The city of Borealis can best be described as "the one place in the world the light did not leave." It is the only place left on Earth in which the pandemic did not reach, and it is fortified so that it will never happen; that is of course to say that immigrating into the city is almost non-existent.

The city itself is in decent enough condition; however, the cost of the Genesis Complex required corners to be cut, and as a result, there are a number of homes within the city that were left unfinished or are just in bad condition. Still, as many homes like that as there might be, there are just as many decent homes and apartments littered throughout the city.

Borealis as a civlized society, of course, has it's own police force and hospital. Police duty is fairly lax due to the strict weapon policies and access, as well as the fact that the game of Duel Monsters effectively serves as the means of any civil disputes, and aside from rare instances, the people of the city here have enjoyed as close to a peaceful life as one could obtain amidst the crisis that once quite literally plagued the world.

A cemetary can be found beside the Genesis Complex, although given the recent changes made to the land here, there aren't too many who have been buried here, and is still a fresh plot of land.
