  2. ----
  3. the idea for the cyoa is that you are a new slasher and you have 6 backstory that you can pic.
  4.
  5. 1. born evil like michael myers
  6.
  7. 2. doing this shit for kick's like ghostface
  8.
  9. 3. turn into a killer because of your childhood like Jason Voorhees
  10.
  11. 4. you want revenge like The Burning man from The Burning
  12.
  13. 5. you are a psychopath killer like Hannibal Lecter or Norman Bates from psycho 1960
  14.
  15. 6. OC, you can make your own backstory for this.
  16.
  17. and the other part's of the cyoa is choosing your weapon, mask, outfit, power, what place do you live, and more.
  18.
  19. I don't know what else to add but that all I got, you guys can add more ideas to this.
  20.
  21. also, the pic related was from this guy: https://twitter.com/slimyswampghost/status/1302363206032257029
  22.
  23. go watch those movie's
  24. -
  25. sounds like some kino, go for it anon
  26. -
  27. it's all about horror movie slasher's, I don't what to add but... maybe doing crazy kill's will give you more power/more "evil"?
  28.
  29. like in stagefright
  30.
  31. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1YQ2JOIZVg
  32.
  33. the more you kill, the more point's you will get to unlock other stuff?
  34. -
  35. >the more you kill, the more point's you will get to unlock other stuff?
  36. Make the method killing far more important than just numbers. Have a whole section for restrictions on how you can kill (common horror movie tropes) that all give you power for killing in that particular way.
  37.
  38. So if you choose something like "Terrorizer", "Behind You", and "All Alone", then you can only gain power from kills where the target is terrified, they can't see you, and they're by themselves. But you also get far more power for such a kill than someone who just picked "Terrorizer".
  39. -

  41.
  42. so like the blank face killer in "Blood And Black Lace"

  45.
  46. that is a really good idea, anon.
  47. -
  48. >that is a really good idea, anon.
  49. Thanks, anon. I'll admit, thinking about it, I kinda want to do a cyoa in that style myself someday. Maybe I'll do it in the opposite direction to yours, make it a cult cyoa where you control a cult doing a Cabin in the Woods-style ritual.
  50. -
  51. hey, if you want to use my cyoa, go for it.
  52.
  53. >Maybe I'll do it in the opposite direction to yours, make it a cult cyoa where you control a cult doing a Cabin in the Woods-style ritual.
  54.
  55. I fucking love Cabin in the Woods, that sound like fun
  56. -
  57. >hey, if you want to use my cyoa, go for it.
  58. It's your idea, man. Given my current wip, it'll be a LONG time anyways before I could get around to anything new anyways. Once that's done, maybe I'll do that cult cyoa, but I still ain't gonna take your idea.
  59. -
  60. alright, good luck with your wip & the cult cyoa, anon.
  61. -
  62. Thanks anon. I'll make definitely make a build for your horror/slasher cyoa when it comes out.
  63. -
  64. yeah, I need more ideas for it.
  65. -------------------------------------
  66. Well, a greater variety of backstories, including some supernatural ones.
  67. Method of choice, location of haunting - what fetters them to a certain place?
  68. -
  69. maybe they die at that place?
  70. -
  71. Possibly.
  72. Also, favorite targets, order of takedowns - whom to they pick off first? Who will they leave for last?
  73. And then you can add the various traits that were already mentioned in the paste, such as particularities regarding kills, that make them more difficult to execute, but reward the player with points they can spend elsewhere.
  74. -
  75. horror movie stereotypes characters, like which type they are
  76. -
  77. You have the revenants, like Jason Vorhees - physically not a zombie, but he came back from the dead.
  78. Insane asylum escapees, thrill serial killers, vigilante-types, "knight templar"-types who are motivated by screwed-up morals or ideology.
  79. On the supernatural side, you have the fully supernatural ones, like Freddy, who can only kill people in their dreams. Possessed objects, like Chucky from Playtime.
  80. Maybe you can have a rouge A.I. or a "ghost in the machine", who can only kill people indirectly as they have no physical bodies, beyond the hardware.
  81. -
  82. I like that but what about robots killers?
  83. like that one in....
  84. um
  85. -
  86. You could have that as an "upgrade" to the killer A.I. - limited network capabilities, but can do the dirty deed on their own.
  87. ------
  88. wait
  89. what about IT?
  90. -
  91. IT?
  92. -
  93. pennywise
  94. -
  95. Oh.
  96. Yeah, killer clowns could be their own category.
  97. So can delusional, lost soldiers (like those Japanese officers who held their dugout locations for decades after WWII ended).
  98. Could even be a simple contract killer, or government agent of some police state.
  99. -
  100. I like that
  101. john carpenter the thing and alien
  102. -
  103. Or the alien from Cadaver.
  104. -
  105. ?
  106. -
  107. Sorry, Carrion.
  108. -
  109. OH YEAH!
  110. ok... um. killer bugs, animal, and objects?...
  111. like those b-horror movies?
  112. -
  113. Sure.
  114. Hell, be a killer Tomato, if you'd like to be.
  115. -
  116. nice
  117. I think that all of it?
  118. -
  119. More or less.
  120. For the magical alternative of robots, you can throw in golems. Likewise, poltergeists instead of A.I.s
  121. ------------------------
  122. but I have no idea how to make a CYOAs
  123. -
  124. Grab some images, type in the sections you'd add into the CYOA, shit like abilities, scenarios, possible locations, etc. somewhere (Use notepad or whatever), then just add that all together. Use a CYOA you like as a frame of reference. It doesn't matter if it looks like shit, you just need to make it easy on the eyes and not be a convoluted mess.
