  1. I woke up to the sound of wind blowing outside. I opened my eyes and looked over the giant pile of snake scales to see the sun beaming down through the skylight and the fireplace still cackling, but considerably smaller.
  2.
  3. “Ahh!” I heard a low feminine voice yelp out from behind me. Turning around, I saw a green Wyvern standing in front of a window. An open window. “That feels nice!”
  4.
  5. “Hey hey hey!” I yelled out to her, thinking about Asyllisus still holding me. “Some people are trying to be warm here!”
  6.
  7. “Ugh. Fine, Prince Charming, I’ll deal with your princess.” She said closing the window. “Just wanted to feel a breeze.” She walked into the kitchen where a small batch of people were having breakfast. No idea what they could’ve been eating without heat.
  8.
  9. Asyllisus yawned from below me. “Oh hey there. How’s my big blankie?” She whispered in a flirty tone. I guess she had grown a liking to me, can say I felt the same way.
  10.
  11. “I’m doing good. How’s the fire?” She rubbed my arm a bit.
  12.
  13. “I’m still a bit chilly, but I’m doing fine.” I smiled at her.
  14.
  15. “You hungry? I’m gonna grab something myself.” She nodded as I stood up, not before grabbing my cheek and planting a firm kiss.
  16.
  17. “Get me whatever.”
  18.
  19. I found out the people having breakfast still had their eggs, bacon, sausage, and other warm food thanks to a small fire started by a hellhound cook.
  20.
  21. “What do ya want?” A man asked. I could tell he was a bit pissed off, maybe not his normal schedule.
  22.
  23. “Just an English Breakfast and two waters.” The man nodded and yelled into the kitchen.
  24.
  25. “Need an EB and some waters! Come back in like 10 minutes.” I thanked him and walked back to Asyllisus.
  26.
  27. “Breakfast is on its way. I’m gonna grab something from my room.” She nodded.
  28.
  29. ********************
  30.
  31. The room was just how we had left it the night before, the only thing out of place being the scrawny man and giant yeti in the king sized bed.
  32.
  33. “Hey Isaac! Where were you last night?” Travis asked. I could tell he sounded a bit weak.
  34.
  35. “I chose to be with someone through the night. How about you guys?” Burtina scoffed at me
  36.
  37. “Sure, I’ll believe it when I see her.” She looked over at Travis and snuggled his shoulder like she does a lot. “I’m sure you what we did! Nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more!”
  38.
  39. Did she say that last bit out loud? Anyway...
  40.
  41. “Well I came up to grab my backpack. Breakfast is being served downstairs.”
  42.
  43. “Oh, I’ll go get some for us!” Burtina said to Travis. “You should stay in bed, I know you want to after what happened last night.” She kissed him before rushing out into the hall.
  44.
  45. “So... how crazy was last night?”
  46.
  47. “Oh man, you wouldn’t believe it! After we calmed down, we decided to-“
  48.
  49. “Ok, TMI!”
  50.
  51. “Yeah. So, how was your night?” I sat down onto the bed.
  52.
  53. “Well, that lamia that ran out of the kitchen last night? Cold as hell. She wanted some blankets, I got some for her. Next thing you know, she wrapped herself around me and fell asleep.”
  54.
  55. “Nice man!” Travis said giving me a fist bump. “With us, it was the other way around.”
  56.
  57. “I know, I know. I’m gonna head back out, see ya.” I said to him as I walked out.
  58.
  59. ********************
  60.
  61. I split the breakfast with Asyllisus, it wasn’t as good as it was previous days, but it was made using fire, not a stove.
  62.
  63. “Well well, how did you know what I like?” I shrugged at her question.
  64.
  65. “Lucky guess, I guess.” Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a worker ant leave the employees only door from last night, then the manager came. He listened to the few words she had to say, and put his head in his hands.
  66.
  67. “Hey, everyone!” He yelled out. “Everyone, he have some bad news!” Most of the people in the lobby stared at him waiting to continue. “We have some bad news and worse news. The bad news is, there was a leak due to the excess snow. Water dropped on the mainframes and generators. Electricity is completely gone. Worse news, snow is coming down even heavier now, staff tried to get outside, and we can’t even open any doors.”
  68.
  69. I had never heard so many people yell out in agony and stress. Understandably so.
  70.
  71. “Well. That sucks.” Asyllisus said before grabbing my shirt. “At least I have someone to keep me company...”
