From Age 720 to Age 730, war raged across Planet Plant between the technological Tuffles, and the savage Saiyans. While the Tuffles prospered inside their walled cities, the Saiyans struggled simply to survive. The war drug on for ten years, until the full moon rose and the Saiyans all transformed into mighty Oozaru. Under King Vegeta III’s leadership the Saiyans prevailed against the Tuffles, eradicating their race and winning the ten year long war between the two races. However, a year after that momentous victory, the Galactic Emperor Freeza appeared. Faced with the choice to join or die, King Vegeta wisely surrendered, the Saiyan Army officially becoming part of the Freeza Force.

For the next two years, Saiyans were sent to either conquer or cleanse dozens upon dozens of different worlds. Among those Saiyans was one warrior named Karn, who while only 17 at the end of the Saiyan-Tuffle war was already an accomplished fighter. Due to his power Karn was quickly made a team leader. Leading Leyas, one of his oldest friends, Tatsu, mentor and the one who’d taught him to fight, and Meloka, a younger Saiyan woman who admired him, he led his four-man team on several successful missions. On his missions his team faced little difficulty, until the fateful battle of Planet Dun. On that planet Karn had his first near-death battle since the war, facing down one of Dun’s strongest fighters. If it wasn’t for Leyas’ quick intervention, Karn would have met his end against the foe. After that fight the team had taken a rest for the day, and when waking up Karn’s powerlevel had grown from 2,830 to 4,825. With a massive zenkai under his belt, Karn led his team to finish purging life from Planet Dun, culminating between a titanic struggle between Oozaru Karn and a massive lizard, Karn ending the fight by tearing it’s head off.

After winning that battle and cleansing Planet Dun of all other life, Karn and his squad returned to the outpost of Freeza Planet 79 to recuperate, and prepare for your next mission. On the way to the next assignment Karn learned more of Meloka, and how she’d came to look up to him and why she joined his squad. Once on Krunn, Karn’s team did battle with the Grey’s bio-engineered death creatures, culminating in a struggle with the strongest abomination facing down Karn, Leyas, and Meloka all as Oozaru, thanks to a well-placed Power Ball from Tatsu. Due to excellent teamwork the team overcame the challenge, destroying the regenerating lizard once and for all. But there wasn’t much time for celebration, as he then received a distress call from Nappa, his men all wiped out and on the run from the Greys.

Leaving Krunn behind, Karn desperately blasted off towards Nappa’s last coordinates, informing Commander Cui of what happened before eventually arriving on Planet Kvir’s moon. However, as the team broke atmosphere the pods were destroyed, tjen with a single attack the robot that wiped out Nappa’s squad nearly kills him, Leyas, and Meloka, aomething awakening within Karn, allowing him to destroy the large machine. After searching for safety and nearly paying dearly for it, they return and hide out inside the machine until the next day. During that night, Meloka had shown her true feelings for Karn, the two spending a rather intimate evening together. The next day the Saiyans assaulted the fortress, rampaging as Oozaru, leveling the base, and terminating a powerful man-sized machine. In the hangar’s rubble Karn found a working ship, gathering everyone and leaving Kvir’s Moon.

Once back at base, his team spent four months waiting on the arrival of Zarbon, one of Freeza’s top men to issue your report. Tatsu left your team, traveling with Nappa back to Planet Vegeta to teach King Vegeta III and his elites the Power Ball technique. Replacing Tatsu was a recruit Meloka’s grown up with, her childhood rival Tunnip. After Zarbon leaves, a distress call went out to all Saiyans: Planet Vegeta is under attack! Arriving as soon as possible, the Saiyans find their home being invaded by more of the Greys’ mechanical terrors. However, thanks to Karn’s arrival and desperate protection of the Power Ball, the tide of battle turned when King Vegeta and his elites entered the battle, all as Oozaru. The Saiyans defeated the invaders, then launched a devastating counterattack on the Grey’s homeworld. At the Grey laboratories Karn, along with Meloka, Tatsu, Turles, and Tunnip, were all nearly killed by another colossal machine. This awakened the Super Saiyan power within Karn, using it to destroy the Grey’s forces before passing out. Victorious, King Vegeta obliterated their now-lifeless world, sending a clear message across the stars.

Upon returning to Planet Vegeta, the king himself gave Karn a trial to obtain the rank of elite: defeat the young Prince Vegeta in a match. After an intense match Karn was victorious, earning both the rank of elite and the responsibility of training the young prince for his first mission. But partway through training him Emperor Freeza himself appeared, searching for the Super Saiyan. After a quick show of power Freeza left, confident the Super Saiyan was no threat: having easily tanked Karn’s strongest attack with one hand in his first form. Some time after the emperor’s departure Karn, along with Prince Vegeta, Meloka, Leyas and Tunnip, left for their next assignment. What they found there was Dr. Nefarious, a surviving Grey scientist out for revenge. His forces pushed Karn and his team to the brink, Karn pushing through his limits and finally becoming a true Super Saiyan. While all the Saiyans survived the battle, so too did Nefarious, the doctor fleeing into the depths of space.

Back at base, Commander Cui informed Karn that he’d tracked Dr. Nefarious to a hidden lab on Planet Dun, the world’s new owner erecting a barrier to prevent Nefarious’s escape. Their prey found, the Saiyans immediately departed for Planet Dun, and upon arrival met with the Shapeshifting Master of Darkness, Aku. Setting up the fight between Karn’s and Nefarious’s forces for his amusement, the battle came to an end when Karn killed the mechanical Nefarious himself. But when leaving Planet Dun and Nefarious behind, some instinct took hold, Karn ordering a return home to Planet Vegeta. However, the ship was attacked by the Hive, forcing a stop to get repairs. At the Pirates’ Den, Karn met with Lord Boros, who in exchange for joining and helping free a nearby planet from the Hive, would have his men repair his ship. Karn agreed, his team facing Lord Boros to prove their strength. Meloka achieved the False Super Saiyan state against the pirate lord, who accepted your terms and had you join up with him.

On Planet Jhoria, disaster struck. During the battle Meloka was grievously wounded and near-death, when suddenly the time-traveling demon princess Towa appeared. She healed Meloka, then vanished as a certain Kai made herself known. Once the time travelers departed the mission was completed without further incident. But aboard Lord Boros’ massive ship, a Zoldyck child assassin attempted to end Karn’s life. Defeating the assassin, Karn finished the boy off, and once back at the Pirate’s Den his team left Boros’ crew behind, returning to Planet Vegeta.

Once back home Karn and Prince Vegeta came face-to-face with Beerus the Destroyer, who was rather unimpressed by the power of a Super Saiyan. Bardock, who had been presumed dead, then had a quick spar with Karn revealed he’d come into possession of a Fruit of the Tree of Might. Bardock wanted to keep his survival a secret from the PTO, which you agreed to. But as Bardock, Gine, and their boys Raditz and Kakarot left, Emperor Freeza’s ship appeared above Planet Vegeta. Once inside the palace Freeza confronts Karn, both about holding back and for traveling with the ‘pretender’ Boros. Karn showed his true power as a Super Saiyan, Freeza revealing his second and third forms and easily crushing Karn. Yet he didn’t kill the Saiyan, the emperor amused by Karn actually enjoying the one-sided battle and letting him live. Waking in the Healing Pod after the fight, Karn found Planet Vegeta again under siege, this time from the Hive. However, their invasion didn’t last long, as Karn and his team shot the ship down, and mopped up the survivors.

Karn’s next mission sent him to the front of the war with the Hive where he and Leyas reunited with Sarada, Leyas’s twin sister. Finding the ruins of an ancient warship, Karn recruited the machine warriors within to destroy a Hive forward attack group. At the peak of the battle Karn’s Final Flash rips a hole completely through the planet, eliminating the last of the Hive there. After the battle was won Karn’s group was reassigned to aid PTO ally Chairman Drek’s Blargian forces in conquering of Planet Novalis. After defeating several of Nefarious’s upgraded robots and defeating the Zoldyck assassin Emilia, received an ominous message from Freeza ordering all Saiyans to return to Planet Vegeta. Encouraged to end the battle quickly everyone split up, Karn encountered a wizard who sacrificed himself to summon a massive demon, Mustakrakish. Karn fought the demon, but as it nearly killed him Meloka’s rage exploded, becoming a full Super Saiyan. Fighting together as Super Saiyans Karn and Meloka slayed the demon, Karn passing out and the team leaving Planet Novalis behind.

When the team returns to Planet Vegeta, Karn telepathically introduces Meloka to him as a Super Saiyan as well before touching down. On the planet’s surface Karn and Meloka went to their child Chaya, discovering the abnormally powerful son of Paragus, Broly, had seemingly developed an attachment to your infant daughter. After speaking with Paragus, Karn aids the scientists in destroying a rogue prototype, leaving his ship and Battle Droids in the care of the Head Scientist afterwards. Karn interrupts King Vegeta and Silva Zoldyck’s meeting, the Super Saiyan surprisingly defeating the Zoldyck in one-on-one combat then meeting his father, Zeno Zoldyck. Afterwards Karn and Meloka spar in the arena as Super Saiyans for the crowd, then the next day Karn and Meloka faced down Freeza again, Karn reaching a new level of Super Saiyan power. Impressed, Freeza showed off his final form, easily withstanding Karn’s full power before Beerus the Destroyer arrived, questioning the Saiyans about the existence of a Super Saiyan God. Disappointed he couldn’t find anything out, Beerus left to take a nap until the time his vision predicted the divine Saiyan would appear.

Once the Saiyans had all recovered from both Freeza and Beerus’ visits, the Saiyans began their invasion of Planet Kashyyyk, soon to be New Salda gifted to them by Lord Freeza. The battle was intense, Karn and Meloka defeating then befriending the large savage Ubo who had been abandoned there as a child. After their fight they aid the Saiyans in finishing off the Kashyyyk natives, claiming the planet for the Saiyan race. After the battle Karn became a student of the planet’s tiny yet ancient Guardian, learning his unique fighting style as well as several different fighting techniques including how to sense ki and the Barrier before heading off on the next mission. Meeting Aku and Bardock in the Pirates’ Den, Karn had his first encounter with the Black Swordsman Guts, the mercenary chasing the fleeing shapeshifter. But instead of pursuing them, Karn met up with Arctus, a distant relative of Freeza’s and infamous alcoholic who briefed the Saiyans on the Ctarl-Ctarl, and their representative Aisha. With the Ctatl-Ctarl Empire, much as with the Saiyans, conflicts and disputes are settled with combat. After beating them easily, Karn decided to up the ante, having Meloka toss a Power Ball for the Ctarl-Ctarl to transform, which proves a mistake as they quickly gain the upper hand. With no other options Karn gazes at the Power Ball and transforms, at least momentarily, into a Golden Oozaru. But a moment is all it takes to defeat her, Aisha soundly defeated. But the drain proved too great, Karn quickly passing into unconsciousness where he agreed to work for Towa, the sorceress leaving her mark on his hand just before he awoke. Once awake the negotiations were completed with the Ctarl-Ctarl, then Karn had a surprise encounter with Emilia Zoldyck.

The young assassin informed Karn of her father’s capture by the Kurta Brothers, and asked for his help retrieving him in exchange for being owed a favor from both her, and her father Silva who still bore a lethal grudge. Agreeing to help, Karn recruited Bardock as well before departing, the Saiyan having grown far stronger since he’d left the PTO. With new allies Karn confronted the brothers, Ubo’s sacrifice to protect him pushing Karn over the edge, Ascending and swiftly defeating the brothers, killing one and leaving the other to Silva. Once the grudge Silva had is put to rest, Karn and his team return home, Freeza arriving with many high-ranking officials and declaring the next military campaign in the West. Karn is introduced to Sorbet, Abo and Cado, and the Ginyu Force, the strategy being the Freeza Force will split into two offensives to attack separate star systems. But first Karn and Freeza spar again, Karn showing off his Ascended Super Saiyan power. After sparring with Freeza Karn returned to the Guardian’s Island, Leyas and Sarada witnessing Broly’s power firsthand. Later the attack plans are finalized, and the PTO’s war with the Covenant began.

Four months of intensive training later Karn and his team, as well as the other battle-ready Saiyans arrived at their first battleground. During the battle Karn came face-to-face with the commander, who nearly took Karn’s life with a lucky stab from his Energy Blade. However, the sight of Karn falling infuriated Vegeta, the young king’s rage allowing him to finally transform into a Super Saiyan and slay the Covenant base’s commander. With the battle won, Karn healed from his wounds in his ship’s Healing Pod, waking up just in time for another Covenant ship’s arrival. Working with Meloka, the two Super Saiyans took it down, Turles and Tunnip helping mop up the survivors. During the skirmish, however, both Karn and Meloka were wounded by the Covenant Needlers: weapons that shoot homing crystal needles that explode. Once the skirmish was over Karn returned to his ship, carrying Meloka and getting her set up in one of the Healing Pods. But before he could do the same for himself, Karn passed out, waking inside the pod surrounded by the pink crystal. The crystals had somehow reacted to the Healing Pod fluids, completely encasing the Super Saiyans. Thanks to Ubo’s quick actions Karn was pulled free, the two of them freeing Meloka as well. However, she wasn’t breathing, Karn panicking before Towa appeared. After a quick conversation she agrees to help, only for the Time Patrol's Trunks to appear.

As he does, however, Karn gains access to a special demonic power granted by Towa, allowing him to fight the Time Patroller on even grounds and best him in combat. Before a final blow could be struck the Supreme Kai of Time appeared, taking her minion back. Karn hugs Towa, thinking her for her help before going back into the ship, thanking Ubo as well. The next day, after much needed sleep Karn agrees to help train young King Vegeta in controlling his newfound Super Saiyan power. Just in time to get a warning that a Covenant fleet is two weeks out. Which Karn and Meloka spend training, readying themselves for the battle to come. The fighting is short but intense, Karn personally killing the commander before losing consciousness, waking up only to find himself back on his ship in the restored Healing Pod. Emerging, he heads to the bridge where Leyas, Turles, Sarada and Tunnip are waiting with Meloka, only to learn that this ship is three hours behind the Covenant fleet heading for New Salda. But on the day of the battle, Towa sends one of her androids Churai to teleport the Saiyans. Narrowly avoiding Trunks once more, everyone arrives on New Salda just as the ships start descending. The battle is fierce, most of the ships getting destroyed before deploying their fighters but two Hunters pursue Karn and Meloka. They manage to defeat them, King Cold arriving and applauding their efforts.
