- Here are my thoughts on NSO Majora's Mask (switch version)
- Pros:
- - Pauses and resets are super quick.
- - Every laggy area in the game seems to have very minimal to non-existent lag
- - Loading zones seem to be faster or on par with the English version of the WIIVC release.
- - Game looks really clean
- - Potential for updates to fix the cons
- - N64 switch controller fixes the c-button mapping and ess
- - Although modding a switch can get very expensive depending on which version you have and a bit of the pain the ass you can make multiple profiles and create save states to practice.
- Cons:
- - Joy-cons and the pro controller have really bad controls. Mostly pertaining to the ESS position and the way the c-buttons are mapped out.
- - Tad bit more input delay than I'm used too
- - Pause buffering is a bit awkward and might come across as inconsistent
- - To play the game somewhat decently you need a $100 N64 switch controller ($50 if Nintendo gets them back in stock)
- - Using a GC controller doesn't have the target button mapped
- - Less accessible to newer players since you need a $200 console if you already don't have one along with a $50 yearly subscription. Also, you'd need an adapter to use a properly mapped controller or spend more money on the previously mentioned N64 switch controller.
- Personally, I can see this becoming the new meta as details about loading zones and other lag-related parts of the game are being calculated vs the WIIVC version. I have already ordered a switch N64 controller on eBay from Japanese scalpers. I will continue to stick to the WIIVC version until there is a definitive conclusion on whether it's faster to play on. I personally don't like change that much as it forces top players to leave their comfort zone and basically have to learn how to play on more input lag and just a different version of the game. NSO does look promising but as I stated earlier, there are just too many holes in the data currently recorded to make a confident switch to this version.
