  1.
  2. Benedetto Velenosa
  3.
  4. 1. A pitch for the character. What makes them compelling? What goals do they have? What are their motivations? What early experiences shaped their lives? What are at least 3 different groups that the character has reason to interact with, and for the organizations to interact with them, to get them involved in the story?
  5.
  6. For every noted, notable prince of the blood that exists, there must be at least one lazy wastrel. Benedetto never completely forsook his responsibilities as a prince, but he definitely adopted a laissez-faire, go along to get along attitude towards his life. His motivations are luxury: fine wine, fine dining, fine dancing, fine dressing. While others of his family have been upwardly socially mobile, what he wants is to have as much fun as possible with as little personal risk to himself. He is a slitherer outer, inclined to slither out of any kind of trouble that might exist. It’s easy to see why a prince of Velenosa might motivate himself socially to develop in this direction considering the kinds of threats to one’s life an ambitious prince might have in the Lyceum.

  8. I think he’ll have reason to interact with the Champions as well as the Whispers, the socially intense areas of Arx society. As far as getting him involved in the story, I kind of suspect that Benedetto will be the unlucky sort for whom story kind of happens to him whether he wants it or not.
  9.
  10. 2. What makes the character fun to play? What traits about them will appeal to players? What kind of fun RP will they be able to pursue?
  11.
  12. There’s always room for the male socialite character to get picked up off the roster. He’ll be handsome, he’ll be witty, he’ll be weaselly. It’s my sincere hope that he’ll be just flash enough to attract attention from a player who wants to have social fun without being so flash he attracts the creepy type.
  13.
  14. 3. What makes them fun for everyone else that interacts with them? What about the character creates positive RP for others, if played by a fair minded player?
  15.
  16. I bet he’ll be a great party character.
  17.
  18. Baldessare Velenosa
  19.
  20. 1. A pitch for the character. What makes them compelling? What goals do they have? What are their motivations? What early experiences shaped their lives? What are at least 3 different groups that the character has reason to interact with, and for the organizations to interact with them, to get them involved in the story?
  21.
  22. An opposing foil to Benedetto, Baldessare is all about ambition: military mostly, tactical ambition, and a drive to show himself the finest horseman / best jouster in all of Arx. He’ll be driven to seek recognition. I intend to write him and Benedetto to bounce off each other in hopes they both get players, but he should be a driven, passionate character with ambitions to generaldom for Velenosa, so I think he should have plenty of room to grow and develop as his own character without relying on having a Benedetto. He’ll have reason to connect with knightly orders, maybe even the Society of Explorers or the Champions as well as the just general combat player group as a lot of people have fun doing that. I don’t think horse fanciers of Arx is really a _group_, but I know horse races and jousts are popular events, and it’s an area with thematic room to explore.

  24. 2. What makes the character fun to play? What traits about them will appeal to players? What kind of fun RP will they be able to pursue?
  25.
  26. I think he’ll have a lot of options to pursue fun fighty-fight stuff, and I think there’s always a hunger for prince characters who can fight who have a military kind of bent.
  27.
  28. 3. What makes them fun for everyone else that interacts with them? What about the character creates positive RP for others, if played by a fair minded player?
  29.
  30. I think this kind of personal drive and ambition is good in a character for motivating RP to attain those kinds of goals, and in the hands of a fair minded player it should drive story in that direction and not just whining (knock on wood)

  32. Patriccio Velenosa
  33.
  34. 1. A pitch for the character. What makes them compelling? What goals do they have? What are their motivations? What early experiences shaped their lives? What are at least 3 different groups that the character has reason to interact with, and for the organizations to interact with them, to get them involved in the story?
  35.
  36. My concept for Patriccio is a smoldering and dangerous allure, a riff on the mysterious femme fatale but a boy instead basically. You can never have enough slippery Lycenes. I did this with Sofia and while I don’t know that her player has done that much with it I think it’s the kind of true to type that Velenosa could use, and honestly, I love playing with gender flips.
  37.
  38. Goals: Velenosa > All, Patricco > Velenosa (eventually). Enlightened self-interest, with only a casual emphasis on the enlightened part.
  39.
  40. Possible connections: the Whispers, the Champions, the Mirrorguard, maybe even the Inquisition if there’s enough of a self-motivated reason for him to do it.
  41.
  42. 2. What makes the character fun to play? What traits about them will appeal to players? What kind of fun RP will they be able to pursue?
  43.
  44. INTRIGUE, MYSTERY, FLIRTING. I think he’s an easy sell.
  45.
  46. 3. What makes them fun for everyone else that interacts with them? What about the character creates positive RP for others, if played by a fair minded player?
  47.
  48. In the hands of a clever player, an intricate schemer can create all kinds of plot and story. Fingers crossed!

  50. Adamo Velenosa
  51.
  52. 1. A pitch for the character. What makes them compelling? What goals do they have? What are their motivations? What early experiences shaped their lives? What are at least 3 different groups that the character has reason to interact with, and for the organizations to interact with them, to get them involved in the story?

  54. I thought of a few different ways to go on this character but ultimately I think anyone that picks him up is probably going to be doing so to come in with an Avaline, so my idea here is to write him as a peacekeeper, a kind of warmly grounded cynic, and a Lycene Iron Guard. I think that gives him a lot of room to develop as like, a foil to this character who is written as bright and perky but knightly, and also potentially gives him a spread of hooks in an active, orderly org in case the marital RP isn’t enough to hold onto. Kind of a Grayson in Lycene clothing, what with idea of nobility as passion for service, but with that Lycene edge to his pragmatism that might make him a teensy bit ruthless. Iron Guard, discipleship of the Sentinel maybe; maybe the Crown Court (as one of their trial by combat guys) or one of the knightly orders that float around (East Light, Mirrorguard, etc).
  55.
  56. 2. What makes the character fun to play? What traits about them will appeal to players? What kind of fun RP will they be able to pursue?
  57.
  58. I think a hint of edge will give him a little pepper for bite that would appeal to players. Also I think there’s a lot of draw in the policeman-noble type, we’ve had a fair few of them and players seem to be super into it.
  59.
  60. 3. What makes them fun for everyone else that interacts with them? What about the character creates positive RP for others, if played by a fair minded player?
  61.
  62. I think a solid, grounded character can provide a lot of necessary ballast for a lot of story, and there’s always room for jurisdictional stuff between the IG, the inquisition, the faith, and of course crimey types.
