- Adrian blinked.
- He looked the man in the eye, raising a single eyebrow. There was a simple puff of air released from his nose, the scholar reacting to the man's proclamation as if it were a bad joke that warranted an exasperated sigh.
- He almost thought about laughing, but a mixture of emotions prevented him from embracing the irony of the situation. Steel-blue eyes glanced off into the distance, glancing at the Spires of Agartha.
- War, conflict. It was never ending. A plague that prevented anyone from reaching the mountainous pieces of divine essence. A scourge that prevented any real progress. Every time one took a step in the right direction, violence pushed them two steps back.
- A shame, truly.
- As the fire got closer and closer to him, the floodgates of his mind opened.
- Selene. He couldn't help but smile. Knowing her, she'd go to the ends of the world to bring him back just so that she could kill him again for losing. As hislife faded away, she could feel a part of her being ripped away from her soul. It was cleaved in two. She would have to carry the Montbell flame all by her lonesome. But she, more than anyone, was capable of doing so. Her body burned with an unspoken tenacity.
- Dylerun. His brother, his rock. A man that he wished he could have spoken to more in his final moments. Adrian wished he could have worked on more projects with him. He wished that he could have helped the man turn his dreams into realities. One day he was going to soar the skies, and Adrian hated knowing he wouldn't be there by his side.
- Aesperus, Ausar, Sima.
- Forte, Ceres, Marge.
- He wished he could have been granted more time to think about those names. He loved them all dearly. Loved them so much that he felt his heart ache as time seemed to move in tandem with the encroaching flames that threatened to consume him. There was only one more moment left, and all he could think of was a woman.
- Penelope.
- He wanted to hold her in his arms. To press his head to hers, to place his hand over her heart one more time. To grow old with her. To lie with her. The storm between them came to a sudden and abrupt end. The hurricane that encompassed them was reduced a single droplet of rain.
- One that cascaded down the side of his cheek, only to be vaporized by the intense heat that followed.
