- +fivedoors __ Thank you for going over it again - I very much accept that it isn't easy to catch and can require many careful listens with headphones and a loud volume. For that reason I suspect "3AW" may have tweaked the "s" the second time she said the word (so that there would be a "contradiction" and/or "uncertainty").
- I don't know if the interview was done "live on air" but if it wasn't "live" then all bets are off.
- The following is for anyone having problems catching the word "cars". The second "cars" is really only caught when you can notice that there is another slight sound (very inaudible) she makes just after the "r" (i.e., the word hasn't quite finished "car..s").
- It's not a clean "s" sound like the first time (when you are expecting a loud and clean "s" you will only hear "car") - but there *is* a slight sound (above the background noise) that follows the "r" that completes the word.
- Another way to think of it is that her momentum is to to say "cars" and not "car".
- For me - every now and then I will hear only "car" - but when paying attention I hear "cars". Anyone who is expecting to hear "car" will likely hear "car" until they pay attention to the *slight* sound that follows.
- For what it's worth: it should not be possible to hear "cars" by mere suggestion if she said only "car". I.e., you can talk yourself into hearing a word differently - _but not adding sound to a word._
- To anyone struggling with it - keep playing it on loop (listen to a few seconds prior so you can familiarise yourself with her cadence. Keep listening until you can catch a slight sound after the "r". Take a break and return to it.
- As I say - this event has indications of a news media cover up so if the interview wasn't broadcast live it is possible that professionals have tinkered with just that "s". (The audio in general is compressed so softening and ruining the second "s" in "cars" would not arouse suspicion etc.)
- Once you can hear it - you'll be able to hear it again - and again - and it becomes much easier to notice. Just don't expect it to be easy!
