  1. Agrien has led the duo down through the main road of the inner walls, across the gate and to the market square, taking a single turn to the east as she approached her own so called company workshop.
  2.
  3. Truth be told that was a fairly large building indeed for just a living, and Agrien used it for her own work as well. The so called emerging class of the bourgoise managed to differentiate themselves from the large noble estates but also from the simpler housing of Sudbury as well.
  4.
  5. "Please come in, it's just upstairs." she explained as they'd pass a large main hall. The carpet and a few staff members, mostly errand boys were moving with some documents and small packages to load some goods from the place's storage to the market, but none of that interested them much; only when they moved upstairs into her personal workshop was it that Agrien stopped.
  6.
  7. "You should have all you need to take a look into their hand here, Nerin," the girl motioned at her workbench, sporting more vials of chemicals and other instruments people barely could know of than she could care to name. More than likely an alchemy's lab. The other end of the workshop had the tools of an armorer and smith, with a couple of boxes filled with cured leather and other things.
  8.
  9. By the far end of the workshop, a neatly placed shelf with books and other ingredients, and a bed. Agrien would like to deny it, but she spent more time here than on her own bedroom, to the point she brought a bed here as well.
  10.
  11. "I'll find you both some chairs, give me one moment please."
  12. (Agrien Vandroy)
  13.
  14. It's a fairly interesting place.
  15.
  16. One that he eyes with an almost starry-eyed wonder; even if Nerin was interacting with so many people and things on daily basis, there were still many things that genuinely inspired surprise and wonder in him. Usually, such large workshops were precisely the thing that has done so, for he was always interested in crafts of different kind.
  17.
  18. His own being a craft of bodies.
  19.
  20. "Sure, sure." He idly comments to the proposition to come upstairs, the eyes of youth bouncing around as he eyes his surroundings. He was only used to seeing so many in noble Houses, but.. it would seem that her company is actually going relatively good. That's fairly neat.
  21.
  22. "And that's excellent. I'll get to it, then."
  23.
  24. Just a moment passes before Nerin begins pacing around the place. In particular, he grabs medical sewing needle, should he need stitches, as well as the relevant thread; he also takes a bottle of hydrogen peroxide for sanitary purposes, a pad and few bandages. It was the wounded knuckles, wasn't it?
  25.
  26. If there's a fracture within, that's something his magic could take care of.
  27.
  28. "Well then--"
  29.
  30. "Show your wound and we'll get it." He speaks out to Id.
  31. (Nerin)
  32.
  33. The masked individual seems just as interested in their surroundings as Nerin himself, looking around as they take in the well-constructed house. Of course, this was someone who didn't even have a bed to sleep in, but they didn't need to know that too. They turn towards Nerin as he addresses them and speaks of showing the wounds and... the figure seems to fidget for a short period, before extending their hands out of their cloak.
  34.
  35. They begin unwrapping their bandages which are well-wrapped to the point of concealing all bits of flesh, period. As many, many lengths of bindings fell to the floor alongside a couple of tiny pieces of rock, one could realize that this person's skin tone was fair but they would also see the faded, likely many years old, slicing wound scars along the back of their hands and just above their wrists before the next section of arm bandages start.
  36.
  37. The cloaked figure seems neither intent on removing the cloak nor the mask, nor do they seem like they will roll their sleeves up to allow examination of the other bandages.
  38.
  39. One can tell, though, just from a glimpse...
  40.
  41. Their hands are bruised heavily along the knuckles and fronts of the fingers, semi-fresh scrapes which had been bleeding line the non-bruised flesh.
  42.
  43. They had been punching stone, all of the evidence said this, but that would also mean that they should have far more serious injuries. Nerin could examine the fair-skinned hands for fractures, but he'd find none, their bones were pristine.
  44.
  45. Whoever this was seems to have an extremist pugilism routine.
  46. (Id)
  47.
  48. Following Id unwrapping the numerous bandages to reveal the wounds, Nerin took a look closer. Heavy, bleeding bruises.. it didn't seem as if stitching was actually needed, thankfully. Though, instead, this would require appliance of solution in order to soften the pain coming from bruises, that much could be done.
  49.
  50. While at it, Nerin takes a pair of fitting gloves; not oriented for craftmanship, of course, but the medical gloves one would see on a medicine worker. Can't have the potential spread around.
  51.
  52. "Alright. Keep your hands out for a bit."
  53.
  54. It's not too long until Nerin searches about for the said solution and returns back to Id; a gentle grasp is taken over his hand, and the hydrogen oxide is carefully poured onto cotton swabs- afterward, they're gently pressed against the places covered in blood, both to disinfect and clear it out, which follows with a silent sound.
  55.
  56. Hissssss…
  57.
  58. The hydrogen oxide burns slightly, of course, but it's tolerable; the pain only lasts for a few, and before getting any further, he gently presses onto Id's knuckles, as if feeling out any peculiar bumps or anything unnatural. Perhaps, Nerin is expecting his bone structure for any fractures or broken parts.
  59.
  60. "Do you feel any sudden and sharp, or dull and lasting pain inside your hand?"
  61.
  62. An important question before proceeding, of course. Can't make an error here.
  63. (Nerin)
  64.
  65. Although Agrien knew all too well she had a better building than most, working as a small company and a comfortable place to be, she had little to no intention on showing that off. She was simply genuinely concerned about that cloaked figure, more than anything else.
  66.
  67. "Here, here." she said as she came back with a chair, at least so the wounded person could take a seat. It was just by the time she came back which she could take a look at their hand. Now more properly than while back at the park. Small signs of rocks came along the bandages, hinting something altogether as Agrien could notice while she positioned herself by the desk to make herself useful.
  68.
  69. "This looks bad," she commented on the state of their hands, even if she never really seen what a really bad wound looked like. "You must have seen some rough times. You don't really have to tell us about it, though. I won't have to lie or hide something I don't know. But you should consider your choice for clothes." the girl commented as she kept a watch on what Nerin would be doing. "There was an attack at the castle made by people dressed like you are. I'm surprised none of the knights or the City Watch stopped by you at the park."
  70.
  71. As she explained, Agrien quirked a brow again at their hand, and the small signs of stone falling to the ground. An idea occurred her as she observed the treatment, but even then, it could be just a far-fetched idea.
  72.
  73. "My guess is that you've been fighting someone who took that solution." she said as she turned, going through her own manual of alchemy to remember it's name, but giving up midway though. "It hardens a person's skin as much as stone itself."
  74. (Agrien Vandroy)
  75.
  76. This actually did look similar to his own training regime- albeit, he had actual people to practice with when it comes to punching things. Unarmed combatant, then.. or so he figured at least.
  77.
  78. "It's not that bad, thankfully- I thought I'd need stitches for his ruptured skin, but it seems like the majority of it is deep-tissue bruise. That'll need solution applied on it and maybe cream to soothe the flesh."
  79.
  80. Bruising, after all, was internal hemorrhage, and no stitches can help with that. Instead, one ought to stimulate the body to recover at its own pace; though, as Agrien asks different questions, he asks none aside of those related to medical work.
  81.
  82. Those that are important to treating him.
  83.
  84. "--I'm also surprised nobody detained you."
  85.
  86. "You should consider changing your clothes and attire in general. It could raise wrong questions and assumptions about you."
  87. (Nerin)
  88.
  89. The figure doesn't take a seat, opting to remaining standing to receive treatment. They don't seem to think their injuries are anything unusual or threatening, which is very obvious with how they act towards them. The disinfectant is applied to their scrapes, but there's no jerk. Nerin's physical contact with the injure hands is the thing that seems to concern the person the most, they shift uneasily.
  90.
  91. The mask turns towards Agrien, then shakes side to side multiple times, as if trying to signal multiple 'no's. The masked person would not take off their mask or cloak, nor were they fighting anyone, but if that was the case... It was just a case of training to the point of self harm. Why would someone do that?
  92.
  93. But, the more important issue is, very likely, their refusal to remove the cloak and mask. They recall what the last Constable that had actually spoken to them had said, it was a reassurance, but it also held implications thatthey wouldn't get much of a chance should they break the law for whatever reason.
  94.
  95. The assumptions had been made already, but the shrouded figure didn't mind them. When Nerin leaves the hands alone long enough, the person pulls out a fresh roll of linen and begins bandaging them again in preparation to hide them away, much like their actual appearance, though luckily none had ever seen them.
  96. (Id)
  97.
  98. Feeling not much threatening pattern in the injury that he's treating, in particular, the lack of any bumps or signature that the bones may be indeed broken in any severe way, he simply nods once in return- he wasn't looking to pry into someone's business if they were unwilling to speak much on it. After all, everyone has their own secrets.
  99.
  100. "Let's get to treating it proper."
  101.
  102. With that, the solution and gel are steadily applied onto thin pad, made to soothe the flesh and help the recovery against bruises, even if they were to be severe; he carefully placed that all around Id's hands in a wrap, one for each- the touch of cream and solution, unlike that of hydrogen oxide, actually feels... pleasant.
  103.
  104. Like a gentle, cold breeze against his hands.
  105.
  106. "Let me know if something hurts."
  107.
  108. Even if he didn't feel anything that might be threatening, he was still on the watch, steadily laying down the pads necessary to ensure that his hands would heal well. If only then, he begins to steadily wrap the bandages around his hands, carefully paying attention to how it's wrapped - all to obstruct him as less as possible.
  109.
  110. He's sure he'd run off to do some more training anyhow.
  111.
  112. "Almost done."
  113. (Nerin)
  114.
  115. The way Nerin conducted the treatment was something quite new to Agrien; but then again the ginger has never witnessed medical treatment being administered in detail. Luckily though that wasn't very serious either, according to Nerin.
  116.
  117. "I see..." she nodded at the shake of the masked one's head, understanding as much as that being a negation to what she just supposed. With the closing of her alchemical manual, the girl rested it back on the small pile over her desk to keep seeing what they were doing at that hand.
  118.
  119. The pieces weren't coming together to Agrien, though. That was someone very strange, from clothes to behavior, to wound and every thing else. It was truly almost like that wasn't a person, but some kind of entity.
  120.
  121. "Either way you're in capable hands now, and that's what matters. I...Don't know how you wounded yourself," she admittedly didn't know much of how combatants could get those wounds other than by straight up punching something. But given the state their hand was in, she simply didn't imagine they did it by practicing and punching, almost as if with the intent of taking it to that point. "But we'll see it through. You might consider wearing gloves, though. Kuuckle gauntlets are popular amongst some of the street fighters from Sudbury, I suppose they're meant to prevent this kind of result while fighting with your bare hands."
  122. (Agrien Vandroy)
  123.
  124. Amidst the treatment offered to Id, he squinted and turned his head to Agrien, who didn't seem very convinced that it wasn't so serious; a simple smile curled towards her, soon to exclaim.
  125.
  126. "It doesn't seem like he fractured his knuckles."
  127.
  128. "I'll have to admit that I managed to injure myself somehow in the past by doing similar practice. Whenever magi tend to learn how to fight with their bare fists, such incidents happen - and I shattered my knuckles as result. That's when Bone magic actually came handy."
  129.
  130. "But, hm.."
  131.
  132. A brief moment of contemplation passes, and he nods along to Agrien's words; it's a suggestion that Nerin heard before too. Not just to protect himself, but to conceal something he's been not very keen of showing off. His roughened, calloused hands, not fitting for someone so young.
  133.
  134. "Gloves would do you good."
  135. (Nerin)
  136.
  137. They allow the further treatment of their hands. Their lack of vocalization continues, it's probable they can't even speak, but the mask shifts between Agrien and Nerin. The mask settles on Nerin and shifts to the side questioningly on this mention of Bone Magic. They were curious, but they couldn't pry.
  138.
  139. Gloves, huh? They could do that, yes, but they wouldn't be able to easily. There wasn't a merchant they could buy them from, and they didn't have the coin either, really. The figure doesn't seem to change with the application of more drugs to their hands, but they find it easier to flex their fingers.
  140.
  141. Thankfully, the 'doctor' was wearing gloves so he couldn't tell the texture of the hands he was holding, otherwise there may be questions to be had on both sides.
  142. (Id)
  143.
  144. Eventually, the treatment comes to an end.
  145.
  146. With the pads secured underneath bandages, and the said bandages neatly wrapped up, there's no doubt that he would recover a lot faster from whatever ails him; squinting once at it to make sure that he's actually done it right, he looks up to Id.
  147.
  148. "All is set. You should be good to go."
  149.
  150. "Although, do try to give your hands at least some time before you go out and punch stones or something like that. Or at least wear gloves.. lest this treatment will be for practically nothing."
  151.
  152. You can't exactly hope to recover from something if you keep pressing the issue into being damaged again. There's only so much someone's body can endure, even if it's patched up, before it would give in to the injuries - and it'd not only be work wasted, but also fairly unfortunate in general.
  153.
  154. "Stay safe out there."
  155. (Nerin)
