Former admiral in the Navy, Lilian's father exudes tight-lipped loyalty to the Alliance and a strict adherence to social norms. Disappointed by his eldest's decision to run away from her responsibilities, Cyril has focused on his career, until recently when he finally took his retirement and has begun a new hobby that he will speak to anyone who will listen about: remixing orchestral versions of naval fight or march songs.

Dedicating her life to the expansion of the Alliance, Julianne worked tirelessly for the IPA Colony and Settlement Authority, working to aid any needy colonists as they bring the message of the Alliance to the outer reaches of the system. After Lilian left the Alliance and the Cartwrights behind, Julianne cut her out of her life entirely, removing photos and keepsakes that reminded her of her rebellious daughter. Instead, Julianne is a devoted grandmother to her good son's family, and knits now, apparently.
