  50. The teenager Jarod invites his best friends Travis and Billy-Ray to have a foursome with a thirty-eight year-old woman. While driving to meet the woman, Travis hit a car parked on the road. When they meet the woman, she gives spiked beer to them and they pass out. When the three friends wake up, they find that they are trapped in the fundamentalist Five Points Trinity Church of the infamous Pastor Abin Cooper and that they will be killed. Meanwhile the church is under siege by ATF agents led by Agent Joseph Keenan that have been ordered to destroy the terrorist cell. Will the teenagers be saved by the agents of the law enforcement agency?
  51. In the Midwest of the USA, three sex-crazed teenage boys receive an invitation from a woman online who wants to hook up with them. When the three friends arrive, they soon realise their promise of sex is a trap and soon they must escape from the deranged leader of a Christian Fundamentalist cult.

Man what a surprise this film was, loads of interesting characters and protagonist switching, you find yourself rooting for several characters one by one who never quite make it. <br/><br/>Story builds nicely with enough intrigue to allow you to go with it, Parks is so convincing in this film, damn he was good, and Goodman puts in a great turn too, the WACO scene worked on so many levels and I loved the slow down reveal at the end it reminded me of &quot;burn after reading&quot; except that was a dire film. <br/><br/>This film will definitely be on my watch again and again and again list.
  53. So, basically this movie was average. You know those movies - where there are parts, what you like and parts what you don&#39;t like. The main idea of movie and camera works, actors, acting and stuff like that - that was good. Some parts like one friend turning back on other, to try to run and save his life - that&#39;s good, it adds some realistic feeling to the movie. But the saddest part (what totally messed the movie up for me) was in the middle - when the big guy from those 3 got his automatic gun and was just standing in the most-likely position to get shot. Nobody would ever do something so stupid. If I&#39;d got a machine-gun i&#39;d slowly eliminate everyone in the house, who wanted to kill me, not just stand directly at the only door what people can get through and wait to get shot.<br/><br/>That was dumb, and completely messed any realistic feeling about movie (yes, I can accept that there could be some insane god-perishers who wants to kill homosexuals, but I can&#39;t accept that person doesn&#39;t fight for his life).
  54. Red State is as profane and anti-establishment as any of his other films, but the stakes are infinitely higher this time: This Kevin Smith movie has an astonishing body count.
  55. Although it was initially suspected that it would be a slasher film, it is actually more like an action thriller. The horror is derived from real life hatred and the violence that people are capable of committing. Also unlike most slasher films, all violence and death in Red State is done with firearms. The movie however does feature numerous horror genre tropes where comparisons can be made between it and The Devil&#39;s Rejects and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It is not based on an actual story but is inspired but various real life events. The villain is a composite of Fred Phelps, Jim Jones and other leaders of religious cults. The events of the story are also quite similar to the Branch Davidian tragedy in Waco, Texas. During the shootout with the ATF and Five Points Church, the congregation&#39;s children are hidden in the attic. Later the teenage church member Cheyenne tells them to escape out the back and they are not seen in the film again. During many of Kevin Smith&#39;s Q&amp;A appearances for the film he has said that if you listen to the background audio there is the sound of children screaming in the distance soon after the scene when Cheyenne and Jared are killed. Smith said he intentionally chose not to reveal the exact fate of the children. Kevin Smith&#39;s first drafted ending for Red State was to have the climactic shootout at the church end when the true apocalypse begins: Trumpet blasts herald from the sky which turns blood red and is filled with angels, one of which impales Pastor Cooper with a flaming sword. Given the film&#39;s $5,000 special effects budget this ending was logistically impossible yet elements of it inspired the film&#39;s final ending. No. This movie is a stand alone story. It does not contain (ex: Jay and Silent Bob) any characters or overt references to previous Kevin Smith films. a5c7b9f00b
