  18. "So, I'm pretty sure I'm not actually the guy you were trying to summon."
  19. >"No, no, you definitely are the one who will help us against the terrible threat- wait, is that summoning circle still..."
  20. "Still active, yeah. If you don't mind, I'd like to introduce my associate, Demona."
  21. >"Monster?!"
  22. "No. Her name is Demona. She's a gargoyle, if you were wondering. Fortunately, I suspect she is not limited to the same bindings that the summoning circle has placed on me."
  23. >"We, uh... wait. Is that still active?"
  24. "Yes. If I might introduce a few more of my associates..."
  25. >"What in the world... how many are coming through with you?!"
  26. "A thousand and one. Next time you should think before tearing holes in reality. Now, let's get out of here and give my friends some room to come in, and we'll discuss just what I can do for you..."

  28. In short, "what I could do for you" involved a refined version of the magical tech upgrade package I'd worked out during Master of Magic, as well as working to change the administrative structure of the kingdom and its armies. Also, weaponized banishing charms work quite well for magical muskets. It took surprisingly little time for someone to figure out the basic principle behind that, and along with the enchantment anchoring I'd taught them, to turn that into more effective weapons. While a magazine-fed solution wouldn't really work, it turns out that magical revolvers were plenty possible and effective. Also, gatling guns.

  30. When the demons inevitably invaded during the kingdom trying to tear itself apart, they did not last very long.
