  1. Third video is about an impossible standard of evidence. First by casting aspersions on all social science data, which we need to measure these phenotype as they exist in the real world for one, and then demanding a molecular and physiological standard of proof for genetic causation which is not needed to infer genetic influence in of itself. Basically only what he considers biological data counts, which is of course only molecular biology divining each specific genes and it's additive effect when non-molecular methods are currently way better at inferring genetic influence on the aggregate level so are still used. Moreover, any in investigating biological factors is a temporary biologist, data is data
  2.
  3. Ultimate he seems to think biologists can just crack open a genome and identify the components of tne genotype and resulting phenotype no problem. Because he casts aside any non-molecular methods of finding genetic explanations out, when molecular genetics isn't at star trek or gattaca levels obviously
  4.
  5. And if you still want to demand molecular evidence, then produce the evidence for cognitive equality on a molecular level. Otherwise you are saying the absence of contrary evidence proves your position. Which is the appeal to ignorance. Our model is incomplete on the molecular front, your model doesnt exist outside the gaps in our model like epigenetics and molecular genetics.

  9. SNP = rs1752212 (negative correlation with intelligence)
  10. Gene = AKAP6 (SNP is in the promoter region I believe)
  11. Mice = induce double knock out mutation (basically just remove the gene) causes mice to be retarded.
  12.
  13. SNP Frequency by race
  14. White = 51.1%
  15. Black = 69.6%
  16.
  17. So, the knockout mice prove the gene is involved in cognition, the correlation shows the SNP in the promoter region for the gene varies by race, the SNP is negatively correlated with intelligence and is more common in blacks than whites.
  18. The SNP has a negative correlation, the gene is a separate thing from the SNP. The SNP is in the promoter region (DNA right before the coding section which is the gene), so it affects how the gene is expressed. The gene itself impacts cognition. If you have the abnormal SNP, it affects the expression of the gene negatively. If you remove the gene entirely (double knock out mice), it affects the expression extremely negatively (it's not expressed at all). Does that make sense?
