- Procedure
- In order to prove the equation and answer the research question my group decided to create an apparatus like the one above and record the times when the ball was moving at constant speed. We created the apparatus by taking a piece of string, threading it through a plastic tube and attaching one side of it to a ball and the other to a weight. We kept the weight of the ball and the weight of the mass constant while changing the radius of the rope to various lengths. In order to measure the radius easier we put a piece of tape at the bottom of the plastic tube so that it would be easier to see when it is at constant velocity. We had one person spinning the ball, another recording the time and two people counting the number of rotations. We kept the number of rotations at a constant predetermine number and recorded the data. Finally, we reviewed our data to make sure that it corresponded with the others in the group and proceeded to prove the formula.
