  1. [A conversation between Ovan and Ohtli where she makes more solid inquiries on how Order works and how best to follow it]
  2.
  3. Ovan Huitzilopochtli asks, "If that's all for now.. what's up with you, Ohtli?"
  4.
  5. Ohtli says, "Nothing important, like I said. You gave some lessons on Order before and I wasn't exactly feeling well enough to be there at the time."
  6.
  7. Ohtli says, "If it's alright, I'd like to learn more about it."
  8.
  9. Ovan Huitzilopochtli says, "Hm."
  10. After putting some thought into it, the blonde rises up and makes his way over to the bookshelf not too far from them.
  11.
  12. "The main thing we did out in that lesson was practice meditation. It is something that we will need to head up to the mountain for. In the meantime, you should read this."
  13.
  14. A book is selected from the shelf and is plucked from it, the title written in golden letters.
  15.
  16. 'The Path'
  17.
  18. "This was the book that Raya gave me back when I first visited Zheng. Way before they went to war and had to fight for survival. Before she joined our settlement. It has served me pretty well, and I think now is as good a time as any to pay it on."
  19.
  20. He arrives back at the table and hands it over, a weak smile on his face as that icy curse washes over him once more. Obtaining and giving wisdom was something that he took stock in, where his passion lied.
  21.
  22. "Read it and understand it, but at the same time...? Decide for yourself what you want to accept as fact and deny as fiction. That is the key to knowledge -- not just believing everything you read or are told. Y'know?"
  23. (Ovan Huitzilopochtli)

  26.
  27. Ohtli had long been a seeker of truth in her own right. There were those that looked down on her fore it, but she always took the luxury of asking questions and learning for herself where she could.
  28.
  29. It is because of that particularly that what Ovan says resonates for her. She gives the magus a smile, wan but warm, and delicately accepts the book from him.
  30.
  31. "I know. But thank you, sir. I'll take good care of it."
  32.
  33. Knowledge is priceless, worth far more than its weight in coin, and the Ezmaran has bestowed on her a great gift.
  34.
  35. "I heard Pasis talking about the other side of it. About Chaos. And I was wondering...
  36.
  37. "Why did you pick Order? What called you to it? They talk about Chaos being like a drug, how it gets into you and won't let you go."
  38. (Ohtli)
  39.
  40. "For that reason. Chaos is too easy to give into. That immediate clutch of power that people pull from the lifestream without regard to what will happen after. Most Arcane magi as of late appear on the side of Chaos. That's why I chose the path of Order, to go against the grain. But even then.."
  41.
  42. His voice trails off and he raises up from his chair, feeling Mina's irritation about still being in the temple without her even having to say anything.
  43.
  44. "I didn't want to be like the Order users that came before me. Ikkaku, Raya, Suha, those lost in wars passed? They were or are good people in their own ways, but I am not them. There has to be a balance somewhere between Chaos and Order. People who are willing to see and understand both sides and their various perspectives for what they are to bring balance to it all."
  45.
  46. He rolls his shoulders as he moves forward, opening the door for them both.
  47.
  48. "That's where I seemyself. Playing the role of the one that will keep everything from imploding. Those who seek nothing but justice on the side of order lack empathy, and those that know mercy show too much. My claim is inbetween.
  49.
  50. Does that make sense?"
  51. (Ovan Huitzilopochtli)
  52.
  53. Ohtli turns to watch Ovan pace for the door, rising to follow and leave the temple now that business was concluded.
  54.
  55. "More sense than you know," she says, barely above a mutter. The Drakan tucks the book neatly beneath one arm.
  56.
  57. "You're doing a good job of helping to keep Vindicia afloat. I can see that. And thank you for taking the time to talk to me. I'm grateful."
  58. (Ohtli)
