  2. Prologue
  3. Somewhere in between the stars, lies a dark rock. Its atmosphere is a writhing mass of flesh and sinew, it blankets an even darker world. Light is absent and sorely missed, light has abandoned this place, and it will never return. Your entire life has been spent in The Deep Pit, a massive hole in the grounds of a swamp. You were "born" from the will of the dead and have been clawing your way to the top for a long time. A brand on your forehead marks you as property of The Elders Tribunal, it burns and seethes while attracting foul creatures of all kinds. You are compelled by the brand to seek out the Tribunal and end it, you and everyone else in the pit are after the same thing. You clawed your way to the top; you fought, killed, murdered, and eviscerated just to escape. Will you answer the call of the Tribunal or will you wither and die in this dark world

  5. First Act
  6. The Deep Pit
  7. These stairways feel endless and stretch upwards to the heavens. They have been your home for a long time but a feeling in your gut tells you that the The Gaping Maw is near. Escape. Escape. Escape.
  8.
  9. Slates
  10. There has never been a day where you didn't have to deal with a Slate. Empty shells of the dead that wander around and harass the climbers of the pit. They are born from the walls and the ground, there is no end to them. They are weak but numerous. You are one but strong. There ghastly moans get closer and stop when they catch your scent. Fight to survive.
  11.
  12. Slate Drivers
  13. Every once in a while a Slate will become conscious, this is never a good thing. They become sadistic, cruel, violent, and angry but their bark is much worse than their bite. Slate Drivers typically pull other Slates with them but in this case, it seems to have acquired weapons and is planning on using them on you. Tear it apart, climber.
  14.
  15. Arzog
  16. This filth enjoys pushing climbers over and sending them back to the beginning or to their death. It is cowardly and small but unlike the Slates, Arzog worked hard to stay on this level. It won't back down easily, despite its diminutive stature. Wash this filth from the pit!
  17.
  18. Arzog: "Oh, another comes. Be he strong or be he weak? Arzog tests it! Fall, climber. Fall and weep." It laughs comically loud and grabs your arms.
  19.
  20. You: "Arzog, it is your turn to weep. Your turn to fall. Bleed, Arzog, bleed."
  21.
  22. Tombstone
  23. One of the last artifacts of the old world, Tombstone is a golem made of hundreds of tombstones. No one remembers who made it as that knowledge has been lost to the Firmament but everyone knows why it was made. To keep the Branded pit-dwellers underground and festering in their graves.
  24.
  25. Tombstone: "Turn back and die. Pit-dwellers belong in the Pit." Its gravelly voice vibrates your ear drums and causes discomfort.
  26.
  27. It is a construct, so you give no response other than a grunt. Escape, climber.
