  2.
  3. Chapter One "Of Beds And Handcuffs"
  4.
  5. Include Epistemology by Eric Eve.
  6.
  7. Understand "talk to [someone]" as talking to. Understand "talk to [something]" as talking to. Talking to is an action applying to one visible thing.
  8. Understand "use [someone]" as using. Understand "use [something]" as using. Using is an action applying to one thing.
  9.
  10. Handcuff Aware is a number that varies.
  11.
  12. A Bed is a kind of container.
  13.
  14. [ "DBed" rather than "Double Bed" to reduce the chance of namespace collisions. Probably not needed, but I'm still finding my way with this language. ]
  15.
  16. A DBed is a kind of Bed. The printed name of a DBed is "a double bed". A DBed is enterable, transparent, open, not openable and fixed in place.
  17.

  19. say "An old brass bed frame with a bare mattress, stained with such substances as you'd prefer not to contemplate."
  20.
  21. Instead of examining a DBed the second time:
  22. say "Closer inspection reveals a pair of handcuffs fastened to the bedstead head. The other end of the handcuffs is open, ready to be fastened around an unwary wrist.";
  23. if the the bed contains the player:
  24. say "You remove yourself from the bed with impressive speed.";
  25. try exiting;
  26. now Handcuff Aware is 1;
  27.
  28. Instead of examining a DBed when Handcuff Aware > 0:
  29. say "Double bed. Stained matress. Pair of handcuffs. Right."
  30.
  31. Instead of entering a DBed when Handcuff Aware > 0:
  32. say "You eye the handcuffs and decide that you're happy where you are."
  33.
  34.
  35. A Club Bedroom is a kind of room. "This is a small room. It contains a double bed leaving room for precious little else." A DBed is in every Club Bedroom. Understand "bed" as the DBed. Understand "double bed" as the DBed.
  36.
  37. A bitch is a kind of woman.
  38.
  39.
  40. [ I want the prologue to finish when the player has looked at everything important in the Doghouse. That means he's seen the cuffs in the
  41. club bedrooms, the cell beds, the master bedroom, and the control room. Sounds like we need a decide rule. ]
  42.
  43. Prologue is a scene. Prologue begins when play begins. Prologue ends when a bitch is in Cell One.
  44. First Training is a scene. First Training begins when Prologue ends.
  45.
  46.
  47. Chapter Two "A Tour Of The Doghouse"
  48.
  49. when Prologue begins:

  51. say paragraph break;
  52. say "Now never let it be said that you are afraid of Cousin Vinny. Indeed, there are very few people on the planet who would find in Vinny a figure of intimidation. Nevertheless, Vin is in tight with a number of other people who are widely considered to be plenty scary.";
  53. say paragraph break;
  54. say "For this reason, it seems wise to move your ass as directed.";
  55.
  56.
  57. Lobby is a room. "A small entrance lobby to what looks like a night club. The decor is fairly spartan - bare brickwork concrete floors. It is north of the Lobby and south of Harbour Lane. The double door is a door and scenery and locked. The double door is east of the Lobby and northwest of The Doghouse.

Understand "Bud" as Einstein;
  68. Instead of using Einstein:
  69. say "'Boss, youse is embarasing me.'"
  70.

  78. now sequence is 2;
  79. -- 2:
  80. say "'I got this great plan to make money, see?' Vinny continues. 'Only certain people, they ain't got no paitence, and now I gotta go travel abroad on account of my health. So I'm gonna leave you in charge of the operation.'";
  81. now sequence is 3;
  82. -- 3:
  83. say "'Now, everything is set up already. You get your first delivery later today. The facilities here are not so good as I might have liked, but they are neverthless sufficiently good that even a fat head like you will find it difficult to fuck things up'";
  84. now sequence is 4;
  85. -- 4:
  86. say "'Furthermore, the unfuckupable nature of the operation is a good thing. Since if by some aberration of the laws of nature, you should find a way to nevertheless fuck things up, you will be making many people deeply unhappy. Neither are these that sort of people you would want to have unhappy with you, capice?'";
  87. now sequence is 5;
  88. -- 5:
  89. say "'Now, listen: there are some important things I need to tell you ... '[paragraph break]Vinny breaks off a noise from outside. Is that gunfire? Suddenly, Vinny looks even more worried than usual.[paragraph break]'... but I'm late for my trip already. Luckily it is all so simple that you will have no problem figuring things out and will therefore not get rubbed out'. [paragraph break]You think he may have meant this last part to be reassuring.";
  90. now sequence is 6;
  91. -- 6:
  92. say "'I gotta run. If you got any questions, you can always ask Einstein' And with this, Vinny high tails it through the door like the proverbial bat out of hell. With a click, the shuttered door locks itself behind him.[paragraph break]'Einstien? Who the hell is Einstein?' you wonder out loud.[paragraph break]'Uh, that'd be me, Boss.' What you had previously taken to be a section of brick wall detatches itself from the shadows and is revealed to be the biggest bouncer you've ever seen.";
  93. now sequence is 7;
  94. remove Cousin Vinny from play;
  95. move Einstein to Lobby;
  96. -- otherwise:
  97. say "sequence is [sequence]";
  98.
  99. Instead of asking Vinny about something:
  100. say "Shaddup and lissen! We ain't got all day, here!"
  101.
  102. Instead of listening:
  103. if Vinny is in the Lobby:
  104. try talking to Vinny;
  105. otherwise:
  106. say " A lot quieter than you might expect. You can maybe hear some faint traffic sound from outside."

  109. if sequence is:
  110. -- 1:
  111. say "'Hello, Boss.'";
  112. now sequence is 2;
  113. -- 2:
  114. say "'Einstien isn't really my name, you know. Vinny just called me that on account of me not being too bright'.";
  115. now sequence is 3;
  116. -- 3:
  117. say "Einstien shrugs his massive shoulders. 'S'a funny thing, 'cos I always thought Einstein was suppose to be clever. But then what do I know?'";
  118. now sequence is 4;
  119. -- 4:
  120. say "Anyhow, you can call me Bud, if you wanna.'";
  121. now sequence is 5;
  122. -- otherwise:

Wasn't that nice of him?'[or]'Amount of money Vinny owed the mob, I was sure they'd put a hit on him. But then I'm just stoopid.'[purely at random]"
  130.
  131. Instead of asking Einstein about "Plan/Job":
  132. say "'It's a real sweet plan, Boss. Real good. If I could remember what it was you'd think so too, I know.'"
  133.
  134. Instead of asking Einstein about "delivery":
  135. say "'All I know is we got a package due to be deliverd later today. You might want to look around and get settled in before that.'"
  136.
  137. Instead of asking Einstein about "package":
  138. say "'It's gonna arrive today, Boss!'"
  139.
  140. Instead of asking Einstein about "Lobby/Place/Club/Nightclub/Doghouse":
  141. say "This here's the Doghouse. Vinny set it up real sweet. You should take a look, Boss.'"
  142.
  143. Instead of asking Einstein about something:
  144. say "'Aww, gee Boss, what do I know about that sort of stuff?'"
  145.
  146. Instead of attacking Einstein the first time:
  147. say "Choosing your moment carefully, you wind up and plant a solid blow to Einstein's midsection. It feels almost like hitting a wall, except without the soft and cushiony properties you are learning to associate with concrete.[line break]";
  148. say "Einstein says 'Aww, Boss, stop funning around!' and hits you with a playful tap to the shoulder that spins you through 360 degrees. That's going to leave a bruise you'll feel all week, you reckon.";
  149.
  150. Instead of attacking Einstein more than one time:
  151. say "You consider throwing another punch, but the throbbing pain in your shoulder argues persuasively against such an act.";
  152.
  153.
  154. Before going through the Double Door:
  155. if Vinny is in the Lobby:
  156. Say "''Stop playing with that and listen up!'";
  157. stop the action;
  158. else if Double Door is closed:

  172.
  173. The DJ Control Panel is in the DJ Box. It is fixed in place. The description is "Some of those switches look like they might bite."
  174. After entering the DJ Box:
  175. say "The DJ box has a large control panel containing a bewlidering array of swiches and sliders and other stuff that would not look out of place in the cockpit of a 747."
  176.
  177. Instead of using or touching the DJ Control Panel:
  178. say "Tentatively flipping a switch on the panel brings forth a pulsing bass beat filling-hurting magnitude. Quickly you return the switch to its original position before the building sustains structural damage."
  179.
  180. Doghouse Bar is a room. "The bar is quite large, with bottle racks and racks of liquor dispensers. In terms of actual bottles, however, there's a couple of bottles of bourbon and once of vodka." The doghouse bar is west of the Doghouse. The Doghouse is east of the doghouse bar.

  206. move player to Lobby;
  207. move Einstein to Lobby;
  208. move delivery guy to Lobby;
  209. Say "In the interests of finding out what is going on, you make your way back to the lobby. Einstein trails after you, like a puppy. Or, more accurately to say, like a puppy would be if puppies tended to be eight foot tall and made of titanium.";

  219. otherwise:
  220. say "Too bad. I'll never get the crate through those doors.[paragraph break]";

  222. say "'Do you need me to sign for it?' you ask.[paragraph break]";
  223. say "The delivery guy replies. 'Such a paper trail is for if disputes get settled in court. This is not a transaction of that nature.' The delivery guy deposits the crate on the concrete floor of the lobby. 'OK, that's me done. Stay lucky!' And with that he departs, the outer door automatically locking behind him."
  224.
  225. test me with "listen / listen / listen / listen / listen / listen / listen / e / e / enter room one".
