If you give a boy's name first. he then asks your "sister" her name. if you give a girl's name first. in then asks your "brother" his name (the protags' default names are Marcus and Mavis). Prof. Palm walks out of a room saying he's just finished shooting a movie of his own. He introduces himself and says he studies Pokemon teamwork (how well two or more Pokemon work together). His lab is right next door to the studio. Prof. Palm tells your parents that "He reasons that Marcus and Mavis would rather become Pokemon Trainers". He asks you whether you want to be in the movie or if you want a Pokemon. if you say you want to be in the movie, he tells you to come by his lab after the movie shoot. If you say you want a Pokemon, he takes you to his lab immediately. either way you get a Pokemon from his lab. The starters are Greenhorn (grass/steel), Serpyro (fire), and Startrout (water).
  12.
  13. Marcus tells Mavis to choose her starter first ("ladies first", he says). after both protags have their starters, Prof. Palm gives them Pokedexes and sends them on their way.
  14.
  15. there's another scientist in the Lab who offers to switch the game to "Rival Mode" for you. the first time he switches it to "Rival Mode" he asks you your gender, then you play as that protag and your brother/sister becomes your rival and runs separate from you. if you talk to the scientist again, he will switch the game back to "Sibling Mode".
  16.
  17. after you leave the lab, you go to Marcus and Mavis's house and talk to your parents. they explain Pokemon Centers and Pokemon Marts (there's one of each in Showgo. the Poke Mart is a Dept. Store). they give you $6000 and tell you to head south to Angelic City. as you head downhill (Showgo is on top of a hill) you see two Team Glamour Grunts near the big SHOWGO TOWN sign on the side of the hill. they chat amongst them selves and then walk away.

Golf rounds increase HP EVs. in addition to EVs, there's an heart meter for the Rollout mon that fills up as you play one of the 6 sports. maxxing it out raises the mon one heart rank. At a rank of 2 or more hearts, an Eevee evolves into Sylveon if it levels up while knowing a fairy-type move. you can also increase the heart meter by giving your pokemon drinks while playing sports.

From here, you can head to either city and get it's Badge. The Gadget Badge is listed fist in your badge case, so you typically wanna go after it first (the badge case has the names of all 8 badges already listed). There are four: Wrestler John, Wrestler Daniel, Wrestler Hunter, and Wrestler Stephanie. when you defeat all 4, a fifth Wrestler trainer, Vince, appears and challenges you.
