  2. 1. During a round of Ninja, you are faxed by Station Command inquiring about an “inspector” who claims to have been sent by the company to evaluate each of the station's departments. How do you respond, and why?
  3.
  4. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 12:57 PM
  5. Can I ask questions to get extra information or just the prompt?
  6.
  7. CaelphonToday at 12:57 PM
  8. You may.
  9.
  10. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 12:58 PM
  11. Is this the first hour of the round or like later?
  12. [12:59 PM]
  13. Because if it's earlier the answer will change a bit lol.
  14.
  15. CaelphonToday at 12:59 PM
  16. We'll say that its 00:23 minutes into the round.
  17.
  18. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 1:02 PM
  19. Ah alright. In this case I will fax back and say that: Due to a current network issue it will take upwards of 40 minutes to confirm if the NSS Aurora is due for a inspection today. For the time being you are to allow them to continue the inspection. Command is however free to deny requests regarding access to sensitive areas such as the Vault.
  20.
  21. CaelphonToday at 1:03 PM
  22. Understood. Next question.
  23. [1:03 PM]
  24. 2. During a round of Crossfire, you are faxed by Station Command about a team of mercenaries who have reported a band of pirates operating in the area. They wish to offer their services to the station as additional security. Command is asking you for your advice on the situation. How do you respond, and why?
  25.
  26. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 1:08 PM
  27. (Apologies if my grammar becomes a bit worse my laptop decided it would crash on me for some reason so I'm on my phone) I would fax back informing them: That Nanotrasen is currently unable to prove the claims of pirates in the sector but would inform command if they believe the pirate claims are true and the on board ISD is incapable of resolving the situation then they can pay for the mercenary teams services using the on board budget. I would then inform the command staff that they are liable for any damages these mercenaries might cause whilst on board. I'd do this so the command staff still has a reason to keep an eye on them whilst also not just completly shutting down the merc gimmick
  28.
  29. CaelphonToday at 1:09 PM
  30. Okay, next question.
  31. [1:10 PM]
  32. 3. You receive an Emergency Broadcast System message from the station’s Artificial Intelligence. It claims that there is an emergency situation, and requests an immediate ERT deployment. How do you respond?
  33.
  34. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 1:10 PM
  35. Hmm alright. Can central command send messages directly back to an AI?
  36.
  37. CaelphonToday at 1:11 PM
  38. Yes, they can.
  39.
  40. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 1:18 PM
  41. Right. Two ways. If the command manifest has one or no members of command I would tell the AI to please send a message detailing the exact situation and to inform any non-incapacitated members of staff to fax a status update ASAP. If the command manifest has two or more members. I would ask the AI to remind them they have the capability to swipe for an ERT or if one is incapacitated to send a fax to central command explaining the situation. If this cannot be done because all members of command staff are incapacitated to please send a return message detailing the exact situation.(edited)
  42.
  43. CaelphonToday at 1:20 PM
  44. You get a message back, saying that one of the two Command members has been killed by an unknown force. They are incapable of calling an ERT. The AI requests an ERT yet again. How do you respond, and why?
  45.
  46. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 1:20 PM
  47. Right. Did the AI specify which command members?
  48.
  49. CaelphonToday at 1:21 PM
  50. No, just that one of them was killed.
  51.
  52. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 1:24 PM
  53. I see. I would fax both command members (Well both the offices anyway) informing them central command has received an ERT request from the AI due to the incapacitation of a command member. I would ask them for a situation report ASAP. I do this because deploying an ERT without proper buildup and effort can really break the flow of a round and the idea of an AI malfunctioning and sending a faulty request isn't totally impossible .(edited)
  54.
  55. CaelphonToday at 1:24 PM
  56. Malf is an automatic disabling of CCIA. So you shouldn't worry about that.
  57. [1:25 PM]
  58. But, lets head to the next question.
  59. [1:25 PM]
  60. 4. In your opinion, how much of a role should Central Command play in the affairs of the station? When is it appropriate for them to directly intervene, and how much should they attempt to shape the round when they do?(edited)
  61.
  62. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 1:31 PM
  63. Ah right I see. I believe central command should be a background presence to help build a world that feels alive but not interfere directly unless requested. If they are requested you should try keep the involvement minimal but still helpful. For instance don't jump straight into "ERT Time". It can often feel cheap if CCIA shapes the round too much. You're not the ones on the station after-all
  64. [1:32 PM]
  65. But their presence when done right really adds a little bit of spice that can make the round better.(edited)
  66.
  67. CaelphonToday at 1:33 PM
  68. Okay, next question.
  69. [1:33 PM]
  70. 5. What do you believe is the purpose of the Incident Report system?
  71.
  72. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 1:39 PM
  73. Right. I believe the purpose of the incident report system is to provide a sense of realism that actions in game exist outside of a bubble and secondly to provide a stop gap between moderators and in character issues as well as allowing troublesome characters to change in universe. For instance looking over prior Incident Reports without an IR system in place many of those would have had to be solved OOC between a player and moderator that would no doubt result in warnings, job bans etc. This allows a character to still face consequences for their actions but at the same time gives them a chance in character to reflect and change for the better providing all sorts of role-play opportunity that a simple moderator action can't. It also helps promote a sense a immersion within the universe as a whole.
  74.
  75. CaelphonToday at 1:40 PM
  76. Okay good.
  77. [1:40 PM]
  78. 6. In resolving an Incident Report, when should a character receive significant disciplinary action (such as a demotion), as opposed to a lighter response such as a warning or retraining? Under what circumstances would you consider terminating a character's employment?
  79.
  80. Connorjg1/TeslinToday at 1:44 PM
  81. Right. A significant action such as Termination would have to rely on a whole number of factors E.G: Has this happened before, how many warnings do they have already, how many other CCIA action's against them etc. Even if an IR against them is rather major if it's their first one Termination is extreme as it provides no chance for growth or Roleplay. Also OOC having a character be terminated would really suck I imagine doubly so if you like them and have spent time to build them up. So basically it should only be given for constant repeat offenders or an action so egregious (Like murdering 4 people in extended) you can't possibly let them go back to work again.(edited)
  82.
  83. CaelphonToday at 1:47 PM
  84. Right.
  85. [1:48 PM]
  86. That concludes the interview!
