Glossary of Terms

Arga: The First Living World; home of demons, monsters and men

The First Realm: The state founded by the first succubi from Pytho at the beginning of the AI calendar. Usually referred to simply as The Realm. The proper name given in ancient times is Argana, seen very rarely outside old texts and monuments in modern times.

The Empire of Gypt: One of the oldest former provinces of the First Realm, the Gypthan are a powerful and ancient culture that more closely mirrors the early civilization of the Demon Lords of old than the Romantic trappings of the current First Realm

Gypas: The six thousand year old order of human magi assigned as bodyguards and caretakers of children of the ruling class of succubi in The Realm. Once they complete their training, they remain with the child from shortly after her birth until the woman’s marriage. The name Gypas comes from the original residents of Gypt. When they were conquered, one of the earliest Demon Lords took their sorcerer king prisoner. She twisted his mind into subservience with demonic magic and famously had him play with her children daily to prove how thoroughly she owned his soul. It became habit, then tradition for already married blues to make use of highly skilled enemy men captured in this way, and then to make use of those slaves children for this purpose. Modern Gypas are descended from every major magic house of humans ever beaten by the ancient Demon Lords of the Realm and are carefully matched and trained in the forbidden quarter of Noviarice. They are the last living treasures from all corners of the old Realm.

The Primordial Demon Realm:A current phrase used to describe the area covered by the First Realm at the apex of the empire’s extent.

Axis:The World Between Worlds- The rumored power and source of the Ancestral Gate.

Cor Durum: The first province of the Realm, and the only one even partially under true blue control before Cassia began her Reunification campaign in the 6400's

Noviarice: The modern capital of the Realm that replaced the ancient ruin of Zuerst as the seat of the Aurom's power.

The Sharn Sea: The Darkwater Sea- A massive landlocked lake of molten tar that covers the Omphalos. Sacred to monsters as the location of the Ancestral Gate and where all blue souls are said to return when they die.

Omphalos- The stone monument said to mark the exact point of the Ancestral Gate on Arga's side.

Pytho:The World That Was- The legendary origin place of the royal blues.

Arcadia:The World of Men- Source of all prophets and object of worship to all monsters who have corrupted their vision of it into a peerless paradise of boundless love and innocence untainted by the wars of monsters. In truth, the little blue planet known to its denizens as Earth.

Houses of Demonic Nobility

Aurom:The First Lord and her closest family. The greatest authority in the entire Realm. In ancient times, all blues were known as the Aurom because all blues are descended from the very first Demon Lord herself, the single blue who came to Arga through the Ancestral Gate. Only after many generations when their numbers grew great were the houses established.

Argentum:Composed of a combination of extended family of the First Lord as well as the Ordo Argenta, they are the backbone of noble knights and lords who provide the main military and administration of the remains of the Realm

The lesser houses:Many other minor tiers of burnished names who serve in every major functionary position of the Realm.

Aes:The least of the lesser houses. Being a blue at all guarantees this dubious honor. Indicates no close blood to the throne nor any great resources needed to hold the upper house names. A heartbeat away from a common monster.
