  1. Tabletop Randomizer
  2.
  3. Tired of playing the same old Tabletop RPGs (think D&D) over and over again? Does your DM create a wonderful colorful world that isn't a bright mash of all colors together? Are you bored of scaled encounters and important backstories?
  4.
  5. Introducing the Tabletop Randomizer! Currently it's only for NWOD, which is what I'll be DMing for at some (TM) SRROC meeting. I'm looking for 3+ people interested in taking about 3ish hours depending on interest to run a one-shot randomized campaign.
  6.
  7. Here's the idea that inspired it all:
  8. Imagine you start out as 3 adventurers in a bright pink tavern. The barkeep is a dragon. It gives you a quest to go retrieve the wooden potato from the cave of short wrinkles. You travel to the cave and come across a team of librarians who attack. After combat, you loot the librarians. You find a golden spoon, 7 Excaliburs, a quiver of +1 Arrows, and 140,963 gold. You arrive at the cave of short wrinkles. There is a solid green ice door covering the cave. You enter the cave to the interior of the castle. Sitting in Dracula's chair is Mario. Mario dies because he starts the battle with the instant death status effect. Behind the chair is a chest with the Wooden Potato and a reward of a bar of iron, the Crash Bomber, and 7 gold. Also two of you are dressed in a terrifying combinations of colors but one of you looks super cool in randomized colors.
  9.
  10. This one-shot will be in the realm of fantasy crossing mostly with D&D's races and magicks and such, as well as lots of other nonsense.
  11.
  12. NWOD Mechanics (you don't need to know these, it's simple enough I can just explain it as needed):
  13.
  14. Here's a good intro if you want, but it's long and we're going to be ignoring lots of mechanics in it (so just read what's below and you'll be fine): http://www.surreality-rp.com/topic/321-basic-new-world-of-darkness-nwod-guide/
  15.
  16. What's NWOD? "New World of Darkness". We're going to be skipping the whole "New" and "of Darkness" part - NWOD is a tabletop RPG system that's flexible enough to do really anything. Here's the character sheet's we'll be using: https://mrgone.rocksolidshells.com/pdf/NWOD/NWoD1-Page.pdf
  17.
  18. NWOD uses only d10s, I'll be bringing enough for everyone. Skill checks involve rolling a number of d10s and counting the "Successful dice". If a die comes up as an 8, 9, or 10, it's a success. If it comes up as a 10 you get to re-roll it on top of that. For example, you roll 4 dice and roll a 1, 4, 8, 10. You re-roll the 10 and it comes up 8. The result of the roll is then "3 successes". The number of dice you roll is dependent on your stats, but I'll just tell you which stats you add up to roll.
  19.
  20. Basically you have only a few things to worry about (and you don't even have to worry that much because these will all be randomized!):
  21. Attributes
  22. Int - how smart you are
  23. Wits - how fast thinking you are
  24. Resolve - think "Constitution" but of the mind
  25.
  26. Strength - how strong you are
  27. Dexterity - how physically fast you are
  28. Stamina - how physically bulky and resistant to things you are
  29.
  30. Presence - how commanding your personality is
  31. Manipulation - ability to persuade, argue, barter, etc
  32. Composure - how well your appearance+personality holds up under pressure
  33.
  34. and your Skills:
  35. There's a bunch of these, and specialties that will also be randomized. We'll be ignoring the whole "-N unskilled" rule too.
  36.
  37. Everything is measured in dots, and rolls are called usually as a combo of an attribute+skill. Wanna climb a wall? Roll Strength+Athletics number of d10 dice. Wanna persuade somebody? Use Presence or Manipulation + Intimidation or Persuasion. If you have a specialty in that skill, you get an extra 1 die to that roll (So say you have 3 Dexterity, 2 in Firearms with a specialty in pistol, when firing a pistol you get to roll 6 d10s)
  38.
  39. Mechanics we ignore: Merits, Damage types, Morality, Flaws, Speed, Defense, Armor, Experience, Virtues, Vices, Factions, Concepts, Groups
  40. Mechanics added: You have a Max MP used for spells, which cost MP. You regain half your HP+MP on short rests and all of it on long rests. Physical attacks are (usually) roll Strength+(Some Weapon Skill)+Weapon Modifier minus the roll of the target's Dexterity+Number of Pieces of Armor. There's also a ton of magical effects that will just have to be made to work on a case-by-case basis.
