  1.
  2. To that point, it seemed, they disagreed. Though they tried to be open and offer pleasant conversation, they were somewhat fixed upon that point. And why? Well they could see those spirits of course. Those restless things unable to move on due to the souls tied to corpses that should be in the ground.
  3. (Kirsi モ Cn疂mh匤)
  4. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  5.
  6. [21:58] Smiled, he'd tilt his head. Snapping his finger as he looked at Kirsi. He'd offer a wide smile about that point. It was one that troubled him a lot in his youth.
  7.
  8. "I do not disagree with your stance there. You see, that happens because many of the Necomancer's do not follow the Holy Arts as they where meant to be."
  9.
  10. He'd lean forward finally taking his cup of dice and hiding it in his pocket.
  11.
  12. "It's wrong to torture those souls that are brought back. They're supposed to be saved from death, not locked into a fate of slavery that is worse than it."
  13.
  14. He'd speak with some fervor as he rolled forward. Branching into the past.
  15.
  16. "It was for that reason that I aided against the ghoul king in my youth. Such a cruel abuse of the Holy Arts, I couldn't tolerate it."
  17. (Syracuse Fengari)
  18. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  19.
  20. [22:10] Well that was a different take.. And perhaps, were there a way to draw souls back to life without such horrendous pain, without twisting their spirits beyond recognition, they might've been alright with it. On occasion. The rare occasion that a soul had good reason to return. Otherwise.. Not so much.
  21.
  22. They weren't fond of the idea of undead as a whole. But then, perhaps that was a bit of bias in their own right. They'd seen the wretched things Sors had done to people who had once been friends. They'd seen worse still from the ghoul king- Fought among the people of Huangzhou to fend them off. And even before then..
  23.
  24. Run. Run as fast as you can Kirsi. Don't look back..
  25.
  26. Their left eye twitched, slightly. The scent of ozone became notable on the air, though it was not intense. Not yet, anyway. Their distress wasn't quite that bad yet. They blinked the old memory away.
  27.
  28. "Th'fact it's cruel I can agree on.
  29.
  30. .. Th'fact ya call it a holy art.. ya say they're supposed t'be saved from death- But, see Fen, death ain't somethin ya need savin' from once ya gone.. S'natural. 'Less ya soul's been taken t'a corrupt star or th'void there isnae any benefit t'bringin it back fer th'person uh.. brought.. back.. Aside selfish interest."
  31. (Kirsi モ Cn疂mh匤)
  32. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  33.
  34. [22:15] Syracuse nodded his head, it was a take on things he'd heard countless times. One that he couldn't quite disagree with. His stance upon Necromancy was a troubled on.
  35.
  36. Mostly due to him seeing the misuses of Necromancer's such as Sors and the Ghoul King. Yet Roanna Rosenkruez had shown him what a true practitioner of the holy arts could achieve.
  37.
  38. "I won't try to convince you. . . But, all I can say is that to see Syaoron again would bring me the greatest joy."
  39.
  40. His gaze drifted away, towards the city of Crafthold. Beyond it to the last place he'd seen his Syaoron alive.
  41.
  42. "I'm incredible selfish."
  43.
  44. It was a simple truth, he didn't care the damage or pain it caused. He just wanted his loved one back. If he felt that way, surely others would as well? He knew he'd accept the pain when he died.
  45.
  46. Looking back at Kirsi his gaze shifted towards the thin line of crimson upon their forehead. He'd thought it a scar at first but now. . . With a tilting of his head he'd ask his question.
  47.
  48. "What's up with your forehead?"
  49. (Syracuse Fengari)
  50. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  51.
  52. [22:24] There went the cat. It fell over in the bag and made a thump in its attempt to get out. But no, Kirsi didn't want that particular cat getting away. It was a diseased and wretched thing! Probably? They.. didn't actually know. They hadn't opened the bag to check.
  53.
  54. Confusing analogy aside their gaze dropped away the moment he mentioned it. Where they'd met his gaze and kept it, where they'd been intent and focused before, now their gaze fixed upon the rooftop. Ginger hair fell across their face, that wild mane making it difficult to make out exactly what was there. Nigh impossible, in fact.
  55.
  56. If it didn't glow, that is. Then it'd be impossible.
  57.
  58. Yet the more they thought about it, just the mention of it, and the air's temperature had raised several degrees. There was a certain air of tension about them, in the immediate vicinity. As though the wind were holding its breath.
  59.
  60. "I- Donnae know what it is.. Used t'just be a scar."
  61.
  62. As if that'd explain it all, they offered no further information.
  63.
  64. ..Neat.
  65. (Kirsi モ Cn疂mh匤)
  66. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  67.
  68. [22:34] It was such a strange thing, the glowing scar. Yet, it seemed to cause them pain? He'd take a step, closing the space between he and the familiar stranger. He'd seen them for a long time and yet, still knew so little.
  69.
  70. What an interesting person! It was a smooth thing. Natural almost for the Neries as if he'd been doing something as simple as picking up a stack of books. Not trying to cheer up a worried person.
  71.
  72. One hand went to their chin, tilting it up a bit as the other simply brushed their ginger lockes out of the way. Speaking all the while as he did so, making it clear he wasn't out to do harm.
  73.
  74. Some people found him to be intimidating, could you imagine?
  75.
  76. "Hey, eye's up. Yea? I don't matter what it is, its apart of you and there's nothing wrong with that."
  77.
  78. He'd offer a warm smile, emotions where something he enjoyed. Kindness he'd learned long ago was one of the better one's to indulge.
  79.
  80. "You don't have to tell me anything, nor will I press you."
  81.
  82. He'd wait a moment before retrieving his hands and stepping back. Speaking as he did so.
  83.
  84. "If you ever need help, I will answer your call. Now that."
  85.
  86. It was clear, should it become an issue the prophet of obscene faiths would move to help fix it.
  87. (Syracuse Fengari)
  88. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  89.
  90. [22:58] There were several things to note, as he shifted toward them. Foremost was the smoldering heat. It was nigh oppressive, and tinged with the scent of ozone. A sharp sort of scent which stung the nose. Yet for as sweltering as the air was it was absolutely nothing compared to the seeming fever which had started up.
  91.
  92. Their skin was hot to the touch. Not to the point where it burned, but certainly to an almost unnatural degree. The anxiety they felt didn't help in trying to settle that unwarranted magic, but they managed to keep from drawing anything further with slow breaths.
  93.
  94. As he tilted their chin up, and cleared those locks away from their face, he could see it properly now. Something that definitely wouldn't be a part of any normal person. A thin slit in the skin, behind which the glossy sheen of a pure red eye could be seen. No sclera, no pupil, darker veins of red somewhat bloated on the surface. As though the thing were malformed.
  95.
  96. That was.. Different.
  97.
  98. Then, this entire situation seemed strange to them. To find such kindness in someone that Isaac or Sera or Ren Shi or Sakamura or even Noel or Calael might condemn. It was enlightening, to a certain degree. Soothing to nerves which had spent so long ever so frayed and stretched thin.
  99.
  100. Even if the issue they faced was similar..
  101.
  102. Even if it was that..
  103.
  104. Even then, they could still be themself. Kind as they'd always tried to be. Sticking to their guns, by.. sticking to.. peaceful resolutions to matters. They shifted their weight where they stood, their gaze glancing off to the side- Then to the stars above. As they stared he could probably see it.
  105.
  106. How the skin withdrew a little further.
  107.
  108. That glossy sheen became a tad smoother.
  109.
  110. A third eye, opened just a fraction more.
  111.
  112. ".. I.. I appreciate it, yah.. I really do. Think.. Just.. Talkin helped, a bit. Ahm.. I just.. I- Might, say more but.. T'be honest I really donnae know much 'bout why tha's there.
  113. (Kirsi モ Cn疂mh匤)
  114. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  115.
  116. [22:59] Kirsi モ Cn疂mh匤 says, ".. Was a scar, like I said. Just.. Split open again, after I started really uh.. tryna erh.. commune with m'star."
  117. [23:08] Notable, the Neries was sweating. Of course he'd born the heat as well as he could. Having spent years being tortured by electricity and a life-time of searching after new experiences, mostly painful ones. The Nereis had gained a hearty fortitude.
  118.
  119. Though, it really was tiring he'd swipe some of the sweat out of his face with the back of his arm. He thought about taking another step back, but he'd stepped forward to provide comfort. Retreat more after doing so? What would that make him? Well, not himself mainly.
  120.
  121. He listened, actually listened as they spoke. He'd scratch at a healing wound upon his forearm as he contemplated it. The crimson light made him feel like, he'd snap his fingers as he realized something.
  122.
  123. "Ah! I think I know what's happening!"
  124.
  125. He'd give a few nods as he spoke, then he'd stop, maybe it wouldn't be smart to speak. It could make things worse.
  126.
  127. "Then again, maybe not. Though, if it happens as you try to commune with your star. Is your star a red one?"
  128. (Syracuse Fengari)
  129. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  130.
  131. [23:20] There it was. That's the cat. It stuck its ugly head out of the bag and meowed and now he saw it and it noticed he was looking at it and it started yowling and- Oh no. No this wouldn't do. Get back in the bag damnit.
  132.
  133. .. That wasn't how words worked.
  134.
  135. Kirsi wasn't hard to read, either. Even if they tried to hide it the lie would be somewhat obvious. Why? Well because, in short, they weren't a liar. They avoided it like the plague, doing their best to stay utterly truthful. It was just easier that way. Even if dancing around the truth was sometimes necessary..
  136.
  137. He'd already guessed it, spot on. There was no point in trying to hide it. After all, even now he could feel the faint turmoil. Not so strong as perhaps his own aura might be, but an emotional charge which was strong enough to radiate from their own form.
  138.
  139. Anxiety, for the most part. Uncertainty.
  140.
  141. Their voice was small when they spoke.
  142.
  143. "Erh.. yah.. figured that out a bit ago. Ain't.. uhm.. well-attuned though.."
  144. (Kirsi モ Cn疂mh匤)
  145. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  146.
  147. [23:34] Syracuse offered a warm smile. To be connected to a corrupted star, idly he thought to himself about that. Thinking for a long time.
  148.
  149. Honestly, it was odd how long he waited. Normally the man was fast to act, faster to speak. Yet, on the odd occasion where he found his full focus was needed he had to push aside the constant cries for freedom and release.
  150.
  151. He's scarlet hues glowed softly in the darkness. Searching Kirsi's face as they looked for what emotions where being hidden beneath the surface.
  152.
  153. With a step he'd get a bit closer, then closer. He looked straight into the eye, shifting stray lockes of hair out of the way as he observed it.
  154.
  155. Ah, there was that heat. Why did he not give off something similar with his own cosmic energy? Was it due to his biology as a Neries or perhaps the restraining tattoos inscribed by Xog did the trick.
  156.
  157. With beads of sweat dripping down his brow, and the heat starting to remind him of the burns offire. He'd take a breath, the air hot an muggy.
  158.
  159. In a small whisper he spoke to them, calm. Confident, assured in his own wants and desires. He'd chosen his path a long time ago and he wouldn't waver.
  160.
  161. Kirsi? Their path was still not yet set. They could change if they desired. If they wished to do so.
  162.
  163. "You've a choice to make. It is a choice only you can make but whatever you choose I will work until it is achieved. I owe you that much for your kindess when I was with Syaoron."
  164.
  165. He'd shift his gaze from the burning third eye to the eyes of Kirsi. He'd found long ago that eye-contact helped to utilize that illusive charisma. Instilled truth, understanding.
  166.
  167. "I can teach you how to utilize the corrupted star's power for your own. To channel the gifts it offers. To maintain the core of who you are as you attune yourself."
  168.
  169. He took a deep breath at that point, moving onto the next option. One he'd only a rough understanding of.
  170.
  171. "I have also heard of. . . Seperating one's connection to a star. We could shift your bound from this corrupted one to a new one."
  172.
  173. He'd wait for a moment, his hues searching the young man's face for a moment. As if looking for a tell that'd help him figure out what they wanted.
  174.
  175. "The choice is your own to make."
  176. (Syracuse Fengari)
  177. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  178.
  179.
  180. [00:18] As the silence dragged on, Kirsi shifted their weight. The faint bit of emotion which radiated from them became a bit stronger- Mounting anxiety as no response came. They weren't sure if they should stay there or not. They felt an urge to simply make some excuse and wander off. And yet, he had offered a faint glimmer of hope, in a sense.
  181.
  182. After all, they hadn't been able to tell the difference between their own star's ether, and his aura. Not in terms of that heightened emotion, at least. Of course there was a difference, but it was the subtle difference of another source. And the heat, of course.
  183.
  184. That was less subtle, but to their mind less important.
  185.
  186. What mattered to them was one simple thing. Whether their star was, in fact, corrupted. Whether it was truly red due to some rotten core, or due to duress as they were lead to believe. Even still they weren't sure, despite their confidence in answering their friends when they asked. That was the closest to lying they'd gotten before..
  187.
  188. Saying, with any certainty, that their star wasn't corrupt.
  189.
  190. Because truly, they didn't know. Not for sure.
  191.
  192. They didn't know anything, really. Why were stars so strange?
  193.
  194. Just as they decided they ought mosey off elsewhere, making an excuse of some kind just to escape the prolonged silence- He moved, then. A step closer. One hand lifted again to brush those ginger locks aside. Closer still. The redhead's expression showed just what emotions radiated from their form. Anxiety. Uncertainty. Stress..
  195.
  196. But there was a glimmer of desire- The desire to find hope in whatever it was he was about to offer. To find some sort of solution, wherebefore they'd been grasping at straws. Calael only brought fear, they didn't know what he meant to do but they didn't like how he treated them the moment he found out their cosmic energy was red.
  197.
  198. Noel had no solutions. Reito very few as well.
  199.
  200. Meditation didn't work out very well.
  201.
  202. Demanding answers only got them so far.
  203.
  204. Yet he knew the pull of crimson cosmic. He knew just what it was like. And he was still a decent person, or so it seemed. Surely if anyone could help them, he could. When he met their gaze they stared, near unblinking. Focused entirely on him, searching for any hint of deception. Suspicious still, yet calming to a small degree as he continued to speak.
  205.
  206. They drew slow breaths, attempting to steady themself further still. To calm down and truly think about what was just said. What they knew of him, and what had just been offered. The latter option didn't sound particularly safe, if neither of them knew how to do it.. But then, potentially attuning to a dangerous, corrupt star? Which one was worse..?
  207.
  208. In the end.. They had an inkling as to what might be happening to their star. What might be going on. Perhaps if they were better attuned they could properly understand what might be wrong.. It seemed like a decent plan.
  209.
  210. So finally, they offered their response..
  211.
  212. "If ya willin t'help.. I.. I donnae know if it's exactly alike but.. It's still.. difficult, sometimes, t'control th'emotions.. If.. If ya can help.. I would be real grateful.
  213.
  214. I donnae want t'lose sight of who I am, Fen."
  215. (Kirsi モ Cn疂mh匤)
  216. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  217.
  218. [00:36] There was the quirk at his lip, the twitch of a muscle that hadn't ever fully recovered from what the injury that left half his face with a running scar along it.
  219.
  220. Though the small smirk that settled upon his features. Could it be said to be as warm as his previous smile? Perhaps not, he'd never personally experienced a red star.
  221.
  222. Yet, he know where the corruption came from. What'd caused it, only the acts of the faithful of Belial or Azreal could lead to a stars corruption.
  223.
  224. He'd taken the role of a teacher for an endless number of people.
  225.
  226. Most of them long gone or hated him now. What would become of another one? He'd bend a knee down to be eye level with them. Resting a hand upon their shoulder, an aura of joyousness that would be quite infectious.
  227.
  228. Those scarlet hues gleamed in the darkness now. There couldn't help but be a sense that they'd far greater control over the emotions of others than they let on.
  229.
  230. "You see, you've struggled so hard because of what you just said."
  231.
  232. He'd mouth the word control, a little tilt of his head as if he was jesturing to chuck that word away.
  233.
  234. "What we must do is teach you to embrace your emotions, once you learn how to express them. You will become more attuned with the crimson star within the heavens."
  235.
  236. He tilted his gaze upwards towards the stars. He'd wonder how it was he'd been linked with a healthy star but yet Kirsi was gifted a corrupted one?
  237.
  238. "Can you tell me your star's name, where is it in the night sky?"
  239. (Syracuse Fengari)
