Shadowfriday Gerard Backstory

Gerard Hendriks has had a very eventful life despite his young age. Growing up in the city of Baltimore, all he really had was his family; his parents, and big brother Johan. Gerard idolized Johan growing up, and so when Johan turned 18 and said he was joining the army, Gerard knew he was going to do the same. Five years would pass, filled with letters from Johan of the exotic sights he was seeing and how great it was to serve the UCAS, and this only further encouraged Gerard. Finally, the day after his 18th birthday, Gerard joined a PMC, the Blue Talons (a subsidiary of MET2000).

Life in the Blue Talons wasn't easy, but the pay was pretty good (once they finished garnishing wages to pay for equipment), and for the first 2 year term the work was fairly easy. Unfortunately, a week into his second term Gerard and his unit were shipped to Bogota. After 23 months in that hellhole, struggling to survive and seeing comrades die to the jungle, blood spirits, cartels, Aztlanders, and disease, Gerard deserted, got on a plane bound for LA, and left that life behind. The Blue Talons weren't exactly happy with his desertion, but given that he was only a few more weeks away from being able to just not renew his contract, they simply blacklisted him in the greater PMC community and didn't send him his last check, and called it mostly even.

Arriving in LA with his guns, armor, and not much else, he slept on the streets for a few nights until a fateful meeting with his brother, Johan. Johan, it turns out, had been kicked out of basic, and faked letters back home to not disappoint his family, especially his younger brother. Despite a heated first meeting where all of this came to light, Johan offered Gerard his couch until he could get his feet back under him, and Gerard hesitatingly accepted. Gerard would discover soon that Johan hadn't adapted well to LA, developing some sizable debts and a gambling problem while he was at it. Still, being acquainted with the underworld can reap benefits, as Gerard will soon find...

APPEARANCE: Gerard is 6'0", has short brown hair, and no facial hair (save some stubble, most of the time). He has a prominent knife scar running from his collarbone to just below his jaw, earned in bogota. He has blue eyes. He is often seen smoking cigarettes, except on missions.
