12. How does Civil Protection work in HL2? How does it work on the server?: In Half-Life 2 RP, the units work in a very similar way as to how they do on the server. They are given orders by the dispatch and they follow it at any cost due to the fact that they're lives would be at risk if they were to refuse or follow the orders poorly, all of the units in the Hl2 universe look the same as each other and act very thuggish in nature and often abuse citizens both verbally and physically. On the server, units are very similar to how they are in HL2, the only difference being that they act more human and are also given a tagline which they can be identified by such as XRAY-6. The units in the server also feel sympathetic at times due to the fact that they are still human and can still feel emotions unlike the units shown in Half-Life 2, making them more human and easier to roleplay with.
13.
14. What purpose does Civil Protection serve in a governmental manner? How are these purposes fulfilled in Half-Life 2? In the server?: In Half-Life 2, the civil protection serve as a policing force for the Union, just as they do on the server. However on HL2, the Civil Protection are a lot more abusive to the citizenry both verbally and physically as they often push them about and insult them. On the server, the Civil Protection serve the same role as they do on Half-Life 2, they are a policing force set up by the Union in order to enforce the policies and laws set up by the administration and the UU. They are a lot more human than they are in Half-Life 2, and are given directives by Dispatch just as they are in Half-Life 2. They're main job is to enforce the rules of the UU, not protect the citizenry of the city. However unlike Half-Life 2, the Civil Protection presence is not as strong as it is on the game in order to make it easier to roleplay in and develop a character, however they still respond to anti-civil problems such as fights and shootings.
15.
16. What is your OOC motivation for joining Civil Protection?: My main OOC motivation for joining the Civil Protection is because back in late 2013/2014, I was a part of the Civil Protection. I managed to get up to the rank of i2 back when Audendante lead it, however shortly after achieving the rank of i2 there was a reformation, and many people lost their Civil Protection characters and whitelist, and I was one of them. I have not bothered applying for Civil Protection until now, as I have found roleplaying on my rebel has gotten rather boring seeing as it's the usual path that I take whenever I decide to make a new character. I enjoy playing on the server very much, and I would love to be able to experience playing as a unit once again.
17.
18. What kind of roleplay do you expect to find in the Civil Protection and/or be willing to perform in the CP?: The sort of roleplay that I expect to experience as a Civil Protection unit is very unique. It would be similar to how policing works in real life, but a lot more darker and twisted. The sort of roleplay that I'd expect to find would be similar to police work, which is enforcing the rules and laws of the Universal Union as well as patrolling with other units and getting to know them on both an IC and OOC basis. I expect to do many things within the Civil Protection such as patrolling, doing sweeps and talking with other units to develop my character. The sort of RP that will accompany my character will be mostly passive RP which involves patrols and other smaller tasks as well as action roleplay such as sweeps and firefights with anti-citizens and autonomous units.
19.
20. Explain what you think/know a robocop is, and why it is good/bad and how you will react to this phenomenon: A robocop is a unit who does not show any emotion, and often takes pleasure in seeing people die. He does not attempt to develop a character nor show any human emotions such as sympathy or remorse for anyone who he kills/hurts. This is unhealthy, as although this is somewhat shown in Half-Life 2, it does not make sense within the server, as in the server lore, units are not augmented like they are (assumingly) within half-life 2 to make them into robocops. Being a robocop is frowned upon as it does not promote any sort of passive roleplay, and makes it very difficult to roleplay with units as they act like robots rather than what they are; which are humans in a suit. Being a robocop does not work in roleplay, as in roleplay it is about developing a character which you create, not about acting like a robot and refusing to roleplay anything humanly.
21.
22. Why should you be entrusted with a whitelist as important as this?: I have had a great deal of experience as a unit on many servers including Lemonpunch. I have had a rather high ranking unit on Lemonpunch as well, showing that I have a lot of experience in being a unit. I know the general archetype of a unit within the Civil Protection here at Lemonpunch as I have played as one before and I have enjoyed doing so. Although I have had a history of bans, I have not ever had a history of doing things such as hacking, abusing whitelists or item-transferring, as these things give an unfair advantage in roleplay, and are against the rules.
23.
24. How does the Universal Union work in a governmental manner in HL2?: In Half-Life 2, the Universal Union is a name for the combine. Their main goal is to travel to different planets such as earth and take the planet's natural resources and trans-humanize the race that lives on earth, which is humans. The Universal Union serve in a governmental manner by establishing cities across the planet, which are similar to police-states with regular patrols from Civil Protection teams, all of which are closely watched by Dispatch. The UU employ humans known as Administrators who work closely with the various loyalist groups of the city as well as the citizens to give them news and announcements. The Administrators are like the speakers for the Universal Union, as the UU tell them what to do and say.
25.
26. How does the Dispatch Overvoice work via CP-based communication?: Dispatch sends commands via the radio within the units helmet/HUD to give them orders/directives that they are enforced and tasked to complete/carry out. It uses terminology so that if citizens hear it, it is harder for them to understand and makes the work of the civil protection a lot more secreted.
27.
28. What is the reasoning behind the prosecution of citizens behind closed doors?: The general idea of proescuting citizens behind closed doors or in secreted places is to prevent other citizens from witnessing the beating of a citizen in public, and more importantly exposing officers whilst they give civil judgement to a citizen. The other reasoning as to why they prosecute citizens behind closed doors is to prevent other citizens from seeing a fellow citizen be prosecuted, as this may anger the citizen who is watching them do this, and could change their views on the Civil Protection, or even worse start a 404, also known as a riot.
29.
30. As above, describe the reasoning behind witness sterilization.: The reasoning behind witness sterilization is so that the citizenry do not get any disclosed information about a unit (such as their name/tag-line). It is also to prevent citizens from telling people information about units and what they do so that it is less likely that they would target them/tell other citizens disclosed information, and to furthermore protect the doings of the Civil Protection/UU.
31.
32. [SITUATIONS]
33. A CP in your assigned protection-team has been libelled as 'autonomous' by Dispatch, and you've been ordered to carry out the revocation of his civil status. What do you do?: I would take out my gun/stun-stick and update my 10-20 over the radio. I would then search the area for the autonomous unit, and upon finding him, I would update his 10-20 over radio and then call for assistance. I would then shoot at the unit, attempting to neutralize him. If I am successful, then I will radio in that the autonomous unit has been amputated and that his citizenship is revoked. If I am not successful, I would try and hold him for as long as possible until backup arrives.
34.
35. Someone requests that there is an armed individual located in areas of high anticivil activity. Do you ask Dispatch permission to respond? If yes, how?: If I was to be intention level 5 (00), I would not ask for permission as I would not be armed, and I would be more beneficial patrolling. However if I was intention level 4 (25), I would ask dispatch if I could respond (10-17) and then head to the reported 10-20 of the 647E after attaching/creating a PT (patrol-team). Upon arrival of the reported 10-20, I would report 10-23 into the radio before searching for the anti-citizen. Upon finding the anti-citizen, the PT and I would attempt to neutralize the anti-citizen, if succsesful I would report in that the 647E has been amputated and then get rid of the body and ask Dispatch for directives.
36.
37. You're conversing with a citizen when Dispatch says; 'YOURTAGLINE-9, cease 19 with 10-91d, avoid 99.' What do you do?: I say 10-4 in the radio and then tell him to move along. I would then avoid any contact with any other 10-91d's other than telling them to move along, vacate or isolate.
38.
39. Awaiting your designation to a given patrol-team by Dispatch, a blueshirted citizen decidedly approaches you and says, 'Hello officer, how do you do?' How do you respond to this?: I would ignore the citizen before telling him to move along, in an attempt to stop any on-going conversation between me and the citizen. If he refuses and continues to talk to me, I would attempt to avoid the 10-91d, however if he continued to try and make conversation with me, then I'd punish him by re-educating him for minor malcompliance.
40.
41. Having been assigned to remain at a city-based checkpoint with a few other armed units (likewise yourself), one individual armed with an MP7 and a typical rebel uniform opens fire on your position. What do you do to try to apprehend him?: I would take cover and then report that a 647E who is 10-32 has commited a 245 on an active CP team at my 10-20 (I'd state my location). I would stay up on the checkpoint and raise my weapon, I would use any available cover whilst attempting to shoot at the 647E in an attempt to amputate him.
42.
43. On your first day as a CP, a lone citizen runs up to you with a weapon in his hand - a stunstick that he had taken from another unit. He'd attempt to hit you; how do you respond to this?: I would report my 10-20 and then say, 243 committed by 10-32 and say 11-99 so that other officers know where I am and that I am in danger. I would then raise my stun-stick and flick it and attempt to regroup with another PT/flee into cover. I would then report over radio BOL (his/her description here) and resume my directives. However if I was to fail in fleeing and become engaged in combat with him, I would attempt to hold him off for as long as possible until backup arrived.
44.
45. After having been called to a given location by Dispatch, you come across a single blueshirted individual who's been chosen for a random re-education. As you try to apprehend him, the man resists your attempts to tie and restrain him by turning around in an attempt to punch you in the face.
46. What's your reaction?: The gas-mask would probably hurt his hand, however I'd most likely stumble back. Upon falling backwards, I would re-posture myself and attempt to restrain him and push him against the wall, whilst also calling for 10-78 along with my current 10-20 and also report that I am being attacked by a 647D. Assuming I was to restrain him, I would wait for assistance and then report that I have restrained the 647D and that his current status is 11-6 and report that I am 10-19. Upon arriving at 10-19 I would report in saying I am 10-23 and then amputate the 647D.
47.
48. [MISCELLANEOUS]
49. Have you read all Civil Protection related guidelines available to you on the forums? Will you read them on a constant basis, so as to ensure that you're doing the best you can if whitelisted?: Yes.
50.
51. How long have you been roleplaying? Sum up your experience. I have been roleplaying for like 8 years I first started on World of Warcraft when I was 8 and then I moved onto GMOD and I played on Mobius when I was like 10, then I went back to World of Warcraft and then onto Jedi Academy RP, all of which was serious roleplay. Shortly after I returned to GMOD where I was on and off on different servers. Most of my RP experience comes from both World of Warcraft and Garry's Mod.
52.
53. Have you had any experience roleplaying as a CP? If so, sum up such experience(s): I first started my CP experience on a roleplaying server called Genesis, which was up in around 2011, at the time I was only 11, so I only managed to get up to 05 as I wasn't very active and only patrolled. Shortly after it shut down, I was CP on many other servers such as Relentless and Catalyst. I then joined Lemonpunch and in late 2013/early 2014 I applied for a unit and I was accepted. I managed to get up to i2 before there was a huge reformation and I and 75% of people with the whitelist lost their Civil Protection whitelist and characters.
