  1. >With a bit of effort, you push open some rather heavy metal doors
  2. >The tubes in your arms constantly bump into anything less than half a foot away from you
  3. >Rather than use the Handicap button for the automatic door, you prefer to pretend that you don’t need machine assistance when outside of the house
  4. >Ironic that a machine is what’s keeping you alive
  5. >You walk through a short hallway, before seeing a girl standing there, probably the one they said would be waiting for you
  6. >She wears a leather jacket, a skirt, with red and orange colored stripes as her hair color and style
  7. >She notices you, and first seems to see the large machine on your back before seeing you
  8. >”Hello, you must be the new kid that they said would be here.”
  9. >She shakes your hand
  10. >”My name’s Sunset Shimmer, what’s yours?”
  11. “Anonymous, you can call me Anon if you want.”
  12. >Sunset nods, and steps back
  13. >”So, I couldn’t help but notice that thing on your back, if it’s not too personal, what is that?”
  14. >Can’t blame her, you really do stick out in crowds, and she probably hasn’t seen anything like it
  15. “Oh, well, I guess you can call it a life-preserver, since my organs don’t work too well, and my blood is pretty messed up, I kind of need it.”
  16. >She furrows her brow as she slowly walks, probably meaning to start the tour of the school
  17. >”Really? What’s up with your insides?”
  18. >Lots of things, really
  19. “Oh, where to begin, my stomach bleeds, my heart doesn’t work too well, liver’s not in great condition, neither are my kidneys, lungs also tend to bleed, and my blood tends to fluctuate wildly between thickness and thinness. It's really not fun."
  20. >You left out a few other difficulties, but it’s not imperative that you tell her everything about your health
  21. >Really, it’s a miracle that you’re even alive, most of your vital organs can’t do their job, or barely work
  22. >She continues the slow walk, tilting her head
  23.
  24. >”Wow, they weren’t kidding when they said you have a condition. Where and how did you get that thing on your back?”
  25. “Well, luckily my family is rather rich, so they were able to fund the creation of this life-preserver, it was finished when I was 10, before then, all I did was sit in a hospital bed.”
  26. >”That’s pretty incredible, how were you taught?”
  27. ”I had some good tutors and professionals, pretty well educated now, actually.”
  28. >”So, you haven’t gone to any schools before now?”
  29. “Nope.”
  30. >She seems surprised
  31. >A bell suddenly rings
  32. >”Oh, it’s lunch time, well, I can actually show you around later, how about you sit with me and my friends at lunch?”
  33. “Sure.”
  34. >You and Sunset pass a few other kids on the way to lunch
  35. >And the idea of sitting down sounds nice, even though you’re supposedly in good shape, your insides sure aren’t
  36. >Legs still get tired, and it’s not necessarily easy to walk with constant, sharp pain in your torso
  37. >Sunset turns back to you
  38. >”By the way, is there any “cure” or something for your condition?”
  39. “Well, technically no, but synthetic artificial organs are being built right now, ones that can grow with me, be powered by the body, but other than that, no.”
  40. >”So, surgery is the only way to help you, too bad.”
  41. >She opens some double doors to what appears to be a lunch room, and holds a door open for you
  42. >”I can take you on over to the food bar, they have all kinds of food here, like-”
  43. “I can’t really eat normal food, sorry. Gotta get it through an IV.”
  44. >”Or I can just take you to my table and get some lunch for myself.”
  45. >Sunset leads you through a few small crowds of people, to a table on the other side of the room
  46. >A few girls already sit there, one of them with Pink hair, another with Blonde hair and a cowboy hat, and another with Purple hair
  47. >"Go say hi, I'll be right over."
  48. >She gives you a light push, and walks away
  49. >Well, here goes nothing
  50.
  51. >You walk up to the table
  52. "Hey there, do you mind if I sit here?"
  53. >The one with the pink hair quickly answers you
  54. >"Yeah, sure! What's your name? My name's Pinkie Pie!"
  55. >You sit on the bench opposite to her, and next to the girl with purple hair
  56. >She turns and gives a light smile
  57. >"Hello, I'm Rarity."
  58. >The girl with the cowboy hat is giving you a confused expression
  59. >"What's that thing on your back? And why do ya got tubes in your arms? And why do you look so hungry?"
  60. >Well, hello to you too, lady
  61. "Uh, hi, long story short, the thing on my back is a sort of life-preserver, and my blood is pretty messed up, so are most of my organs, so this thing replaces them."
  62. >"Huh, that's interesting, I'm Applejack, you can call me AJ if you want."
  63. "Oh, and why do I look so hungry? Because I see a lot of good looking food around me, and I can't eat any of it without a trip to the hospital."
  64. >Pinkie Pie leans over the table
  65. >"What?! Why not?"
  66. "Well, my stomach would just start bleeding, and I don't need acids in my blood, or any more internal bleeding. Actually, most of my blood is in this machine, so it can't bleed out too much inside of me."
  67. >Rarity nudges you lsightly
  68. >"Please, not while I'm trying to eat"
  69. >Well, she's pretty insensitive
  70. >It takes her a moment to catch herself
  71. >"Oh! I'm terribly sorry, I didn't mean to be so apathetic."
  72. "It's fine, I don't really feel anything anymore, even my emotions are a bit dull... I'm always just so damn cold."
  73. >You sure do feel cold, without that much blood running through your body, and you mostly get energy from the highly oxygenated blood that gets recycled
  74. >Everyone looks sadly at you
  75. >You made it awkward, didn't you?
  76. "Sorry, not trying to depress any of you, I can still technically get some food, from a few IV's here and there..."
  77. >Sunset suddenly sits down next to you, with another two girls that sit at the table
  78. >"So, how are you getting along?"
  79.
  80. >Sunset sits next to you
  81. "I think we're getting along fine."
  82. >Rarity and Applejack give some slight shrugs while Pinkie nods
  83. >"I think we're gonna get along great!"
  84. >One of the other girls who walked over with Sunset looks over to Pinkie
  85. >"That's what you think about everyone, Pinkie."
  86. >"I know, but he's really interesting! Just look at that thing on his back! And look how healthy he looks on the outside!"
  87. >It's true, having carried this thing around for a few years, it really helped your body and your muscles
  88. >Although you lost most concept of beauty, since you've convinced yourself that there is no point in caring about or keeping up your appearances
  89. >Sunset points to the girl with the rainbow hair then to the girl with the lighter pink hair
  90. >"That's Rainbow Dash, and that's Fluttershy."
  91. >You wave to them
  92. >Rainbow Dash puts her elbow on the table
  93. >"So, Pinkie says that you're really interesting?"
  94. >You shrug
  95. "I guess you could say that."
  96. >You take a deep breath
  97. "Most of my organs don't work too well, including my stomach, lungs, one of my kidneys, my liver, and my heart."
  98. >You take another breather
  99. >Sunset leans over
  100. >"You look like you're out of breath, are you okay?"
  101. >You nod
  102. "That's just because my blood isn't very oxygen rich, and my lungs don't feel that great, and it doesn't feel all that filling when I inhale."
  103. >Another breather
  104. >Applejack looks over to you
  105. >"You can slow down, you're lookin' pretty white in the face."
  106. "Oh, am I?"
  107. >You reach back and press the Oxygenate button
  108. >Another tank ought to kick in
  109. "That should help, the reason why breathing doesn't help so much is because most of my blood is in this machine, so naturally I'm always going to be tired and short of breath."
  110.
  111. >You look around at everyone at the table
  112. >Sunset looks over to you
  113. >"You didn't seem that tired when you were walking around."
  114. >You shrug a bit
  115. "That's because the pump in the machine is a bit crude. It pumps harder when I'm moving around, and less when I'm resting."
  116. >Not to mention that your insides hurt more when you're resting since the flow of blood and medicine slows
  117. >Throbbing head aches, inner sores, stinging and sharp pain, you can usually tell what's going on inside based on the type of pain you're feeling
  118. >Your damn body's a mess
  119. >The more you think about it, the more tired you get
  120. >It's annoying how the table is remaining silent aside from you talking or one of them talking to you
  121. >You need to switch the topic of conversation
  122. >Perhaps you can ask some of them about themselves?
  123. >Rainbow Dash leans across the table
  124. >"Say Anon, how well do you think you'd be off if you didn't have that thing? Or that condition?"
  125. >Never mind...
  126. "Probably, I'd have more energy and would be happier... the good news is that in a few months, I'm going to get artificial, synthetic organs put into my body."
  127. >You take another breath
  128. "That will fix most of the issues, and I'll get lots of blood recycling and cleaning. So it won't be long until I can be like all of you."
  129. >You smile the most hollow smile ever
  130. >That's half of the news, anyway
  131. >Aside from having a life expectancy of only a few days to a month
  132. >With that organ transplant being scheduled two months from now
  133. >Fluttershy quietly whispers out
  134. >"Why is the appointment two months away?"
  135. >You strain to hear her, but make out her words
  136. "It takes a while to make these organs. I've had normal organ transplants a while ago... those organs would also just deteriorate."
  137. >The organs in question still need to finish construction
  138. >You're not gonna let yourself die before you can experience life like a normal person
  139. >Let yourself actually feel again
