Guy: Looks like everyone’s finally gotten permission to leave the ship.

「あ、凱さん。
いつ[GGG]からこっちに?」
Koji: Oh, Guy. When’d you get back from [GGG]?

凱
「少し前にな。
[ゾンダー]対策関係の話を、
岡長官たちとしてきたところさ」
Guy: Just a little while ago. I’ve been discussing [Zonder] countermeasures with Chief Oka and the others.

フォウ
「じゃあ少し進展があったのね」
Four: So you’ve made some progress then?

凱
「ああ。
もう少し形になったら、
みんなにも伝えられると思う」
Guy: We have. Once we iron out the details a bit more, I’ll tell you all about it.

ロックオン
「にしても、あんた働き過ぎじゃないのか?
少しぐらい休んだらどうだ?」
Lockon: You must be working yourself to the bone, huh? Why not relax a while?

ハルト
「そうですよ。この間の戦闘だって、
先行してゾンダーと戦ってたんですし」
Haruto: He’s right. And in the battle the other day, you were fighting the Zonder solo before the rest of us arrived.

凱
「なに、俺はサイボーグだからな。
ちょっとぐらい休まなくても平気さ」
Guy: Come now, I’m a cyborg. I can handle being overworked at least a little bit.

凱
「それに、自分の世界を守るための戦いだしな。
別の世界から来たみんなの方が、
よく戦ってくれている」
Guy: And besides, it’s for protecting my own world. I’m just grateful for all the people from different worlds fighting so valiantly alongside me.

宙
「一応世話になってる世界だからな。
その分はキチっと働くさ」
Hiroshi: It’s the world that needs our help right now. We’ll work hard to keep it safe.

キョウ
「…ただ、できれば人間同士で戦いたくはないけどな」
Kyo: ...Still, I don’t wanna see humans fighting each other, if at all possible.

メイウー
「そうね。
覚悟はしているつもりだけど…」
May-Yu: Yeah. I think I’m ready for it if I have to, but...

キョウ
「せっかくちゃんと本物の身体があって、
生きてるんだから、もっと大事にすりゃあいいのによ」
Kyo: You guys have real bodies, real lives. You should take better care of them.

カミーユ
「キョウの言う通りだよ。
ただ、この世界では人間同士の戦いが長く続き過ぎて、
その当たり前のことが見えなくなってるんだ」
Kamille: Kyo couldn’t be more right. But in this world, humans have fought each other for so long that we’ve forgotten that obvious fact.

ロックオン
「その点はウチの世界も同じだから、
何も言えないな」
Lockon: Our world’s the same in that regard, so I can’t really say anything myself.

ハルト
「そう…ですね」
Haruto: Yeah... I know what you mean.

キョウ
「わりい、なんか湿っぽい空気にしちまったな。
話題変えようぜ、話題」
Kyo: Damn, I really brought down the mood, huh? Let’s change the subject to, like...

キョウ
「そうだ、ゾンダーやボアザン星人が攻めてきたのって、
ここ最近の話らしいけど、[インベーダー]は違うらしいな」
Kyo: Right, so I heard the Zonders and the Boazanians attacks were recent, but not the [Invaders].

カミーユ
「俺たちが生まれる前にはもう襲来していたよ。
その話は凱さんの方が詳しいかもな」
Kamille: Yes, they were invading Earth before most of us were even born. Guy might know more about that.

凱
「俺はまだハタチだから、
お前たちとはそんなに変わらないんだが…」
Guy: I’m still only 20, so I’m not that different from you...

凱
「少なくとも俺が子供の頃には、
月面の一部はインベーダーに支配されていて、
当時のスーパーロボット軍団がずっと戦っていたよ」
Guy: But when I was a child, a part of the moon was under control of the Invaders and the Super Robot Army was fighting them practically non-stop.

甲児
「こっちの世界は、
そんな前からスーパーロボットがあったのか」
Koji: So this world had super robots before now, huh?

カミーユ
「その戦争を勝利に導いた立役者は、
確か…[ゲッターロボ]だったはずだ」
Kamille: The central figure that lead to that war’s victory was... [Getter Robo], I believe.

ちずる
「ゲッターロボって、あの竜馬さんの?」
Chizuru: By Getter Robo, do you mean Ryoma’s?

凱
「あれが当時と同じ機体かはわからないが、
竜馬さんが、あの時戦っていたゲッターチームの
ひとりなのは確かだ」
Guy: I can’t say if they’re the same machines or not, but I’m positive Ryoma was a member of the Getter Team at the time.

ロックオン
「歴戦の戦士ってわけだ。
それならあの雰囲気にもうなずけるな」
Lockon: So he’s a veteran. I guess that might explain the vibes he gives off.

凱
「いや、昔はあそこまでの雰囲気じゃなかったんだが…」
Guy: Well, he didn’t use to always have that sort of atmosphere around...

ハルト
「知り合い、なんですか?」
Haruto: Did you know him before?

凱
「いや、一方的にゲッターチームを知っているだけさ」
Guy: No, what I know about the Getter Team is completely one-sided.

フォウ
「ねえゲッターロボって本当は3人乗りなんでしょ?
竜馬と、車中佐…あとひとりは誰なの?」
Four: Say, wasn’t Getter Robo supposed to be piloted by 3 people? There’s Ryoma and Major Kuruma... But who’s the third?

凱
「神隼人さんだ。
噂では、今は車中佐のように軍で働いているらしいが」
Guy: That would be Hayato Jin. Rumor has it that he’s employed in the military, just like Major Kuruma.

ちずる
「もし3人揃うことがあるなら、
是非チームワークのこととか教えてもらいたいわね。
お互いを信頼し合う仲間だったんでしょうし」
Chizuru: If the three of them all got together again, I’d love to learn all about their teamwork. They must have a lot of trust in each other.

竜馬
「ふざけるなッ…!」
Ryoma: Like hell we do...!

「!!」
Chizuru: !!

竜馬
「あいつが…あいつが信頼し合う仲間だと!?
冗談も休み休み言え!」
Ryoma: That guy... You think I’d trust him!? Maybe you should think before you run your mouth!

ハルト
「ちょ、ちょっと落ち着いてくださいって、
いきなりどうしたんですか!?」
Haruto: J-Just calm down, please! What’s gotten into you all of a sudden!?

竜馬
「あいつは…あいつは…!」
Ryoma: He... That man...!

ロックオン
「あんたの何に気が障ったのかはわからないが、
あまり褒められた態度じゃないと思うぜ?」
Lockon: Look, I don’t know what’s got you so pissed, but don’t you think you’re going too far?

竜馬
「…チッ」
Ryoma: ...Tch.

(Ryoma leaves.)

ちずる
「な、なんだったのかしら?
いつもどこか怖そうな人だけど、
あんなのは初めて見たわ」
Chizuru: Wh-What was that about? He’s always been a little scary, but I’ve never seen him like that before...

凱
「…すまないな、少し用を思い出した。
席を外させてもらうよ」
Guy: ...Sorry, I just remembered I have something to do. I’ll see you all later.

(Guy leaves.)

「あ、凱さん?」
Koji: Ah, Guy?

Ryoma: Dammit...!

「竜馬さん」
???: Ryoma.

竜馬
「…俺に何の用だ、凱?」
Ryoma: ...Something you want from me, Guy?

凱
「さっきのあなたの様子が気になったから…
という理由じゃいけませんか?」
Guy: Your outburst a moment ago... Would you mind telling me what caused it?

竜馬
「ふん、平和を守る正義の担い手様は、
俺みたいな大罪人と一緒にいない方が
いいんじゃないのか?」
Ryoma: Hmph. You sure a peacekeeping justice-type should be associating with a terrible criminal like me?

凱
「あなたは、『[月面戦争]の英雄、流竜馬』なんですから」
Guy: What you are is the “Hero of the [Moon War]”, Ryoma Nagare.

竜馬
「………」
Ryoma: ...

凱
「俺がまだ子供だった頃、
あなたは俺たち子供の憧れの的だった」
Guy: When I was still a boy, you were what us children looked up to.

竜馬
「…昔の話だ」
Ryoma: ...That was a long time ago.

凱
「ええ、昔の話です。
16年前のあの日、あなたは
早乙女博士を殺害した罪で投獄されてしまった」
Guy: Yes, it was. On that day 16 years ago, you were imprisoned for the crime of murdering Dr. Saotome.

竜馬
「………」
Ryoma: ...

凱
「…けど、俺は今でも信じられない。
あの流竜馬が、何の理由もなくあんなことをするなんて」
Guy: ...But I could never believe that, not even now. That Ryoma Nagare would do something like that for no reason.

凱
「教えてください。
早乙女博士が亡くなったあの日、
本当は何かあったんじゃないんですか?」
Guy: Please, tell me. What really happened on the day Dr. Saotome died?

竜馬
「…俺は、早乙女のジジイを殺しちゃいない」
Ryoma: ...I didn’t kill old man Saotome.

凱
「え?」
Guy: Huh?

竜馬
「って言ったらどうする?
証拠は何もない。あるのは俺の言葉だけだ」
Ryoma: Is that what you want me to say? Because there’s no proof to back it up. Just my word.

凱
「それは…」
Guy: Well...

竜馬
「探偵気分が味わいたいなら、よそでやりな」
Ryoma: If you feel like playing detective, do it somewhere else.

凱
「待ってください!
俺はそんなつもりじゃ…!」
Guy: Wait, please! That’s not what I meant to do...!

竜馬
「今さら俺の口から話すことなんか、何もねえ」
Ryoma: I got nothing more to say to you.

「………」
Guy: ...

(An alarm sounds.)

凱
「! 出動シグナル…!?」
Guy: ! The signal to dispatch...!?

弁慶
「軍から出動要請だ!
早乙女研究所周辺に展開していた調査隊が、
インベーダーの攻撃を受けている!」
Benkei: The military gave us orders to deploy! The research team stationed at the Saotome Institute came under attack by Invaders!

「早乙女研究所だと…?」
Ryoma: The Saotome Institute...?

Episode 21
Our Hero


(Scene begins on the map screen of the Saotome Institute. The Tower (Hayato’s land battleship in Getter Armageddon) is being attacked by Invaders.)

???
「損害を報告しろ」
??? (Hayato): Damage report.

ヤマザキ
「13番から24番までのミサイル発射不可。
バロゾフ隊は全滅です」
Yamazaki: Missiles 13 through 24 cannot be fired. Barzof teams have been completely annihilated.

凱
「タワーの戦闘力だけじゃ迎撃しきれませんよ!
なんだってインベーダーの奴ら、急にこんな…!」
Gai: The Tower’s fighting strength isn’t enough to take them on! Damn those Invaders, showing up out of nowhere...!

カイ
「…こいつはやはり、
[真ドラゴン]が関係しているのかねぇ?」
Kai: ...Don’t you think this has some connection to [Shin Dragon]?

???
「それはフリージャーナリストとしての勘か?」
???: Is that freelance journalist intuition?

カイ
「ブンヤの勘ってのは意外と馬鹿にならないもんさ。
それに、伊達に早乙女研究所絡みの事件を
追い続けてるわけじゃない」
Kai: Reporter’s intuition isn’t as dumb as it sounds. Besides, I haven’t been chasing leads related to the Saotome Institute incident for nothing.

カイ
「ここなら、何が起こっても不思議ではない」
Kai: As far as I’m concerned, anything could happen in this spot.

「フッ、その通りだな…」
???: Heh, you make an excellent point...

カイ
(さて…ツテを活かして、
この男がいる艦に乗ることができたものの…
無事、生きて帰れるかねぇ)
Kai: (Good grief... I may have been able to use my contacts to get onboard this ship... But coming back alive is another story.)

「!この反応…!
大将、軍の救援部隊が来てくれた!」
Gai: ! We’ve got a reading...! Commander, the army’s rescue team is here!

(Londo Bell appears. The player’s team and Ryoma deploy.)

竜馬
「いるぜいるぜ、インベーダーどもが…!」
Ryoma: There you are, Invaders...!

???
「あのゲッターは…」
???: That Getter is...

カイ
「ほぉ…救援部隊はラー・カイラムか。
なんて偶然なのやら」
Kai: Well now... So the Ra Cailum is the rescue team. Isn’t that a coincidence.

ブライト
「こちらはロンド・ベル隊旗艦、
ラー・カイラム艦長のブライト・ノアだ。
これより貴艦を援護する」
Bright: This is Bright Noa, captain of the Londo Bell flagship, Ra Cailum. We’ll provide cover for your ship.

「感謝する、ブライト・ノア大佐」
???: You have my gratitude, Captain Bright Noa.

「…!?」
Ryoma: ...!?

弁慶
「間違いない、調査隊の指揮官は…!」
Benkei: The commander of the research team must be...!

竜馬
「貴様かぁ! 隼人オオオオオ!!」
Ryoma: It’s that bastard! HAYATOOOOO!!

隼人
「フッ、お前が戻ってきたことは知っていたが…
本当に昔と変わらんな、竜馬」
Hayato: Heh. I knew you had returned but... You really haven’t changed a bit, Ryoma.

竜馬
「黙れッ!
あのジジイとてめえのおかげで、俺は地獄を見た!
ここで殺されても文句は言えねえぞ!」
Ryoma: Shut the hell up! I went through hell because of you and that old man! So you better not have any complaints when I kill you right here!

凱
「竜馬さん!?」
Guy: Ryoma!?

クルツ
「あいつ、何の話をしてるんだ?」
Kurz: Someone wanna explain what the deal is with him?

隼人
「竜馬、そんなに俺を殺したいのなら、
まずはインベーダーどもを片付けてからにしろ。
このタワーには収容した調査隊のメンバーもいる」
Hayato: If you want to kill me so badly, Ryoma, you should start by clearing out the Invaders. The Tower is home to all the research team members as well.

竜馬
「何を…!」
Ryoma: Why should I—!?

弁慶
「冷静になれ、竜馬!
目の前にはインベーダーがいるんだぞ!」
Benkei: Get a hold of yourself, Ryoma! Invaders are right in front of you!

竜馬
「くっ…」
Ryoma: Grr...

アスカ
「あいつ、急になんなのよ? どういう事情?」
Asuka: What’s with him all of a sudden? What’s the story here?

三日月
「…それを知ってどうするの。
ここでやることは変わらないし」
Mikazuki: ...Would it matter if you knew? It wouldn’t change what we’re here to do.

アスカ
「ちょっと生意気じゃない? 年下のくせに!」
Asuka: You’ve got some nerve, don’t you? You should be more respectful to people older than you!

三日月
「俺が何歳か知らないでしょ」
Mikazuki: You don’t know how old I am.

凱
「ともかく、インベーダーの撃退を!」
Guy: Forget about that, intercept the Invaders!

(Battle 1 begins.)

(This exchange triggers if Ryoma battles an Invader.)

竜馬
「まさかあの野郎がここにいやがるとはなッ…!」
Ryoma: I can’t believe that son of a bitch is here...!

インベーダー
「キシャアアアーッ!!」
Invader: GWAAAGH!!

竜馬
「邪魔だ!
さっさと消え失せろ、インベーダー!!」
Ryoma: Beat it! Get the hell out of my sight, Invader!!

(Battle 1 ends when all enemies are defeated.)

竜馬
「フン、片付いたか」
Ryoma: Hmph. It’s done.

竜馬
「さあ、隼人!
今度こそ、てめえを…!!」
Ryoma: As for you, Hayato! This time, I’ll—!!

隼人
「いや、まだだ」
Hayato: No, you’re not done yet.

(More Invaders appear.)

ディーダリオン
「まだ出てくるのか…!」
Didarion: They’re still coming out...!

カレン
「数が多いね…!」
Kallen: There’s so many...!

弁慶
「真ドラゴンが、
奴らを呼び寄せているとでも言うのか?」
Benkei: Are they being drawn here by Shin Dragon?

隼人
「[ゲッター線]の亡者どもめ」
Hayato: It’s their obsession with [Getter Rays].

童馬
「チマチマと来やがって面倒だ!
どいつもこいつも…俺がぶっ殺してやる!」
Ryoma: I’m getting more and more pissed off by the second...! I’m gonna kill every last one of them!

(Ryoma moves towards the Invaders.)

弁慶
「あの馬鹿ッ…!
すっかり頭に血がのぼっていやがる!」
Benkei: That Ryoma...! He’s letting his anger get the better of him!

凱
「竜馬さんっ…!」
Guy: Ryoma...!


(Scene ends.)

(Next scene picks up where it left off. GaoGaiGar is force deployed along with the previous units.)


竜馬
「うおりゃあああああーっ!!」
Ryoma: ORYAAAAAA!!

(Ryoma takes out a group of Invaders.)

日吉
「す、すごい…」
Hiyoshi: A-Awesome...

デビルマン
「[デーモン]も顔負けの暴れっぷりだな」
Devilman: That ferocity would put a [Demon] to shame.

凱
「あれが伝説の男、流竜馬の戦い…」
Gai: So that’s how Ryoma Nagare, the Legendary Man, fights...

カイ
「あんたの元チームメイト、
かなり張り切っているようだな」
Kai: Your former teammate looks pretty enthusiastic out there.

隼人
「だが1機で突出しすぎている。
あれでは仲間の援護を受けられん」
Hayato: But one machine stands out too much. He won’t be able to receive support from his allies.

弁慶
「もうすこし下がれ、竜馬!
タワーには対インベーダーに特化した武装もある!
あの艦の援護を受けながら戦え!」
Benkei: Hurry and fall back, Ryoma! The Tower has anti-Invader armaments! You should fight while letting that ship provide backup!

竜馬
「バカを言うな…!
あんな奴に、背中を預けられるかッ!」
Ryoma:  Don’t be stupid...! There’s no way I’m letting that guy watch my back!

(3 Getter Dragons appear.)

凱
「! ゲッタードラゴンだと!?」
Guy: ! Are those Getter Dragons!?

隼人
「奴らめ、残っていた残骸に寄生したか」
Hayato: They’re parasites, controlling the left behind wreckage.

竜馬
「フン、操られたゲッター如きで、
俺に勝てると思うな!」
Ryoma: Hmph, as if some puppet Getter could win out over me!

(Ryoma attacks and the Getter Dragons disappear.)

竜馬
「なにっ…!?」
Ryoma: What the...!?

豹馬
「分離して避けやがった…!」
Hyoma: They separated to dodge him...!

(The Getter Dragons reappear and attack Ryoma. They’re now surrounding him.)

竜馬
「ぐああっ!」
Hyoma: Ugggh!

弁慶
「言わんこっちゃない…!
あんなオープンゲットなんざ、
いつものあいつなら引っかからんだろうに!」
Benkei: I can’t believe this...! He’d have never fallen for that Open Get if he was his usual self!

エイジ
「いけない、他にもゲッターが!」
Eiji: Oh no, the other Getters!

(The Getter Dragons prepare to attack Ryoma.)

竜馬
「ク、クソがッ…」
Ryoma: D-Dammit...

弁慶
「童馬!!」
Benkei: Ryoma!!

(The screen flashes white as the Getter Dragon’s attack. Guy is standing in front of Ryoma when the screen dims.)

凱
「ぐうっ…!」
Guy: Guuaaah...!

竜馬
「ガオガイガー!?」
Ryoma: GaoGaiGar!?

オルガ
「無理矢理割り込みやがったのか!?
無茶だろうが…!」
Orga: He forced himself past their lines!? That’s nuts...!

凱
「ぐ…でりゃああああああーっ!!」
Guy: Ugh... DERYAAA!!

(Guy knocks all 3 Getter Dragons away from him and Ryoma.)

凱
「はぁ…はぁ…うぐっ…!?」
Guy: Haa... Haa... Ugh...!?

竜馬
「馬鹿か…!
何故俺なんかを庇った!?」
Ryoma: Idiot...! Why did you protect me!?

凱
「俺が昔憧れたヒーローは…こうやって戦っていた…。
仲間を助け…仲間と共にっ…」
Guy: This is how...the hero I admired used to fight... Helping to help his comrades...standing beside them...

竜馬
「…!」
Ryoma: ...!

凱
「あなたと隼人さんの間に、何があったのかは知らない。
けど、あのタワーには調査隊が…
多くの民間人が乗っているんだ…」
Guy: I don’t know what happened between you and Hayato. But the Tower has the research team...and a lot of civilians onboard...

凱
「少なくとも、今だけでいい…。
あの頃のように戦ってくれ…」
Guy: Even if it’s just for now... Please, fight like you used to...

凱
「俺たちが憧れた、
みんなを守るために戦う流竜馬として…!」
Guy: As the Ryoma Nagare we all admired, fighting to protect everyone...!

竜馬
「…いったん下がるぞ、凱」
Ryoma: ...Let’s fall back for a second, Guy.

凱
「りょ、了解…!」
Guy: R-Roger...!

(Ryoma and Guy line up with the other Londo Bell units.)

ブライト
「竜馬、勝手な行動を…」
Bright: Ryoma, because of your actions...

竜馬
「悪かったな、艦長。
あとで1発2発殴ってくれ」
Ryoma: Sorry, Captain. Be sure to hit me a few times once this is over.

ブライト
「ならば、覚悟しておけ」
Bright: Then be prepared for that.

弁慶
(あの竜馬がまさか謝るとはな…)
Benkei: (Didn’t think Ryoma would actually apologize...)

竜馬
「…凱、さっきも言ったが、
俺は隼人の野郎に背中は預けられねえ」
Ryoma: ...Guy. Like I said before, I can’t trust Hayato to watch my back.

竜馬
「だが、お前になら背中を預けて戦えそうだ」
Ryoma: But you sure as hell can.

凱
「…!」
Guy: ...!

竜馬
「いくぞ、凱!
奴らを全部ぶっ潰す!」
Ryoma: Let’s go, Guy! We’ll crush ‘em all!

凱
「ああ…!
任せてくれ、竜馬さん!」
Guy: Right...! Leave it to me, Ryoma!

(Battle 2 begins.)

(Battle 2 ends when all enemies are defeated.)

凱
「さらに多数のインベーダーが接近中!
この数は…さっきまでよりもずっと多いぞ!」
Gai: More Invaders approaching! Their numbers... There’s even more of them than before!

マイコ
「もう、いつになったら終わるのよ!?」
Maiko: Geez, is this ever going to end!?

オルガ
「地下の真ドラゴンってのをぶっ壊して済むんなら、
手っ取り早えんだろうが…!」
Orga: We could end this quickly if we could just destroy Shin Dragon in the underground basement...!

竜馬
「上等じゃねえか!
来るってんなら、徹底的に…」
Ryoma: That’s fine by me! If they’re gonna keep coming, then I’ll keep—

???
「真ドラゴンの目覚めは近い…」
???: Shin Dragon’s awakening draws near...

Ryoma: ...!?

「しかし、今はその時ではない…。
だから俺が抑えよう…」
???: However, now is not the time... So I will keep them at bay...

「来るべき、その日まで…」
???: Until that day comes...

竜馬
「誰だ!? 姿を見せやがれ!」
Ryoma: Who are you!? Show yourself!

凱
「どうかしたのか、竜馬さん!?」
Guy: What are you talking about, Ryoma!?

竜馬
「お前らにも聞こえてんだろ!?
今の声が!」
Ryoma: Didn’t you guys hear that!? There was a voice just now!

マオ
「声? そんなものは聞こえなかったわよ?」
Mao: A voice? Did anyone else hear anything?

竜馬
「なんだと?」
Ryoma: What?

ヤマザキ
「! 司令!
インベーダーの動きに異変が!
まるで散らばるように遠ざかっていきます!」
Yamazaki: ! Commander! The Invaders are behaving strangely! They’ve almost completely scattered and are moving away!

隼人
「どういうことだ…?」
Hayato: And just why would that be...?

メグ
「助かったってことでいいのかしら?」
Meg: Does that mean we’re safe?

美和
「理由はわからないけれど、おそらくは…」
Uzuki: I think so, but I have no idea why...

竜馬
「さっきの声が聞こえた途端に、
インベーダーどもが消えやがった…」
Ryoma: As soon as I heard that voice, the Invaders disappeared...

竜馬
「あいつの言ってたことと、
何か関係してやがるのか…?」
Ryoma: Does this have something to do with what he was saying...?

Bright: Kai? Kai Shiden?

「よお、ブライトさん。
しばらく見ないうちに老けたんじゃないか?

One one hand, they are known to particularly apt at understanding their peers due to their high awareness and perception skills; on the other hand, Newtypes are often revered as some of the greatest ace pilots due to their exceptional talent.
