- Oxidation Demediator (Forces 3, Prime 2)
- Phenomenon: Arthur points his ray gun at something, optionally loads a supercapacitor for extra power, and it blows up.
- Action: This device allows Arthur to cause the instantaneous, explosive oxidation of any substance that oxidizes. Oxidizing metals, organic materials, anything that can blow up or catch fire should be a valid target. Also required is an atmosphere containing normal amounts of Oxygen (or similar electron acceptor).
- This effect should do lethal damage to anything caught in the blast, according to the Damage chart on M20 Page 504, plus one for Forces. Damage can be converted to aggravated with a charge of quintessence.
- Theory: This is a more advanced application of Hyperlapine theory. Instead of merely making slight alterations to the natural flow of chemistry in the AEther, instead we are applying strong pressure to the reagents. We forcibly push the AEtheric particles away from the target point, creating a temporary AEtheric vaccuum.
- Much as with the shock wave of a large explosion, the particles are pushed out, and then rebound back in. When the AEtheric particles rebound, they push in the reagents to the point of reaction with force. Bringing the reagents in unnaturally close proximity, with no AEtheric mediation, bypasses the normal activation energies of the reaction. The result is an immediate, explosive reaction unattainable under ordinary AEtheric conditions.
