  1. **Fanon field notes:**
  2.
  3. One test was enough. It was all the data that the Eternal needed to prove that they gotta get this thing everywhere. Most of the pilots agree. Of course, Shinn and Luna wanted it for themselves and the Strike Impulse but eventually reverted to the Force Silhouette after Luna also G-LOC'd (she did say she wanted to fly the Destiny Silhouette on its own, though and has been begging me to give her Wolfsbane rifles too -- "don't worry, I got something better in mind). As for the rest:
  4.
  5. * Garrod, after Tiffa picked up his jaw, also wanted in on the action after seeing just how quickly the Wolfsbanes can vaporize larger targets. He and Pala went on a mission. When he came back, he looked exhausted. "Sens is too high and there's so much more Pala and I need to do just to keep up." Nearly G-LOC'd, too, if it wasn't for the fact that they moved way slower.
  6.
  7. * The rest of the SEED peeps are beside themselves. Some of the older pilots, like La Flaga, Neo and Andrew Waltfeld, had nothing but praise for its power (though Waltfeld also felt it was too fast for him to handle). Stella Loussier managed to keep up with Shinn better than Luna, and thought the whole mobile suit became "a different beast". Asagi, Sai, Juri and Mayura were wide-eyed while they ran wargames with La Flaga, with Sai telling me "it's as if Mu's just uncorked out there". Yzak, Dearka and Heine were also at a loss.
  8.
  9. * Frankly, the only other people who weren't impressed -- even when Kira was piloting the Destiny Strike -- were the Sahakus, both of whom were more or less keeping up with their Gold Frames despite Kira being, you know, himself (he somehow over-G'd it more than I did! Good gravy).
  10.
  11. * Another person who had a more lukewarm reception is Heero Yuy, though I can't blame him as his Wing Zero does just as good a job in general. That said, he did say that he respected how the Destiny Silhouette enabled some unreal manoeuvres: "not even Trowa can do it if he tried it on the Heavyarms," he said. Also, he kinda pilfered the Destiny wing mount to try fitting his buster rifles in, and I gotta say, it still works as usual.
  12.
  13. * Most of the IBO contingent also has a mixed reception, though that's probably because half of them had to fight a dialled-in Rindo and Mudie Holcroft. Yes, yes, beam resistance is high, but Lafter found herself at the business end more times than not, leading to some salt among the Turbines because it's hard to deal with a suit that has Phase-shift Armor as it is. Norba, on the other hand, loves piloting it, and, uh, got a bit addicted to the Destiny Silhouette that, besides RIndo and Kira, he's used it more times than I did. Insane. Mika, as usual, reacted the way you'd expect after looking into the data.
  14.
  15. * The Dylandys are split, bordering on positive. Neil can't imagine moving that quickly laterally because it's just not his style at all but is impressed at how well the guns held up to the G's while still retaining accuracy. Lyle thinks it's just down to Rindo and Kira being that good. "BUt not gonna lie to ya" I'd hate to see that coming after me," he remarked. Both of them had a good impression overall, and a Lockn seal of approval is good enough for me.
  16.
  17. * Amuro, at least, is a bit more receptive to the general feel of the Silhouette's power. "It's fast and agile enough to interdict, but it's also just as viable as an artillery unit," he said, adding that the whole package "didn't feel too sensitive that it was gonna be hard to control." The oldtypes could only snicker ("Duh, you're a Newtype"), but in fairness, Johnny Ridden was keeping up with a slap-dash Zeta tester so who can say? Same with Banagher, who was on a Zeta C1 and was basically at the limit throughout his duel with Amuro (this was also the only recorded beam struggle of the whole week).
  18.
  19. * Finally, Rindo, not one to just gush over anything, has nothing but praise for the Destiny Silhouette. "It felt like nothing could stop me," she said, finding it easy to "simply pull back and shoot from almost BVR," and the coherence of the beams themselves means that the guns "can slice equally as well as it can pierce through, letting me think of unique tactics." "It's so much faster, too -- certainly leagues beyond what anything short of the Strike Freedom's package could do, but without the handling and control issues that come with having a solar sail on your back." She's taken to calling it an "active standoff weapon package" -- its keep-put game is so strong, and the moment it's kill shot time, it will end the fight.
