  9.
  10. The UX-12 "Pterois" is an experimental heavy Omniframe - a machine designed to operate in all environments, from space to oceans, and extreme heat and cold. Originally built from the concept of a submarine-hunter, the now-unarmed machine is agile, durable, and capable of carrying heavy equipment in the water.

  27. Each UX-12 is operated by 1-2 crew. The pilot controls the submersible in the transparent sphere at the front, and a device operator sits in a separate hull sphere behind. It is powered by a pair of side-mounted ducted engines, and one engine in each leg.
  28.
  29. The project started as a naval target destroyer. However, it did not meet the desired survivability targets, and was quickly converted into a civilian project. The UX-12 was produced and marketed as a medium-depth research and recovery vessel. Later, a space exploration modification variant was built, with completely redesigned engine pods and legs, and took the name UX-12S. The base aquatic variant was renamed to UX-12Aq for clarity.
  30.
  31. The UX-12Aq was deemed too expensive and complex for a research vessel, and both private and government-based institutions did not show any interest in the machine. UX-12Aq units are only operated by ASTIND CORPORATION and some of its allies.
