- • Installed IntelliJ IDEA
- • Tried “File” → “New Project”
- • Get a wizard with 4 unnecessary steps
- • “Project JDK” box empty, cannot compile or run anything
- • Tried to continue without JDK. Couldn’t find anywhere to enter any Java source code! WTF!
- • Installed JDK
- • IntelliJ then took frickin’ ages for some “indexing” operation
- • Still can’t find anywhere to enter any Java source code!
- Comparison VS:
- • “File” → “New” → “Project”
- • Get *one* dialog. Select “Console Application” and click OK
- • Get a fully-working project set up and a source file opened. Immediately start writing code.
- THIS DOES NOT MAKE ANY STATEMENT ABOUT INTELLIJ AS A WHOLE.
- This makes a statement about the FIRST IMPRESSION. (The most important.)
