (yes. his somewhat derogatory nickname is Old Man)
- [18:19] <Mnemon_Rin> She nods absently, remembering. "Up to you. We'll probably just talk about old times, how silly the new students are, and maybe some thaumaturgic theory."
- [18:20] <Cynis_Kyrin> "That works just fine. Grandpa and I can go jumping another time."
- [18:20] <Cynis_Kyrin> (Jumping being what happens when you have two drifty Air Aspects who like the wind.)
- [18:20] <Mnemon_Rin> (I guessed something like that)
- [18:20] <Mnemon_Rin> "Do I want to know what 'jumping' is?"
- [18:21] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Remember, we have towers."
- [18:21] <Cynis_Kyrin> "And we're both Air Aspects."
- [18:23] <Mnemon_Rin> "Really, that's what you do for fun?" She shutters just a bit.
- [18:24] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Sometimes? It's an elemental thing, I guess. Both obsessed with the sky and air and the wind."
- [18:25] <Mnemon_Rin> "Yeah yeah, it makes sense, it's just... not something I'd want to do." She smiles. "But I'm sure you enjoy it."
- [18:26] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Pretty much. I never would expect you to do it, I'd probably go with suggesting you jump in a lake with your anima up."
- [18:27] * Mnemon_Rin crosses her arms and frowns.
- [18:27] <Cynis_Kyrin> "What? o.o"
- [18:28] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Wait, you wouldn't be protected from the steam, would you? :/"
- [18:29] <Mnemon_Rin> She drops her arms and laughs a bit. "Y'know, I've never tried, so I honestly don't know."
- [18:29] <Mnemon_Rin> "Still doesn't sound like my idea of a good time, even though I'd a decent swimmer."
- [18:30] <Cynis_Kyrin> "I think it's okay... but I figured the steam might be refreshing."
- [18:31] <Mnemon_Rin> "I'd rather sit in a sauna." She wraps an arm around Kyrin's shoulders. "Y'know, I haven't used a sauna for some time. We should find one when we get back."
- [18:32] <Cynis_Kyrin> "Agreed!"
- [18:34] <Cynis_Kyrin> (I'll get this onto pastebin and hand it to Insecure.)
