  1. LSPD FAQs Handbook
  2.
  3. Revised: February 14, 2019
  4.
  5. DISCLAIMER: This document is to be used for certain scenarios that aren’t described within the SOPs. This document is not comprehensive and may not cover all situations. As always, feel free to reach out to a member of the Sr. Staff if you have any questions that aren’t outlined in either document.
  6.
  7.
  8.
  9. 1. Am I able to identify a suspect using just their voice?
  10.
  11. Yes, identifying a suspect via their voice is a completely acceptable form of identification. Keep in mind, if the voice of your suspect is the same but they’re on a different character and their ID does not match, then in this case voice would not be proper identification.
  12. 2. Where are citizens allowed to park in Legion Square?
  13.
  14. Citizens are allowed to park in the designated parking areas, as well as between the red lines on the other side of the street and the parking lot behind the bank.
  15. 3. Am I able to lend out a vehicle to someone of lower rank?
  16.
  17. No, only Sr. Staff (Sgt+) are allowed to “lend” out a vehicle to those of lower rank, and they’re only to lend it out for a specific reason not just because they want to.
  18. 4. I forgot to trash my evidence when I went off duty. What should I do?
  19.
  20. There are a few options for you if you forget to trash evidence when you go off duty. You can approach an on duty officer and let them know you forgot to trash it and pass it off to them. Find a remote location to trash the evidence. Next time you go on duty just trash the evidence when you’re getting your equipment.
  21. 5. Am I allowed to give weapons back to a suspect after they’ve been sent to prison?
  22.
  23. No. If any weapons are seized from a suspect and they go to prison you are not to give them back after they get out. They either pay the fines (if possible) and are able to keep their weapons or they lose them when they go to prison.
  24. 6. When am I allowed to seize a firearm license/driver’s licenses?
  25.
  26. As you know, some charges allow an officer to seize a firearm license. While this is true, a firearm license is to only be seized in the most severe cases; Multiple murders/attempted murders, kidnappings, assaults with a deadly weapon, etc… (Ex. The suspect has shot and downed 3 people, kidnapped another person, and shot at many other people including officers before you catch them.) This also applies to drivers licenses, only seize them in the most severe cases.
  27. 7. Am I able to charge a suspect with speeding even though I didn’t get exactly how fast they were going on my radar?
  28.
  29. Yes, you can charge someone with speeding if you didn’t record their speed on your radar. You are able to use whatever speed you got to when catching up to them. It’s recommended though, since you didn’t actually clock them and don’t know their exact speed, that you charge them with the lesser of the speeding charge(s) as well as go easy on them for fines. (Ex. you got up to 90mph in a 50mph zone to catch up to the suspect. Charge them with Misdemeanor speeding not felony, same with Misdemeanor > Infraction.)
  30. 8. I’m being kidnapped, what steps should I take?
  31.
  32. As stated in the SOPs communicate to the other officers on duty that you’re being kidnapped. Mute and Deafen discord. If your comms are taken before you let other officers know try to let your kidnappers know that you need to communicate with the other officers that you’re being kidnapped, if they don’t they’ll soon have every single officer on duty heading to your location. Try and explain that as best you can. Also remember to stay in character while explaining this to them.
  33. The LSPD’s official stance is we do not pay ransoms, kidnappings are supposed to be used for RP we do not pay because we don’t want kidnappings to become a way for criminals to make money. If a ransom is paid no IA action will be taken but you don’t have to pay a ransom. Either RP it out or fight back.
  34. 9. I’ve been downed, how should I properly communicate this to other officers?
  35.
  36. Just say something along the lines of “Officer down.” Try to add what your location is and if it’s an emergency or not. Don’t need every officer going Code 3 to your position and its because you simply had a vehicle accident and forgot to put your seatbelt on and we’re knocked out because of it. (Ex. Officer down. Elgin Avenue. Non emergency.) If the scene is hostile communicate that it’s hostile but don’t provide any information that would shift the balance. Act like you’re unconscious. You don’t know how many hostiles there are and don’t know their exact GPS positions, so don’t communicate that while you’re down.
  37. 10. I’ve been sitting in the ‘Waiting for Training’ channel for hours and I haven’t been able to get trained. What can I do?
  38.
  39. Patience is key here. The easiest way to get training done is to hop into a police channel when there is a training officer on duty. Wait for the channel to be clear of talking as to not interrupt what is going on and then ask that officer if he/she can train you. Posting in the “Police” text channel is useful as well but those messages sometimes can get lost and not noticed. Try to avoid privately messaging a training officer asking them to train you especially if they’re not in-game. If you’ve tried all this, just be patient, come back later, and try all these steps again.
  40. 11. Am I, as an officer, allowed to use “body-cam” footage for evidence?
  41.
  42. Yes. As an officer of the LSPD if you record you are allowed to go back into your footage and review it for your investigation(s). If your body cam caught someone committing a crime you are allowed to treat it as a direct witness. You can only use your own footage (evidence that was originally seen with your own eyes).
  43. 12. Am I allowed to use my taser/pistol or spikestrips to disable a vehicles tires during a 24/7 robbery
  44.
  45. Yes you are allowed to use either of those methods to disable vehicles. Use your best discretion and do not abuse this. Remember as well that using any of these methods to disable a vehicle is an “advanced maneuver” and is considered hostile initiation.
  46. 13. What are the procedures for a civilian ride along?
  47.
  48. Once a civilian is able to find an officer that is willing to do a ride along that officer must first seek out a Lieutenant and ask them to be approved for a ride along. Once approved, before the ride along starts, that civilian must consent to a search any illegal items are to be seized and the appropriate charges, if any, are to be given to the civilian. During the ride along the civilian is to not leave the officers vehicle. The civilian is not allowed to enter the police discord channels and the ride along shall last no longer than 45 minutes.
  49. 14. As a recruit, if the server(s) has 6 cops on it already. How can I get some training?
  50.
  51. When there are 6 officers on duty, up to two recruits can clock in to fill a 7th and 8th slot for training, as long as there are at least 2 Cpl+ willing to take them and they must ride in the same vehicle. The exception to the limit of 6 officers is exclusive for recruits to receive training, no other officer(s) can get on duty if there are already 6 officers on duty.
  52. 15. Can we use red lights as stop signs?
  53.
  54. Yes, you are allowed to treat red lights as a stop sign providing as you come to a stop, look left & right and continue. No lights or sirens to be used when using this method. Try to minimize the usage of this around other civilians to prevent and unwanted conflict between the department and civilians
