  1. Okay, so Ace had surgery. I know I hate it when people aren't forthcoming on details, so I'll cover a few questions you guys might have at this point. We'll start with the biggest typical point of concern (the IRL angle).
  2.
  3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  4. 1) A - Why the surgery, what actually happened? / B - What manner of surgery? / C - Are you okay/becoming okay?
  5. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  6.
  7. A (Why/What Happened) -> The reason for the surgery was a very severe colitis flare-up. TL;DR the colon gets very, VERY angry, and in cases like mine, it can get so bad medicine simply cannot help anymore (even really strong stuff cannot subdue it) and surgery becomes the only option that will work. That was determined to be the case here.
  8.
  9. B (The Surgery) -> Specifically, the surgery was an ileostomy. Factually speaking, they removed 80% of my colon. So yes, now I deal with a bag. It's awkward, but it's still a TON better than having to constantly visit the bathroom and be in persistent discomfort. Factually, I have to go back in and schedule another surgery in 6ish months or so regardless, because one of the two following things MUST happen, depending how the remaining 20% of my colon is by that time:
  10. * If the remaining 20% has settled down, it can be used, so I'll go in for surgery to re-hook-up the plumbing as "properly" as possible, so to speak, so therefore no more bags past then. (Meaning, my current ileostomy situation is temporary in this case.)
  11. * If the remaining 20% is determined to need removal, then I will go back in for a different reason - to have the remainder taken out, and measures will be put in place to solidify my ostomy as permanent.
  12.
  13. No I'm not worried about which ends up being the situation. I'm a take-it-as-it-comes guy who feels it's needless to worry about something that's outside one's own control. If they say it's gotta be made permanent, that's life and I can't really argue; what needs done needs done.
  14.
  15. C (Recovery) -> I am recovering quite well so far, I'd say. My energy levels won't return to what they were pre-surgery for another week or two yet; some tasks are still tuckering me the hell out and I have to lay down for a while. This is normal and is part of the recovery process, thus not something you really need to worry about. My energy will return, just not overnight.
  16.
  17. At the end of the day: I got surgery, the problem is no more, it will be awkward for a while, I will deal with it.
  18.
  19. Just so you know, for about 2 weeks or so, I'll have in-home care: A nurse will be available to me, at my house, for a generally short visit each day, to assist with anything that's still awkward for me, or to answer any questions I might have. (So the hospital didn't just boot me out, we're doing the follow-through and making sure I understand everything I'll need to know.)
  20.
  21. ---------------------------------------
  22. 2) What does this mean for your stream?
  23. ---------------------------------------
  24.
  25. My energy levels will gradually return; just not overnight, as stated. We'll focus mostly on TPs and other similar things for a while until I've got some energy, but I absolutely want to get back to doing things like speedrunning again. The fact that I want to start running NES Mario 3 again has not changed; I feel I can improve my PB after having had a very thorough look at it.
  26.
  27. Charting will also continue, and once I have the appropriate energy level, yes I will be able to get back on the dance pad. We won't push it too fast, but it's something I'll be capable of doing again once my energy returns, and we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
  28.
  29. So don't worry, once things are good enough for it again, Ace will be back on cam and mic. Things will probably be more or less back to how they were before this whole debacle started, sometime by late June.
  30.
  31. I do want to finish Tales of Berseria.
  32. I do want to play CrossCode; I'm aware it was released while I was hospitalized.
  33. Yes I know Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is out, we'll see if I decide to try that (I am definitely hyped for the release of the main game, Ritual of the Night, though).
  34.
  35. So we've got plans. Just a matter of how much energy I've got each day and what I feel comfortable with putting together on a day-to-day basis until my old energy returns.
