  1. It happened again, didn’t it? Dammit, I should’ve known I was standing up too long. Alright, let’s see…where am I? Oh, the cafeteria. Smaller crowd around than last time. Shouldn’t surprise me, I figure they’d be used to it by now. At least someone got used to it. What’s wet on my chest? Oh great, I spilled my soup on me. Again. Guess I’ll have to change. Where’s Mi-oh, she’s right here. Thanks, hun.
  2. “How long was I out this time?”
  3. “A minute.”
  4. A minute? That doesn’t seem right. I go out for like 30 minutes at a time. But they’ve been getting shorter and more frequent.
  5. “Stop pouting, girl. Makes your face all ugly wrinkly.”
  6. “Fine, Miki, what would you rather I do? Grin it away wearing facepaint?”
  7. “Whatever floats your boat, ya weirdo.”
  8. I’ll give her one of my trademark cheesy grins. That usually disarms her.
  9. “Want me to help you back to the dorm?”
  10. “Yes please.”
  11. Ok, that was over the top, even for me. Miki’s helpless to my meek voice.
  12. “Thank god, I wanted to get out of math.”
  13. A very Miura statement if ever I heard one. I know she cares, though. Maybe one day, she’ll be able to say how she feels without being so nonchalant passive aggressive about it. God, why do people keep staring at me in the hallway? Haven’t they seen soup on a girl’s shirt before? Assholes. Maybe the sun will help it dry off.
  14. “What is this, like the third time this week, Suze?”
  15. Gee, thanks for reminding me, Miki. It’s not like I’m self-conscious about it or anything.
  16. “You’ve been counting?”
  17. “No. Because that’s math.”
  18. “Math isn’t so bad, Miki. It could help make you a better runner.”
  19. “Bullshit. How?”
  20. “Organizing your training schedule effectively, using your body to its best potential…”
  21. “That’s science, not math, dumbass.”
  22. “A good part of science is math.”
  23. “Shit, are you serious?”
  24. What? Hold up.
  25. “Our homeroom teacher is a science teacher and you don’t know that there’s a lot of math in science?”
  26. “Who ever said I paid attention?”
  27. “Touché.”
  28. We’re at the dorms already? Might as well have been sleepwalking. Barely even felt time pass. Thank god we’re on the first floor. My damn knee won’t let me walk any steps and the elevator’s still out. Poor Ibarazaki. She has to use the steps every day. That’s gotta hu-
  29. Oh no, not again. I’ve had this dream before. People always asked me if I had more dreams because of my condition. They’re not dreams. They’re hallucinations. Let’s see how it goes. At least I can test my lucid dreaming skills.
  30. Setting…I’m at school. How boring. Oh look at that, turns out I’m naked in school. I’ve had this dream so many times, I honestly don’t care anymore. There’s Ibarazaki, Hakamichi, Mikado. They’re going to tell me to stop. Whatever, it’s not like I can control it. Oh, here comes Miki. Wonder what “she” has to say about this.
  31. “SNOOZU! THIS ISN’T A DREAM!”
  32. What? That’s new.
  33. “What are you doing?”
  34. “Are you sure this isn’t a dream, Mik?”
  35. “It’s not a dream.”
  36. “Prove it.”
  37. She doesn’t know how to respond. Figures. Dumb dreampeople. They ne-
  38. Oh.
  39. Oh my. That’s um…quite a kiss. Oh god I’m blushing so hard…
  40. Wait. This ISN’T a dream.
  41. I really AM naked in sch-
  42. “HIDEME!”
  43. “It’s ok, Suzu…I’ll take you to the Nurse. He’ll help you.”
  44. “Miki?”
  45. “Yeah?”
  46. “Th-thanks.”
  47. “Thank me when we get there, Suze.”
  48. The walk to the Nurse couldn’t have taken any longer. He at least gives me a gown to wear for the time being.
  49. “This is the first time this has happened, Suzuki?”
  50. “Yes.”
  51. “How’ve you been sleeping?”
  52. “That some kind of crack?” I wouldn’t put it past him.
  53. “I wish it were. How are you sleeping?”
  54. “The episodes…they’ve been getting more frequent, shorter.”
  55. “How long ago did this start?”
  56. “Three weeks.”
  57. That’s a new look. He actually looks concerned. What, he never uses that phone. Who is he calling?
  58. “…mhm, yes, thank you.”
  59. “What’s going on, nurse?”
  60. “Dr. Miyaki is coming, Suzu. He’s going to ask you some questions, and I think it’d be in your best interest to answer them honestly.”
  61. Miyaki? The shrink?
  62. “I’m not crazy, nurse.”
  63. “I didn’t say you were crazy, Suzu. He’s only here to help.”
  64. “You don’t believe me.”
  65. “I do believe you. I just want to help you.”
