- [13:15] The Ent's roots were ingrained within the soils around as it rested under the cascading stars of the evening skies. Their Silverline optics shifting towards that of the approaching group as the tremors radiated through the earths it rested. Cold in their presence as it watched, it's attentions shifting first to the Fae as they moved to land within it's branches a simple nod crossing as it looked from face to face. Recognizing one of the many youths presented, a series of questions earlier.
- "Greetings." It's tones of wrath and torment radiated across the airs in horror. "Its come to my attention questions and things of the like were to be had?"
- (Willowtalon)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:15] Lilian whispers to Jude Cirque: Hi, Jude!
- [13:16] Lilian whispers to Jude Cirque: I spoke to this ent earlier, actually -- about Nyx.
- [13:16] Lilian whispers to Jude Cirque: I think we have everything we need.
- [13:16] Jude Cirque whispers to Lilian: Huh... wow.
- [13:16] Jude Cirque whispers to Lilian: Y'work fast.
- [13:17] Lilian settles down upon the silt, and her notepad is extracted from the depths of her sleeve, then passed unto Jude for perusal.
- (Lilian)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:20] Umibozu grabbed hold of his sides and straightened his back. A sharp set of teeth flashed the towering Ent as the young shark lad's eyes narrowed. What a sight to behold. He hid his nervousness well behind that cheeky grin.
- "Aye. Seems'yer 'eally a big ol' tree. M' curious though. Been livin in the great open sea fer m' whole life. Ain' never seen'a Ent in the ocean. But we got forests down there, yuh know. Oceanz'a big place. Endless waters."
- Hands grasped the boy's chin as he pondered how exactly he should ask this question, before nodding.
- "Wonderin if yuh'd ever seen or heard've'a ocean Ent. Kelp variety'or somthin. Us Sirenians come'n'all shapes n'sizes. Variety's our strength as'a people. Ents the same?"
- (Umibozu)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:21] Zoraia stares at the Ent with what can only be described as awe. A primordial and imposing beast, to be certain. She had only read books about these creatures, but seeing one in person leaves her essentially completely awestruck. She shakily retrieves her notebook from her bag, but is a little too stunned by the nature-entity to dare ask it any questions. This is a being that- to her senses- radiates power.
- The way its voice echoes with what feels akin to rage only seems to add to the creature's imposing nature. Are all Ents like this? Is it doing that on purpose, or is that just its natural state of being? "...woah." A slightly sloppy sketch of the ent is slowly drawn out over her notebook. She's gotten better at drawing, so it's not that bad, but she certainly couldn't do it justice via art.
- (Zoraia)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:22] Following the fairy Ranym through the woods the boy would have to keep a close watch on them as he had trouble keeping track of them. As they came to what looked like to be ruins of sorts almost they came onto Willow a giant Ent who's root like feet were imbedded into the ground. "Woah."
- He said in shock as he looked upon the creature in awe for a while. Listening to them speak the boy's hand immediately shot up into the air as he tried his best to be called on. Looking around at the other students he tried to see their reaction's as his own was one of complete excitement. As Umibozu shot off his question the boy did his best to contain himself as he waited to see what Willow had to say.
- His hand still hanging up in the air.
- (Marcellus)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:24] Of course, he who was totally not late strides with a sly and subtle shift to stand beside his class partner. The silver locks flowing with a groggy cadence as Jude arrives just in-time...
- He still had questions, especially from last time. "Hey," he greets with an added huff in his breath. "Y'remember me?" In hindsight, without context such may come off as an attempt to be intimidating, yet his expression and general disposition contrasts the potential misconception.
- A hand is raised, posing that he had his own queries, but allows those who had come earlier to ask first.
- (Jude Cirque)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:31] A voice peered through, a sirenian of shark-like qualities presenting forth a question towards that of the Ent. Was there an Ocean Ent? In truth Willowtalon couldn't necessarily answer this question as they were one of the earths and nature. Yet the oceanic forests were a piece of the natural-worlds with such perhaps one of the wrathful presences of nature could embody such aspects?
- "Like that of the sirenian Ent's come in many shapes and forms. We've not seen one of oceanic linage but we've seen burning iron-wood, Glacial woods and others of Earth like ourselves. With such we could perhaps take form towards the waters and manifest. Yet such would require a 'great' wrong within the kelps underneath."
- Forces of Nature, the wrathful presence it could withhold due to imbalance placed upon it. It seemed within the realm of possibility that such could happen given the circumstances. Yet the water based schools weren't completely outside the realms of possibility around such creatures. A number of its kin that's stepped forth practiced such lines after all.
- Answering the first question it could its gaze shifted taking notice towards that of a lifted hand.
- "Yes?"
- It's echoed tone's rang out the reflections of what composed such a being and as it heard the Cirques voice a confirming nod was presented. A being presented in the last sessions they withheld one that left 'early' in such hasted meetings the last time Ranym brought forth a group of students. It remembered their presence despite changes presented from age?
- (Willowtalon)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:35] Seeing Jude being called on first the boy continued to leave his hand up in the air. The words Willow spoke interested the boy a slight amount as he would think back to his travel's with his uncle on his ship. Having never heard of a creature like an Ent having been talked of by the sailors he doubted it would be true.
- (Marcellus)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:37] With closed eyes he nodded his head, mumbling to himself as Willowtalon spoke. It was possible. Probably. And it would appear Ents share the same variety of form like that of Sirens. An answer to his question. For now, he'd stand there quietly examining the conversations and questions that would come next.
- The whirlpool that is his mind would churn, trying to think of something else to ask.
- (Umibozu)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:38] Of course, stragglers get the attention last; that much he understood. And yet, the weight of the burning questions he still withheld, no thanks to his excessive need to depart at an earlier time.
- "I still... want t'know somethin'," he opens. Perhaps Lilian had already asked prior, most especially thanks to her initiative to ask early. However, Jude remained in the dark. The query imposed upon his curiosity thrumming with intrigue. "What's your opinion on a cursed place like the Shadowmire?"
- "The plants around it adapted t'be harsher, more dangerous, but stronger. But it's corruption, others have said it ain't natural." The opinions of others clearly acting as bias to what he believed was the truth: purification is nothing without corruption.
- An odd balance. "What do y'think?" Though blunt in his query, a subtle hint of respect was present. One he bestowed upon the Entwithout much second thought. Such reflected in the mannerisms of his speech.
- (Jude Cirque)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:41] As he was letting the gears in his mind turn at a question to ask as Jude went and asked his own. A intrigued look was cast over to Jude wondering what would make them want to ask such a thing. Having never heard of the shadow mire he would be interested as it sounded to be a dangerous place.
- (Marcellus)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:44] Once she's noted down the questions that the others are asking (and the answer it gave to the shark-lad's highly interesting question), Zoraia hesitantly raises her hand from the back. Getting over the awe of seeing such a powerful force of nature in person isn't easy, but she manages regardless. She simply waits, patiently, with her raised hand while simultaneously listening to the others asking their own questions.
- The Shadowmire… it'd be interesting to hear Willowtalon's opinion on that accursed place. All she knew it was a place of nightmares, death, and decay.
- (Zoraia)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:45] Azed just silently observes the gathering with his hands behind his back, quietly hearing the questions and answers, wondering what each student will ask
- (Azed Bolim)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:53] Before transformation as an Ent within the worlds around, the creature once rested amongst the corruption. Perhaps a tree deep within the tainted earths that composed of the place in question. The Land of Nyx, the Shadowmire. The opinion withheld by the Ent towards such a place was no secret towards those around as it felt there was a purpose within. For where many seen a corrupted land that once extended its reach further and further into the forests of Esshar. The Ent a very indifferent view, one spawned of the Dullahan King's stories, a tale of the Mire. A place said to be pure and blissful until that of mortal landings within the lands around. A story that suggested to it something 'deeper' towards the occulted taints that exude, the connection it maintained with Hel.
- "Difficult as you've answered half the question already. The nature's of that place adapted, perhaps stronger and harsher than what they would normally be but such is one of the biggest assets of the lands around. It's ability to overcome the obstacles presented."
- Their tormented tones crossed in immediate response looking around the groups as it seemed a few more hands were raising in question. It's own view yet to be shared as it more or less offered 'confirmation' towards a portion. So as it spoke once again it'd explain.
- "Many in the worlds around see the place as little more than a hindrance, a source of corruptions and a manufacturer of the occult. Yet such properties are a piece to the balance around. A story once shared suggested those lands weren't always dark and gloomy. Once a place of light and paradise to those that resided, a suggestion that the carnal energies that is has come to be known for were absorbed by the lands. If such is the case, a reason presents. Despite the oddities that can come forth we believe it absorbs the negative energy produced by magic and cycles it through the earth. It reaches further as time passes but such reflects the energies of the world around. The misuse of magical properties."
- This wasn't only in reference towards that of the occult which fueled off such emotional resonance but towards all Magi in the lands around, those that would use their magics for negative impact. The hatred and fuel pushing forth across such actions. To siphon such energies and store it away, such was the truest belief of the Ent around such lands.
- With reason presented it shifted towards the lifted hands, prepared to hear both of those committing towards such acts and others that might have new question to share forth.
- "Yes?"
- (Willowtalon)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:56] Umi scratched his head with a rather puzzled expression.
- "Mmmm, s'a lota big words. Ain get'it but it's like this uh ' Mire'o'sorts is the depths of the ocean. Mysterious'n dark. Unforgivin'n'harsh. Need'the depths jus' as much as one needs the reefs...n the tides. T'sa balance o' the land....er somethin."
- (Umibozu)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:56] Willowtalon says, "Aye."
- [13:56] Umibozu says, "Just gotta adapt'n stuff."
- [13:58] The question that was asked was interesting and had an even more surprising answer to follow as he nodded along taking mental notes of the Ent's words his turn finally seemed to come around. "How do you feel about the impact of human life upon the land and its pro's and con's?"
- He would ask having wondered what the Ent thought over all of people in general.
- (Marcellus)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:58] Azed Bolim asks, "so the more hate we show to eachother, the stronger places like Shadowmire get ? that is the short of it ?"
- [13:58] Willowtalon says, "We believe so."
- [13:58] Balance.
- Much like nature's, a Cirque was unsurprisingly aligned with the same whims as life and growth. A necessary evil is how he penned down the response upon his notes.
- Perhaps it was what he expected to hear, considering a pleased disposition had presented itself upon the Cirque's expression. "A balance. I guess y'agree that too much for one thing ain't grand for the world, huh?"
- "Too much evil ain't nice. But too much good isn't the move either."
- He ponders out-loud, almost inviting another line of questioning to those that hear his own response.
- (Jude Cirque)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [13:58] Zoraia puts her hand down as she listens to and absorbs the answer, quickly writing down every vital (to her) bit of Willowtalon's reply. After a moment, her hand shoots back up into the air yet again. She really didn't want to miss out on the chance to ask it anything, but at the same time she doesn't want to be left without notes!
- Zoraia's question is admittedly somewhat simple, but she feels like it's a valid one. Entities such as Willowtalon are obviously rare, and there must be a reason for that. "Where do Ents come from? What causes them to sprout forth and grow?" Given the wrath in its resonating voice despite its seemingly calm demeanour, she has a few guesses...
- (Zoraia)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:11] A series of questions presenting forth as it took a moment to listen and consider each of them. The first of which, the Impact of Human life. A question it often asked itself especially as time moved forth. Periods of its life were the inherent wrath of its make overcame it, the judgement hence forth: Pests. At the time the Ent seen most of mortal-beings as little more than pests eating away at the lands around without second thought of consequence. A haze on the memory of such a creature shortly after the collapse of the Shadowlands, the confusions that set forth without the connections it held.
- Over time as it began to calm and look around it found other reason, new factors to consider towards such question. Towards such thought process, a growing acceptance towards some lives at the time. An example of which that of Azed, once a drunkard exploring new lands, now a formidable mage and one of their longest standing companions. Such beings helped open the realm of thought and possibility. Aided in viewing mortals a bit differently than simply 'pests'.
- "Mortal-kin are confusing to us. Many we've seen take advantage and harm the lands, each other or things of 'indifferent' thought. A state of war and ruin ravaging the lands around. Destruction, Ruin, the misuse of magic by mortals is a devastating thing. Yet others look upon such with 'sadness' and longing. Many would see the Nature's come forth once again and aid in the restorations of such loss. It is conflicting."
- Their attentions shifting next towards Jude as they asked about the balances a nod confirming as much as it's primary objective was to try and correct such imbalances. The reason it awoke and continues to pursue over the earths.
- "Balance. A consistent struggle, in which either side often views the other as little more than threat to be quelled. Yet without death, there is no life. Without creation there is nodestruction. A struggle that continues forth and effects the ebb and flow of all things. These lands around an example of such."
- Desolate, Ruined. Brought down by the misuse of Magics as it's come to know. Once full of life reduced to near nothingness. Yet signs of improvement continued to be held as works on the lands moved on.
- And towards that of Zoraia a question its been asked a few times over through the years. Yet one that opened many minds towards such beings of nature.
- "We are the manifestation of Nature. The voice of the Voiceless, Enforcers of the Land. We are brought by the pain and suffering from area's like this and others that's been hurt and angered. A force of corrections to bring forth balance once again."
- (Willowtalon)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:13] A nod was given as he silently listened to the Ent answer question after question that the students were asking him.
- (Marcellus)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:16] Those sharp teeth flashed the group once more as Umibozu smiled from ear to ear.
- "Aye. Like a Tsunami." He declared, a dark comparison, "Waves'll come n' wash away a town'r'city. Waves'll recede leaving the ground watered and bodies fer nature t' feast on. This the ocean's wrath. N'that means it's natures wrath. Balance 'tween land'n'sea. Give'n'take. This what that Ebb n Flow means?"
- (Umibozu)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:18] The 'voice of the voiceless'. Honestly, the words emanating from the massive creature sound somewhat inspiring, albeit highly intimidating. Indeed, when it turned its attention on her to give her an answer, she seemed to shrink back just a little, her confidence almost sapped from her. An example of wilds' fury being given form, voice, and power.
- There are a number of different Primordial entities that could have created the Ents, but truthfully? It would be even more terrifying if they simply began appearing out of nowhere one day. If they were truly born from the wrath of nature. It's a question that she simultaneously wants answered, but which she also really doesn't want to pressure Willowtalon on.
- Zoraia shakily notes the answer down. "Thank you, Willowtalon." A pause, before she asks a follow-up question. "What do you do to... correct the balance? Do you hunt people?"
- (Zoraia)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:21] He nods, further expanding upon his scribing as the answers flow as naturally as water fell from a waterfall. "I see, I see."
- To believe that there is a strike upon too much and too little. That much, he had bore to believe in.
- Yet by no means was his query the only one of interest. For his peers had already asked the queries he had planned to bring up prior. Well that's awfully convenient, wasn't it.
- Ergo, it was down to his final curiosity: "This is really interestin', and I appreciate y'wisdom. One last thing..."
- "Do y'think humans will be capable of doin' what Ents have been doin' for years? Becomin' a voice of nature or somethin'?"
- (Jude Cirque)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:21] Aladastros Brigger asks, "Ents?"
- [14:22] Aladastros looked...confused. Then he remembered the announcement about the ent fieldtrip. He scurried along, having little interest in the subject.
- (Aladastros Brigger)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:28] Azed let out a small cough hearing Jude's words, as if cleaning their throat before his gaze focused upon them.
- "Well some Humans are at least assisting the Ents with it, as for becoming voice of nature …"
- Azed did after all hear those whispers, after a curse that effected him, a gift.
- "Well … lets just say people are more than happy to call you a looney and crazy when you say you can hear and speak with nature, so I wish you good luck if you want to do so, but at the same time it is quite a … gift"
- Perhaps even some in here heard others call Azed just that, even more like 'groundsspeaker' instead of his actual title groundskeeper.
- "Then again, some do not believe even Fae exist, some see Ents as monsters that have to be killed, I still remember how many years ago some people tried to hunt down Willowtalon and other Ents, even threatened with their extermination"
- Truly closed minded people that were more than happy to call something a monster and kill it … except Willowtalon was a tough bark to cut.
- "Thankfully not everyone is like that, everyone in here has not raised their weapon against the Ent here today after all"
- (Azed Bolim)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:39] Looking towards Umibozu as they shared thought and question once again a confirming nod would cross as statements closed.
- "Aye, it is the cause and effect. Be it a force of nature or an action of another."
- An accepted nod crossed as words of thanks crossed. A series of questions presented towards that of the Ent. It is difficult to answer as the role and 'ruling' within the inherent command of the Ent was perhaps interpreted differently from that of another of their Kin. As seen with Atrocity years ago and even at one point of its own history Violence could easily become the answer towards to such feeling. A difficulty to overcome and look towards alternate routes.
- "We can and Will if such reason is presented. We prefer not to use our magics in such means, it is a waste of energy and requires time to recuperate and build anew after each encounter. A step back towards correcting the lands around. Yet at times a necessity for those that hinder progress must be removed."
- For most of their life the Ent stood a beacon of defense a guardian of the lands it attuned only moving in offense when such disturbances were met. A territorial aspect that rests in the rooted Ent. At first such was used in defense of the Shadowmire but after it's collapse a rampage. Lost connections a decision made to 'remove' what took from it, a period hazed in red the wrath of its design. Yet as it adapted and communed with the faint resemblance of life within the Moxtli runes sometime after it found reason to stand tall in defense once again.
- "Corrections can be done in multiple ways. Be it removing the threats or working the very lands around. We proceed with objective to fix the imbalance that brings us forth. As it stands now we and others are working upon these very ruins to bring life anew."
- Towards that of becoming a voice of nature, vastly unknown but one that has been in the works testing just how one might react. A gift granted long ago towards that of Azed, to hear the voices of the lands. To hear the tales the hardships and the enduring they go through. To commune in full with the natures.
- "Nature magics are the first step as it allows you to connect with the environments around. To hear and listen. To adapt. It is difficult to hear the voice of nature but not impossible. As Azed stated."
- (Willowtalon)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:41] Rudi pokes his brother
- (Rudi)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:42] Azed Bolim whispers something.
- [14:42] Azed Bolim says, "..."
- [14:42] Rudi points at the shadowy figure following him
- (Rudi)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:42] Rudi whispers something.
- [14:42] A yawn was given as the night hours were starting to get to the boy. Giving a wave he made his way off to find a place to sleep.
- (Marcellus)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:43] Rudi whispers something.
- [14:45]
- "The world is a rather large place...spirits are everywhere...you just need to have the gift to see'm or hear'm."
- A voice could be heard echoing like a phantom in the distance from behind the group of students. Mist covered the waters just south of the city that had returned to nature. And within that mist -- a silhouette of a massive shark fin, peaking out from atop the water's surface.
- Umibozu quickly turned around and flashed his sharp teeth towards the ominous voice and shadow, "'Yer talkin?! Mus' be'na good mood Aye?!" He called out to it, chuckling to himself.
- "This conversation has stirred me up a bit..and this water is clean...HAHAHAHA" A billowing laugh churned the coast line and waves began to crash against the rocky cliff side before the mist faded, and so too did the shadowy fin.
- The crashing of waves ceased almost instantly and it would be no surprise if people were left wondering.
- (Umibozu)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:50] Zoraia shudders at the thought of the giant tree-creature removing a threat. It's likely that it holds incredible command over the earth itself, let alone its inherent connection to nature (and thus its power over nature magic). In battle, it'd surely be a force to be reckoned with. Woe betide anyone who incurs its wrath.
- In addition to noting down the reply to her own question, she notes down the mention of 'hearing' nature. She'll have to question a Nature mage in the Academy about it... but come to think of it, there are precious few of them around. Indeed, she can't remember the last time that she saw one or even sparred one.
- Are all Nature Magi who go too deeply into that bramble of knowledge doomed to feel rage and wrath, like Willowtalon?
- She stands from her kneeling position and bows to the entity. "Thank you again, Willowtalon. I have no further questions." Well, she had quite a few, but she'd rather pester nature magi with them.
- (Zoraia)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:50] Rudi begins to exude potent amount of air magic as the shadow figure of a feline woman began to imitate the jade green glow of his eyes. With a his still working limb, he opened his good hand as his staff was placed into his palm by the figure behind him. The tail swished to mimic his wind. It was a sight to behold.
- No occult energy leaked from it, it appeared to be shadow magic. Maybe an Item he held on himself? That was up to Rudi to disclose.
- (Rudi)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:50] Lilian whispers to Jude Cirque: Do you have fifty coins on you, Jude?
- [14:52] Azed Bolim says, "..."
- [14:56] Rudi shakes his head
- (Rudi)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:56] "Should you have anymore. We are generally willing to listen." their tones crossed in response to Zoraia offering a nod in acceptance of thanks.
- However!
- A booming voice took attention as a mist rolled over the waters a figure within. The Ent's stance shifting as the earths trembled. It's roots removing forth from the soils as it 'broadened' it's frame in defensive pose. The icy silver optics resting towards the Silhouette fin. The earths creeping up the bark and vine solidifying into a defensive Shell.
- It didn't move towards it, it stood tall and at the ready uncertain as to what was going on.
- (Willowtalon)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:56] Ranym exclaims, "Right!"
- [14:56] Ranym asks, "I guess if there's no more questions we can wrap this up and head back, if you'd all like?"
- [14:57] Zoraia notes the massive ent's sudden shift in nature. She had done her best to ignore the shark-boy's bellowing, but it seems that they've spooked their guest (or host?) a little bit by it (and the massive display of water magic). She moves on behind Ranym, getting perhaps a little uncomfortably close to the nature-being.
- (Zoraia)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [14:58] With a clap of his hands and a brief, puzzled glance to the water, he gestured all the students together so they could return as a group!
- (Ranym)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [15:00] Rudi passes his staff back to the shadowy figure allowing it to mesh back into himself
- (Rudi)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [15:00] Umi stared at the water with his smile intact, before nodding once to turn back towards the group.
- "Oi! Sorry 'bout that Willow. E's m'water spirit. Follows me 'round until mine or his death. Is'a bond o' sorts we've shared since birth. Seem's e' liked the water 'ere. A little too much..."
- (Umibozu)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [15:01] Umibozu says, "Speakin'o listenin to nature got'm worked up. Kinda'nature spirit imself in a way."
- [15:02] Reflexive. The sudden movement of the Ent generated through the magical presence that showed itself, instinct moving towards defense in light of such. However such displays over it moved to relaxed positions once again dropping their heavy 'trunk' to the soils as roots moved within the earths once more.
- (Willowtalon)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [15:02] Willowtalon says, "We see."
- [15:02] Umibozu says, "Ma' used t' say he's a menace. M' like'm though."
- [15:02] Umibozu says, "Seeya'round n what not."
- [15:03] Willowtalon says, "Aye."
