Sona grew up in Kyoto next to a shrine which her mother and herself were in charge of taking care of, her father worked at the bank and her mother also volunteered in charity and foundation events. She grew up surrounded by music and had practised dancing and singing at a young age. At the age of 14, she had found out she was a kitsune at a music concert where she had saved the audience with her newly found powers. When Sona was 16, she found her first love and he soon became her boyfriend, but like most first loves, they were not perfect. Sona was abused by her boyfriend but kept coming back to him, she was young and naive and was blinded by love. Her boyfriend gave her bruises as well as cuts but to her this was just his way of showing his love, he was just overprotective was what she thought but she realized it was wrong when he came to their shared apartment drunk, he raped her and even though she tried to fight back it just couldn't save her. The next day her boyfriend was arrested for rape and abuse and she had become very rebellious, she had joined a group of teenagers who basically lived on the streets. They were a group of teenagers who didn't fit in, they were thought of as delinquents but then again, that's exactly what they were. When Sona's parents found out, they sent her to to Korea to attend a gifted school for teenagers with powers as her mother got a job at the infirmary while her father stayed in Japan.

She was doing a music recital and while she was performing, everyone was held hostage by a bunch of people and she was held at gunpoint by the coincidence that she was next to the criminal and in front of everyone. The masked men took her violin and smashed it on the floor, she was very angry considering her grandmother gave her that special violin. While the men were taking everyone's money, she picked up her broken violin and tried to put the pieces back together, eventually, she burst into tears and her violin mended itself immediately, she decided to take a risk. She planned to act as a decoy, while people got out and she would use common combat skills to fend them off. So, she started playing Partita No.2 and the men immediately turned around and collapsed, Gold light radiated off of her and she turned to see her mother smiling and her mother said to her "You've awakened, your powers have awakened." Her mother had explained that her music had compelled the offenders which made them pass out. After the incident, her mother and her moved to Korea so her mother would be closer to her new job as her father stayed behind to continue his own work at the bank.
