Usagi, a normal teenage girl, finds out she's Sailor Moon and gets into all sorts of trouble at the beginning trying to fight for love and justice. She then gets better and with her friends Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus they fight against the evils of The Dark Kingdom, The Hell Tree, and The Black Moon.
The story centers around an air-headed crybaby, named Usagi, and her friends Ami, Rei, Makato, and Minako. Using special powers, they can transform into Sailor Solders. They become Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus respectfully. They fight for love and justice against the evil minions of The Dark Kingdom. To help them in their quest, they heed the advice of two talking cats, Luna and Artemis, and also the mysterious Tuxedo Mask.
Seeing as how in the US Sailor Moon was released and aimed toward children obviously because it is a cartoon, cutting such things as nudity, violence, and homosexual relations is not a bad thing. The "Saylor Says" at the end of each episode is not something anyone is forced to watch but when it comes to small children it allows them to take a somewhat moral lesson from the half an hour of TV they just viewed condensed into a few seconds. Perhaps to some this is corny but as I've seen with my little sister... if she is going to have a role model like sailor moon why not learn something from her at the same time instead of just sex and violence which is already available on television. Secondly, the original music is not very mood-oriented and takes away much of the intensity that DIC brought to its versions of the Sailor Moon episodes. I remember watching episodes while I was in elementary school and getting so wrapped up in the episodes because of the featured music, in fact, I ONLY TAPED episodes that included a DIC version song. Not to mention, the theme song shows each scout as they sing their name, allowing new viewers to identify them right away.
I really liked the first season of Sailor Moon. It introduces all of the characters to the show really well. <br/><br/>Sailor Moon is the air-head &quot;dumb blonde&quot; and leader of the team. Sailor Mercury is the nerd. Sailor Mars has a fiery hot temper. Sailor Jupiter is the tomboy. Sailor Venus is a glam girl.<br/><br/>There are 40 episodes of Season 1 and there&#39;s enough substance to the characters and the villains (Queen Serenity) that it keeps the show engaging without getting too repetitive or boring.<br/><br/>For an example, Sailor Mars poking fun at Serena AKA Sailor Moon for eating too much and calling her &quot;meatball head&quot; is pretty cheesy but, cute and funny to watch.<br/><br/>However at the start of Season 2, everything changed. The voice acting was different (it got worse) and the dubbing got worse with lazy, poorly written plots and while other characters like Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus were introduced here, they weren&#39;t as fleshed out as they could of been and the whole show just got boring, here on out for me.<br/><br/>I don&#39;t even know what had happened in the show soon after Season 2 but, whatever.<br/><br/>A decent show (girls will love it) but, it isn&#39;t for everyone.
