  1. Tempo, a Surreal Disturbance film
  2.
  3. Scene X
  4.
  5. [Fade in on kitchen interior. Diana is making fried eggs. Enter James]
  6.
  7. DIANA: [Without turning to face the camera or James] Good morning, son.
  8.
  9. [Close shot of James' head and shoulders]
  10.
  11. JAMES: Hey.
  12.
  13. [Cut score, introduce white noise, stay on shot of James for several seconds before cutting to a wider shot from the same angle. Diana is not in frame]
  14.
  15. DIANA: I was just about to make breakfast. How do you want your eggs?
  16.
  17. [Cut to Diana's warmly smiling face for a split second immediately after her line is over. Wide shot of the room as James sits down at the table]
  18.
  19. JAMES: Uh, scrambled, thanks.
  20.
  21. DIANA: Anything for my boy! [Begins scrambling eggs]
  22.
  23. [We sit on a wide shot of the entire scene that is shot on grainy film with no soundtrack for several more seconds. In this shot James picks up a carton of milk. We then cut in to a closer shot of James as he begins to pour himself a drink from the carton of orange juice. Cut to Diana making fried eggs]
  24.
  25. DIANA: How's your science project going.
  26.
  27. [Cut to James. He is still pouring orange juice, and it is overflowing onto the table]
  28.
  29. JAMES: I don't know if it's gonna be done in time for the fair. I need Mary to do her part.
  30.
  31. [Cut to Diana]
  32.
  33. DIANA: Oh, you and that girl.
  34.
  35. [Cut to James. The carton empties with the glass almost full of orange juice]
  36.
  37. JAMES: [Spoken as if really badly acted to be an overly-petulant teenager] Mom, there's nothing between me and Mary!
  38.
  39. [Wide shot of the kitchen. James takes a sip from his nearly-empty glass of orange juice. Outside the window there is a man in a gorilla costume standing perfectly still, staring at the camera]
  40.
  41. DIANA: Oh, nonsense, you two have been sweet on each other since you were five. I don't know why you haven't done anything about it.
  42.
  43. JAMES: We're really just friends. That's all.
  44.
  45. DIANA: If you say so, sweetie.
  46.
  47. [Closer shot of Johnny sat at the table, lost in thought. His glass is once again full of orange juice, but it's a different glass entirely. He goes to rub the back of his neck and his elbow knocks over the orange juice carton. He watches the orange juice pour out on to the floor]
  48.
  49. [Cut to a shot of the orange juice pouring out on to the floor]
  50.
  51. [Wide shot of Diana bringing James his breakfast. The plate is empty and there is no orange juice on the floor]
  52.
  53. DIANA: Here you go, son.
  54.
  55. [Overhead shot of the table in front of James with the gain on the mics turned way up. After several seconds Diana leans into shot and very deliberately places a plate full of scrambled eggs heavily on the table]
  56.
  57. [Two shot, followed by a smash zoom in on James' face]
  58.
  59. JAMES: Mom what the fuck is this I wanted fried eggs.
  60.
  61. [Cut straight back to the same two shot]
  62.
  63. DIANA: Oh, I'm sorry dear, let me fix that. [Picks up plate]
  64.
  65. [Whip-pan montage of Diana preparing fried eggs]
  66.
  67. [Diana places a plate full of scrambled eggs in front of James]
  68.
  69. DIANA: There you go, dear.
  70.
  71. [James glares at Diana for several seconds before picking up a fork]
  72.
  73. JAMES: THANK you.
  74.
  75. [Full shot of kitchen as James and Molly begin to eat breakfast]
