  2. >It was a perfect day at summer's end.
  3. Takkity takkity tak tak
  4. >Lincoln was outside throwing the ball around with Lynn and Clyde.
  5. >Lori sat outside and let Leni tend to her hair.
  6. Takka tak tak takka
  7. >Lisa was over at Darcy's house and Lily was with her parents.
  8. >Lola was at a pageant, Lana played in Mud.
  9. Takka tak tak takkity tak takka tak
  10. >Luan was tasked with following Lucy to her "playdate" with some of her witch friends.
  11. >And Luna sat in her room and programmed in BASIC on a Commodore 64.
  12. >She'd been up for about 28 hours now, only leaving to use the bathroom.
  13. >It had to be done in time for the school year.
  14. >Maybe she'd get extra credit from the computer science class?
  15. Takka takka takka tak
  16. >Tim and Geoff Follin's prog rock-inspired tunes played on repeat in her ears.
  17. >The silver surfer theme burned itself into her mind.
  18. >She had to erase work multiple times when she realized she was just copying that song.
  19. Takka takkity tak tak TAK.
  20. >It was done.
  21. >Luna looked over her work.
  22. >It was crude, poorly optimized, and needed a few fixes here and there.
  23. >But it was good enough for now.
  24. >Luna opened her window and shouted into the street.
  25. >"Oi Lincoln! I got something to show you!"
  26. >It occurred to Luna that she hadn't spoken since yesterday.
  27. >And she needed to wash herself.
  28. >But that didn't matter.
  29. >What did matter was that she was going to have her first audience.
  30. >Lincoln was steady coming up the stairs, with Lynn and Clyde close behind.
  31. >Ever since Luna's depression started, she had spent more and more time in her room.
  32. >Even with him being her manager of fun and happiness, there was only so much she could do.
  33. >Especially since she got into these old british computers.
  34. >Lincoln opened the door to Luna's room, seeing her standing there excited.
  35. >A massive smile was on her face.
  36. >That boded well, at least.
  37. >Lynn wasn't having any of it.
  38. >"Okay, Luna, what's more important than Footbasesoccer?"
  39. >"Lynn, I thought it was Tennissoccerbase?"
  40. >"Shut up, Clyde."
  41. >"So, uh, I put this together for you, Lincoln. I, uh, yeah..."
  42. >Luna typed a command into the computer.
  43. >"Ah, dammit, wrong filename. Okay, hold on..."
  44. >Finally the computer rattled a bit and started the video.
  45. >A city skyline at night was shown, with heroic music soaring over the visuals.
  46. >A lone shadowed figure perched on top of the tallest tower, strong in stature.
  47. >A slow, confident theme played as the figure was shown.
  48. >It was Ace Savvy, but with the face of Lincoln.
  49. >And a few other nicks and nacks added on to be legally distinct, of course.
  50. >The art was impressively on-model, and reflected Lincoln as both boyish and manly.
  51. >But ultimately, it showed him as a Hero.
  52. >The video was short and lasted only a minute.
  53. >But it got its point across.
  54. >Clyde was awestruck.
  55. >Lynn peaced out halfway through.
  56. >Too mushy and lovey-dovey.
  57. >Luna turned to Lincoln.
  58. >"I, uh, made this for you, because I love you and you're nice and you've been so understanding-"
  59. >Luna began to tear uo and cry.
  60. >Lincoln only hugged her and cried too.
  61. >"I love you, bro!"
  62. >"I love you too, Luna!"
  63. >This was all a bit much for Clyde, who peaced out midway and left the two alone.
  64. >The siblings hugged it out for what seemed like hours, simply happy that the other was there.
