  1. Guide for Cemu on the Steam Deck:
  2. 1). Boot into Steam Desktop Mode by pressing the Steam button->Power->Start Desktop Mode.
  3. 2). Download Cemu from https://cemu.info and extract the files somewhere. Should have a folder called cemu_x.xx.x somewhere now. I recommend not having any spaces in this path because otherwise you need to manually fix the Target value in the game's Steam entry later by text from Launch Options to be inside the quotes of the Target.
  4. 3). Make a folder called "Games" inside the cemu_x.xx.x folder (important, otherwise you have to mess with the `STEAM_COMPAT_MOUNTS` launch option) and put all your base game folders into that.
  5. 4). Also make a folder called "Temp" inside the cemu_x.xx.x folder and put all the update and DLC folders into it.
  6. 5). Open Steam inside the desktop mode and go to your library. Click on the `[+] Add A Game` button and select the Add a Non-Steam Game Option.
  7. 6). Click on the browse button. First you wanna click on the navigation/url dropdown and select the "/" option. You also need to change the file type at the bottom to All Files.
  8. 7a). If you've put the files on your SD card, you will need to go to /run/media/mmcblk0p1/ and then find the cemu_x.xx.x folder in which you wanna select the Cemu.exe file and open it to continue.
  9. 7b). If you've put the files on your system storage, you will need to go to /home/deck/ and find the cemu_x.xx.x folder in e.g. the Desktop folder. Inside that folder you should select the Cemu.exe file and open it to continue.
  10. 8). Click on Add Selected Programs. Search it in your game list and then go to it's properties. You should change the name and add an icon if you want.
  11. 9). Go to the Compatibility tab on the left and enable the Force Steam Play option, after which select Proton Experimental (you can try something else, but I didn't get it to launch in Gaming mode otherwise).
  12. 10). Close it and you should be able to launch it. We want to tweak all the settings before changing to the Gaming mode because it's very difficult to do it there since you can't close the setting windows if you open them, from what I've found.
  13. 11). Go through the Getting Started wizard. Don't change the MLC path (it'll use the mlc01 folder inside the cemu_x.xx.x folder by default), but do change the Game path. After it opens the file explorer
  14. 12a). If you've put the files on your SD card, you will need to go to My Computer->E:/ and then find your cemu_x.xx.x folder. You wanna select and open the Games folder you made earlier inside of it.
  15. 12b). If you've put the files on your system storage, you will need to go to My Computer->Z:/->home->deck and find your cemu_x.xx.x folder in e.g. the Desktop folder. You wanna select and open the Games folder you made earlier inside of it.
  16. 13). Now that we can continue the getting started guide, download the community graphic packs and press no when it asks you to view them (optimizing comes later).
  17. 14). On the next page it'll ask you to setup your input settings. Change the Emulated controller to Gamepad. Then you want to add a controller using the + button. You want to select the SDLController as API, and then select the first controller. It should autofill all the right settings, so you can close this window and finish the Getting Started wizard too.
  18. 15). Now you have to install the updates and dlc from the Temp folder. Use the File->Install game title, update or DLC option and use step 12 to find the Temp folder this time. For each update or DLC folder, you have to go into it's meta folder and open the meta.xml file inside of it. Repeat this for all the folders inside Temp until everything's installed.
  19. 16). You should be able to launch the games now but I would recommend following the guide at https://cemu.cfw.guide/optimizing-cemu.html (and additionally https://cemu.cfw.guide/optimizing-botw.html for BotW) to optimize some of the settings.
  20. 17). You can return to the gaming mode, where you can find it under Non-Steam games in the library section. You should change the controller layout too before you launch it. I currently use a customized version of the Gamepad with Gyro template from Valve, but I wanna refine it a little further before I share it.
