  1. ##Torture vs Corv:
  2.
  3. #Corv 1:
  4.
  5. - Kraven has map advantage because he's an outdoorsman.
  6.
  7. - Torture's team couldn't tell his animal scouts apart from native wildlife because they're unfamiliar with North America.
  8.
  9. - Kraven busts brick and wood. Craters concrete.
  10.
  11. - Takes Spidey hits in similar range.
  12.
  13. - Outruns gazelles, matches 15x human reactions.
  14.
  15. - Meme accurate spears.
  16.
  17. - Literally a van full of gear.
  18.
  19. - Guts is Guts.
  20.
  21. - Corv's team has mobility advantage w/ the Kravan. Will get to town first and trap it. Animal scouts let them maintain awareness of the opponents' positions to optimise this strategy.
  22.
  23. - Kraven is stealthy enough to ambush despite Torture's picks' super senses.
  24.
  25. - Team Torture lack feats for dealing with Kraven's traps and poisons.
  26.
  27. - Kraven has a stinky fruit that nullifies superhuman smell. This cripples Tanjiro bc he needs his smell to properly align his sword for piercing.
  28.
  29. - In a swordfight, Guts overpowers Team Torture and shatters their swords if they clash. Zabuza's sword in particular is fragile.
  30.
  31. - Zabuza mist is mitigated by Kraven's senses. Guts can just swing blindly and still win.
  32.
  33. #Torture 1:
  34.
  35. - Zabuza generates thick, visibly obscuring mist.
  36.
  37. - Tanjiro has a powerful and precise sense of smell and will be able to track Corv's team by scent and alert his teammate to their presence.
  38.
  39. - Tanjiro cuts a boulder. Zabuza embeds his sword in rock. Team Corv gets pierced.
  40.
  41. - Zabuza also summons water clones that are difficult to discern from himself as a distraction.
  42.
  43. - Guts can't use his cannon because of the blinding mist. If he does, he might hit Kraven.
  44.
  45. - Guts swinging blindly is likely to hit Kraven too.
  46.
  47. - Team Torture has silent movement for ambushing through the mist. Guts is by conparison noisy and telegraphed.
  48.
  49. - Even if Kraven senses Team Torture's general location through the mist, it will still be hard to hit them with precision weapons like spears (?)
  50.
  51. - Guts's sword is blunt, Tanjiro & Zabuza have blunt dura.
  52.
  53. - Tanjiro can sniff out Kraven's traps.
  54.
  55. - Tanjiro just dodges the gourd.
  56.
  57. - No timeframe for Kraven setting up traps
  58.
  59. - Guts might step on traps in mist.
  60.
  61. - Kraven gets choice paralysis from his 40+ gear options and won't IC use them optimally.
  62.
  63. - Tanjiro could tell Kraven's animal scouts apart from normal animals because they'll smell like him.
  64.
  65. - Torture forgets the round is not in a subway.
  66.
  67. #Corv 2:
  68.
  69. - Kraven smells good.
  70.
  71. - Unconceded movement speed superiority.
  72.
  73. - Team Corv controls how engagement happens.
  74.
  75. - Team Corv has far superior reaction times + combat speed.
  76.
  77. - Even if Team Torture was fast enough to react to Guts's sword swing, if they tried to block/parry their sword would break and they'd still die.
  78.
  79. - OFC Dragonslayer cuts things.
  80.
  81. - Mist isn't as useful as claimed---Kraven could just leave or use AOE attacks that don't hurt Guts. Guts can fight off of instinct without needing to see and his big sword is a functional aoe.
  82.
  83. - Mist hurts Team Torture, blinds them to Kraven's projectiles. Have no way of seeing him throw the gourd making it more likely to hit.
  84.
  85. - Tanjiro loses piercing if the gourd hits, might not be to pierce Guts's armour anyway.
  86.
  87. - Kraven's pets wouldn't smell like him because he doesn't need to touch them to command them. They are inconspicuous to Team Torture and can alert Kraven from far away.
  88.
  89. - Tanjiro fails to avoid some of the traps in the feat used to argue he detects them. Kraven has fake out traps that let him think he's escaped while poisoning him with tiny nicks.
  90.
  91. - Zabuza's water attacks aren't impressive, can be tanked.
  92.
  93. - Kraven probably moves and throws things faster than the random demon cited for Tanjiro's projectile dodging. Could bean him with gourd.
  94.
  95. - The amount of gear does not matter. He regularly uses traps and rays as part of standard arsenal and will observe to determine what specialised gear will work best. He can carry it all in his van.
  96.
  97. #Torture 2:
  98.
  99. - Antelope feat for Kraven is wanked---why assume they're running at top speed or that they aren't a slower species of antelope?
  100.
  101. - Kraven's van won't drive well offroad. Two for one on misunderstanding maps.
  102.
  103. - Guts has a horse. Why would he abandon it to get in a van?
  104.
  105. - Zabuza is "blur speed" and walks on water. More manoeuvrable than Guts.
  106.
  107. - Tanjiro is "visually fast" and has good footing.
  108.
  109. - Gourd isn't AOE, it's a water balloon.
  110.
  111. - Kraven is vulnerable to his own AOE grenades.
  112.
  113. - Kraven wouldn't know Tanjiro had super smell by looking at him. Why would he use the gourd?
  114.
  115. - The animals smell like Kraven because he trained them and regularly interacts with them. Kraven himself probably reeks because he's a stinky jungle man.
  116.
  117. - Team Torture are familiar with fighting in heavily forested mountains.
  118.
  119. - Team Torture are probably familiar with some of Kraven's exotic animals and others like the Savage Land dinos plainly stick out.
  120.
  121. - The animals get oneshot and can't communicate complex info to Kraven.
  122.
  123. - Tanjiro didn't dodge the traps because he'd barely started training. Later in his training, he learns to dodge them despite his teacher using increasingly dangerous traps.
  124.
  125. - The traps he dodges for training are specifically the same kind Kraven uses.
  126.
  127. - The fakeout traps only inflict poison if they pierce. Tanjiro's uniform stops demon fangs.
  128.
  129. - New speed feats. Zabuza dodges extremely close range kunai from behind. Tanjiro is FTE and scales to a guy who dodges extremely close range sword swings.
  130.
  131. - Guts is enraged while wearing his armour and would not cooperate with Kraven or retreat from the mist.
  132.
  133. - Guts instinct feats only let him vaguely feel like an enemy is near. Won't compensate for blindness in mist. He won't be able to see enough to intuit where enemy is attacking from.
  134.
  135. - Water vortex creates thousands of tonnes of water. Uproots trees in the feat linked. Guts can't swim with heavy armour. Neither can dodge because they're blinded by mist and standing in Kraven's own trap minefield.
  136.
  137. ##Results:
  138.
  139. I want to preface this by saying I think this is the best round I've ever seen from Torture. Particularly in the second response you worked out a presentable formatting, effectively countered several points, and brought in really relevant objective feats to shore up your characters.
  140.
  141. That being said, Corv still takes this.
  142.
  143. Things I bought:
  144.
  145. - Team Corv has superior movement speed and get to town first to trap it up. Torture misinterpreted the map, there are paved roads Kraven can drive on.
  146.
  147. - Team Corv are physically superior to Team Torture in every core stat and trounce them in direct melee.
  148.
  149. - Guts shatters any sword he clashes with.
  150.
  151. - Tanjiro can probably get through the traps and isn't pierced by the fakeout ones.
  152.
  153. - Tanjiro can pierce either of Corv's picks.
  154.
  155. - Tanjiro can smell out Kraven and his animals.
  156.
  157. Things I didn't buy:
  158.
  159. - Most of the animal scouts are conspicuous and can only communicate the enemies' general location to Kraven.
  160.
  161. - The gourd is a non factor. Kraven has no way of plausibly scouting Tanjiro's super smelling to know to use it and Tanjiro could probably just dodge it anyway. Its range sucks anyway and Kraven has no feats for throwing blind.
  162.
  163. - The water vortex doesn't meaningfully hurt either of Corv's picks. At most it inconveniences them, but they have sufficient durability to take it.
  164.
  165. - The mist probably hurts Torture's picks as much as it does Corv. The kunai dodge is nice but neither of Torture's picks have demonstrated blind reactions that would compensate for the loss of visual movement to telegraph enemy attacks.
  166.
  167. A lot of Corv's gimmicks ultimately didn't impress me once Torture interrogated them, but the core reality is that his team had demonstrated core stats that made them more likely to win. Torture's team had excellent piercing but that's it. No real stealth to capitalise on the mist, insufficient speed to keep up once the fight got started, and no resistance to being beaten down or pierced/poisoned by either of Corv's characters.
  168.
  169. Even a blind, flailing Guts is a ten foot zone of death Torture's picks can't approach, and Kraven has at least some answer to the must in the form of his smell/animal scouts and is free to leave at any time and just fire into it with his guns and grenades. The traps also balance out the mist as a factor, as while Tanjiro was proven to be able to avoid them, Zabuza had no arguments suggesting he could do the same, meaning a significant chance of him being taken out early and the mist negated.
  170.
  171. In the future, I think Torture could benefit from focusing on strong openings articulating clear and well rounded stats for his team before delving into gimmicks, and explaining wincons in more depth to showcase how his team take advantage of the advantages their powers create. Formatting is starting to look good so keep doing what you did for R2 and you should be fine.
