- CURDLE JAM - EXTENDED RULES AND SUBMISSION INFO V2
- ==================================================
- - Ensure that each member has joined the game jam with their itch.io account (Click "Join Jam" on the jam page.)
- - Fill the submission forms completely and accurately when submitting. You can click the "Submit" button right after the jam starts to check out the forms that need to be filled.
- - You will be required to explain how your game fits the theme during submission forms.
- - Upload a web build. Whatever engine you use is fine as long it is playable on a web browser and runs from your itch game page. I understand that a number of engines do not support web builds. Sorry about that, in the past we used to download and play any game, but it was just too messy for me.
- - Be sure to link the other developers to the submission as well, so that all the collaborator names are visible on your game submission. To do so, you must generate a link for them via Edit project > More > Admins. After generating a link for your collaborators, a checkbox to make their name visible publicly will appear, so be sure to check that as well so we can see every collaborators name.
- - Only web builds will be played on stream, and your game will also need to meet audio criteria to be heard on stream.
- - The gist of the audio criteria is that your game needs to have appropriate full audio that is mixed for comfort. That means levels that don't spike, clip, or cause the player discomfort while playing with headphones, as most people will play with headphones.
- ****
- - Don't submit previously made games. Submissions to this jam are only for games made within the jam period, for this jam's theme and purposes.
- - Please keep your games SFW, violence and mild swearing are fine, just no hateful content or sexual content (that means no nudity, no racism, etc.)
- - Absolutely no flashing lights and colors, no extremely loud noise spikes, no shocking jump-scare equivalents of any kind
- - No highly contentious political topics, no nationalist or culturally divisive themes, any or any content that can harm others or ruin the vibe of the jam stream
- - Do not use AI generated assets / content / workflow in your game, this includes direct use of generated graphics, audio, and scripts. We can tell, and it comes off as really unprofessional and low quality. We will likely silently judge those who break this rule with pity in our hearts (or remove their submission)
- - No slandering or any content directed at another person. This includes your game, and your behavior in the discord. If someone is really misbehaving, just play it cool and privately alert a moderator and they will take care of it
- - If you choose to put a Curdle cameo in your game, please do so respectfully. That goes for including any likenesses/avatars of other community members. Do not attempt to bully, antagonize, make any inappropriate representations of others, or make explicit graphic depictions of them.
- - No depictions of real-life celebrities, politicians, copyrighted characters, or any intellectual property that isn't your own. Spoofs/Parodies are fine, just make them tasteful, and make sure they deviate enough from the source material.
- - If your game breaks any of these rules, the moderators will remove your game from the submissions and it will not be played on stream. Depending on the nature of the offense, you may also be banned from the community as well.

- Here are the Submission Form Info Fields you will need to fill out when submitting your game. Leave yourself time to answer these before the submission deadline:
- 1 - Team Members --> Format: Name of Handle - Development Role - Itch URL
- 2 - Other Assets Used --> State which assets, tools, and systems weren't made by the team during the jam. Credit the sources appropriately, preferably with a link if its an online resource. Giving a clear explanation as to its origin is fine as well. This rule applies to every aspect of the game's creation. If you think it may be relevant enough to list, then it very likely is.
- 3 - Is your game a web build that runs from your itch page (web build)? --> Your game needs to be a web build that runs on the itch game page if you want it played on the submission stream.
- 4 - Does your game have fully implemented sound effects and music? --> Answer YES if your game has sound effects in every appropriate place and background music that are mixed to match. If your sound is only half-implemented, if the sound variety is too little, if its not comfortably mixed, or you only have one element and not the other, please answer NO. If your game only features ambient noise in place of music or has any long stretches of silence, please answer NO.
- 5 - Theme Usage --> How does your game fit the theme? If you cannot provide an answer for this, or it seems like your game was not made for this jam, your submission will be removed.
- 6 - Additional Notes (optional) --> Any specific information about your game submission that you think I should know, write it here.
- 7 - If there is specific information about your game submission that we should know, write it here.
- Things we *love* here:
- - a funny anecdote or quip about the game's development
- - a particular bug to be aware of while playing
- - a preferred control set you'd like players to use
- - a reflection of your experience making the game
- - something interesting you learned during the process
- - whether or not you will be continuing working on the game
- Things we do not like here that are for some reason very common:
- - an apology for your game being "bad" (we celebrate everyone's effort, no one thinks its bad)
- - telling us how you worked for less time than was given during the jam period (it's true for everybody that participated)
- - begging for your game to be played on stream when it does not meet the criteria
- - making any other negative comments or excuses about your game
- You made it all the way to the end of this submission, so you may as well leave something fun here for your future self to see. Thanks for submitting!
