Description: Shiri isn't a very large woman -- she's five foot four and relatively slim, being in general lean and lithe, if not the *toughest*. Her hair is black, straight, and sweeps down to her shoulders, and her eyes are a cool blue color. She makes for a fairly pretty figure, though she is... slim in a couple of areas. When wearing casual clothing, Shiri is usually found in jeans, blue or purple shirts, and a navy windbreaker... but she looks every bit as at home in the dress uniform of the RCMP: the famous Stetson hat, the red jacket (with the blue epaulettes of a constable), the brown boots, and even the striped breeches, though that would be the most likely piece of it for Shiri to forgo. She wears a little bracelet with a Star of David on the chain.

Personality: Shiri is an idealist at heart and has been since childhood, who generally wants to believe in the goodness of people or groups. This is reflected in her general behavior, with is affectionate and welcoming With that said, however, Shiri also isn't stupid, and she can usually tell when somebody is trouble, thanks to both time as a police officer and general perceptiveness. In general, Shiri can be inquisitive, and she has a tendency to seize onto relatively small details -- and if these details are wrong it can also be hard to disabuse her of them, because sometimes her ego does get a bit big. She likes animals, especially her black Hanoverian horse Jordan, whom she adores and cares for greatly.

(Extended Backstory:) Born in cold Labrador City in Canada to a Jewish family (a stay-at-home mother and a Mountie father), Shiri grew up warm and open, a contrast to the area's climate. She also grew up with more than a little bit of an idealistic streak, something helped along by her warm relationship with her father. Hearing about his exploits and his job, young Shiri decided that she wanted to emulate him, and unlike most children who make these sorts of decisions, the little girl stuck to it for the rest of her life.

Shiri excelled through high school (where she was one of those model student kids, albeit sometimes one of the more self-assured ones), and thanks to this she made it into the University of Toronto, where she studied forensics in order to follow her childhood dream. Being fairly adept at forensic studies, she graduated with a bachelor's in science in forensics, and with this new credential she joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as a forensic investigator in St. John's

Though she was sometimes grating and in the eyes of her coworkers thanks to her ego, Shiri did her job well, and desiring the pomp and circumstance of the role she applied to be a rider of the RCMP's Musical Ride after the requisite two years of active officer duty, a position she landed thanks to taking pretty naturally to horse riding and the precise riding drills performed by the Musical Ride. Though she applied for the prestige of the role, Shiri changed during the three years she was a member of the Musical Ride: she hadn't expected to click with her horse Jordan as well as she had, but click with him she did, and spending time with the other riders and absolutely doting on her horse ensured that her ego shrunk a bit (though it certainly did not disappear), and that her natural affectionateness went through the roof.

In the last couple of months of her time as a member of the Musical Rider was marred by Jordan taking a rare sickness that few knew how to treat; rather than letting him succumb as she went back to active duty, Shiri convinced the RCMP to part with the horse and sent him off to New York to be under the care of a particularly expert veterinarian and visiting him as frequently as her job allowed; though these combined to cut significantly into her living expenses, damn it, she loved that horse. It's on one of those visits to New York, at the very tail-end of her horse's recovery, that she got involved in this story.

Starting Items: Shiri's Forensics Kit: After more than a few frustrations with workplace equipment, Shiri eventually acquired her own personal kit to supplement the workplace tools with when they proved problematic, which includes such things as luminol. She packed it despite being off-duty for the same reason she did her uniform: her job is a proud part of her identity.

Horse Care Kit: A set of various tools for taking excellent care of a horse. She does dote on Jordan, and bringing a kit with which to do so was a fairly big no-brainer for Shiri.


Proficiencies: Investigation: Shiri studied forensics and is a trained forensic investigator; she is therefore a good investigator.
Horse Riding: Shiri took well to the very precise riding of the Musical Ride, and these performances sharpened this new skill greatly.
Shooting: Shiri hasn't shot anyone, but she *is* a trained law enforcement officer, and she *does* know how.
