BACKGROUND :
    ¤ minjae was born in seoul, south korea, to a set of parents who's relationship had been going through a bit of strain. they already had one son, who was two years older than minjae, and they had originally hopes that the arrival of minjae would help with their relationship. however, this didn't quite work out as planned,and by the time minjae was eight, the fights had gotten almost unbearable. growing up, minjae was particularly close with her brother, and he was her rock. he would always try to make her feel better when she felt like crying because their parents were fighting again. when she turned nine, her parents finally got a divorce, splitting custody over minjae and her older brother minhyuk. minhyuk and their mother stayed in seoul, while minjae was taken away to busan with her father. minjae wasn't very happy about this, because she didn't want to have to start at a new school, and she didn't want to loose her brother, as she would now not be able to see him as much anymore. after moving to busan, that's where she met her best friend, jimin, who happened to live across the street, and had offered to show her around school, the pair of them quickly becoming friends. from their, her father had become close with his parents, and they often spent special occasions together, always going out for dinner. minjae also managed to maintain a close relationship with her brother, with him keeping his promise to call her every single day. during the school holidays, she often flew to seoul to visit him, and was extremely happy and supportive of him when he was accepted into an entertainment company. she never really had a stable relationship with her mother, as the woman pretty much walked out of her life when she was ten years old and took her brother with her. other than her parents divorce, minjae's childhood life was pretty average.

PERSONALITY :
    ¤ from the outside, minjae seems like a bit of a bitch. it's not exactly the way she looks, but more so the way she holds herself. she is the type of person to always look done, and as if she'd rather be anywhere but there. she is an extremely sarcastic person, and has a witty comment for everything. you do not wants to get into a verbal fight with her, because minjae is the one who will come out victorious. she aways looks physically and emotionally tired, which she half blames on her best friend and his ridiculous antics. however, minjae has the most ridiculous sleeping pattern, and could probably pull two all-nighters in a row, running on nothing but caffeine, and then sleep for two days straight. people often say that her sleeping pattern is so messed up because she continuously stays up until ungodly hours of the morning, either studying or (more often) binge watching dramas. it's weird, because minjae absolutely loves her sleep, but is constantly putting other things first. she often looks like she could just suddenly start swearing at someone in the middle of the hallway, but she is harmless, and doesn't often intend to get herself into verbal fights in the middle of the hallway. she would've preferred to try and stay under the radar, but that idea went out the window as soon as she started high school. in reality, minjae can be a total cutie, and her aegyo is deadly (not that many people know this, because she always refuses to do it whenever she's in public). she a very territorial person, especially over what is hers, and doesn't like it when she feels people are getting too close to her friends, particularly her best friend, who she's known since she was ten years old. she is also very protective, and whilst she tries to avoid verbal fights, if you somehow insult on of her friends, she will come marching up to you, ready to attack. she often says that she hates her best friend, and is always exhausted by him, but she really does love him, and will not stand for anyone insulting him. she has no problems voicing her own opinions, and will not just sit still when something bothers her, which can often be the cause of the verbal fights she manages to get herself wrapped up in.

    ¤ he's honestly the opposite of her, and he is a more bubbly and cheeky person. he always seems to have a spark of mischief in his eyes, as if he's up to no good. he is just a total cutie who always seems to be smiling. he is also a very approachable person, even though he can sometimes be really cocky (but only minjae gets to see this side of him). he can sometimes be a bit impulsive, acting before thinking, but he really does mean well.

HOW DID THEY END UP FAKE DATING :
    ¤ he decided to just blurt it out to her family, because they had gotten into one of their little arguments where he was being a bit cocky, and kept insisting that she wanted to date him, even though minjae had just rolled her eyes. it was a big dinner, as minjae's mother and brother were visiting for once, to celebrate her brother's recent achievements of debuting, and her parents had decided they would be civil for the night, for the sake of both minjae and minhyuk (however, her father had said she could invite jimin if she wanted to, mainly because he figures that if they had a guest, things wouldn't get too out of hand). however, when minjae's mother began questioning about their relationship and making comments about how someone their age shouldn't be single, he'd kind of spoken before thinking and announced that they were dating. being put on the spot, minjae hadn't said anything because she was kind of shock that he'd just suddenly decided that they were dating without her consent. however, to her annoyance, her father had been extremely excited about the whole thing and had already run off to ring jimin's parents to discuss how "jimjae/taejae were finally together". and somehow within the span of half and hour, everyone in the town knew about it.

HISTORY :
    ¤ they have been best friends since they were ten years old, after minjae and her family moved to busan and into the house across from them. they are really close and know everything about each other. people often wonder how they became friends in the first place. they've also been mistaken for dating before on multiple occasions, due to the fact that they are so close.

HOW DID YOU MEET :
    ¤ they met when they were ten years old. minjae had just moved to busan/daegu from gwangju, and she didn't know anyone. he had been told by his mother to go and introduce himself and show her the way to the local school. at first he had protested, not wanting to be seen around with a girl, but he turned around and saw her slowly walking down the street, he suddenly took off running after her to introduce himself, which only made his mother smile. no one really understood how the two became close friends, but he was the first person minjae met after the move, and they somehow bonded because of that. it also didn't take long for their parents to become close family friends, and which led to them doing almost everything together growing up.

HOW SHE ACTS AROUND HIM :

    ¤ minjae thinks that they're just going to be the same, but then she realises quickly that he's going all out for it. she often gets flustered by some of the public displays of affection (which everyone else finds adorable). however, she does reasons to his skinship, and doesn't mind the cheek kisses and hugs, which he mostly initiates. she's sort of awkward around him, and has to remind herself that it is all pretend and that they're just best friends (however she seems to forget this every time he goes to kiss her.) when he does fuss over her, though, she can't help but wonder what it would be like if they were actually dating, and starts to question if the feelings she has for him are actually platonic.

    ¤ minjae spends a lot of time in private telling him off for making her flustered (which of course only makes him really cocky). however, they're still really close friends, and she still tells him everything. they're the type of friends that could talk for hours on end about nothing and everything, and never get bored of each others company. they can stay up really late texting each other. when they're not pretending to date, minjae doesn't feel as awkward, because she doesn't feel as if she's lying to anyone. however, she does notice that he's starting to become a bit more touchy-feely with her.

    ¤ he uses the whole fake dating thing as an excuse to be even more clingy to her, and is trying to prove to her that he's boyfriend material. even though they're meant to best friends, he knows he has feelings for her, no matter how deep down he tries to bury them. he is honestly trying to spoil her rotten under the impression that they're fake dating. he is always sneaking up behind her to give her beck hugs and resting his head on her shoulder, because they;re more or less the same height, with him only an inch or two taller. he likes making her flustered, and fussing over her, and showing every one that they're dating (even though it is meant to be "pretend")

    ¤ he usually just acts like a best friend would. they can talk about things for hours on end, and not get bored of each others company. they're so close that people have mistaken them for dating before. now that they're fake dating, he still uses it as an excuse to be cuddly with her, even when they're not out in public, and often likes to rap his arms around her and rest his head on her shoulder while she does homework or reads.

WHY DID HE AGREE :
    ¤ it was technically his idea, and minjae never actually agreed to it, since he just blurted it out without telling her first. but because the whole town suddenly knew within the span of half an hour, minjae really didn't want to have to go around and explain everything, and decided the best solution was to fake date until the whole thing blew over (to which he got all cocky about again, saying it was because she secretly wanted to date him, making her suddenly regret the decision). however, she expected the whole thing to blow over really quickly, so she didn't really expect for the town to still be talking about it months later. he only agreed to it because a) it was his fault everyone thought they were dating in the first place, and b) he had low-key been crushing on her since they were fifteen

    ¤ in all honesty, minjae is conflicted about her feelings for him. he's her best friend, so of course she loves him. they're best friends, and know everything about each other to the point where they are practically family. sometimes minjae wonders if their bond is deeper than just friendship, but then there are the times when she wonders how they even became friends. but what she does know is that she loves him more than she loves any of her other friends.

  » 02. why fake date him, of all people?
    ¤ she only agreed to date him after everything blew out of proportion. he was her best friend anyway, and it wasn't as if he was a stranger, so she didn't really think much would change since they were just "pretending"

  » 03. does she see herself having a real relationship with him after all this?
    ¤ at the beginning, she just thinks they'll go back to being best friends again. it does make her wonder if they could become a couple, because she realises that he really is boyfriend material, and there is a small part of her that hopes they will.

    ¤ she would probably be closest with MIDNIGHT MOON and she would be extremely protective over the girl, even though she's older, because she's so innocent and minjae feels the need to protect her from the cruel world.
